For anyone that grew up in the 90's this house is like a time capsule. The NEC televisions, the landline phones, the cabinetry, the curved walls. The whole house screams 90's luxury. Which is so vastly different to what people consider luxury today.

Not to discredit Enes, his work is amazing, but the house has been on the market for a decade, and they’ve cut the price in half since originally listing it. They can’t sell it.

Hindsight is always 20/20. I had no idea as a kid in the 80's and 90's that I was witnessing the greatest player of all time. I just understood that he was really good. Nobody knew back then that he would still hold records decades later.
Insane. I grew up in France and I’ve been a fan since 1996. At this time, from Europe, it was really difficult watching games, reading NBA news etc. So it’s pretty awesome to see where Michael and his family used to live at this time ! It’s like a time capsule. And it also breaks my heart seeing it all empty. Especially the trophy room. I wish the next owner of this mansion would keep it like this, the basketball court is part of basketball history 😍

His house is incredible. Imagine being a kid growing up there. Mind blowing indeed. Museum is the only logical thing I can think of and renting out the guesthouse. It’s beautiful.
Totally what I was thinking. Guest house would be the museum gift shop, sell some vintage Bulls merchandise, jerseys, etc. Jordan could probably get a sizable tax write-off from the little vanity project.
The chicago bulls team should buy this and rent it to their top players or keep it for the team and host camps there! Perfectly set up for team building activities :)

@@theadmiral4625 they should really just turn it into a museum instead of trying to sell it. Obviously nobody wants to live there or spend that kind of $$$ no matter how Iconic MJ is...plus you could create revenue stream by charging for tours and admission. Rent out the court for hourly price etc.
If these ideas are used then I am eligible for $$$ negotiations from MJ's management team. Open to discuss further as I have some of the best ideas that have ever been birthed into the human imagination. I just do not have the resources to pull it off, but my idea's are top tier. Nothing less than the best.

I used to look after the grounds on this property for Michael Jordan, I was also his personal vehicle manager, in charge of looking after all his cars, from 1998 to 2006.. what an experience I had working for Michael & his family 🙏🏻

I worked there as a security guard for a security firm during the lasts few weeks of phases of the finishing of the estate. It was non the less, even more beautiful walking through it. I was at awe standing on the the original CB hard wood floor.

The untouched lower level was so cool to see, literally like going back in time to see a state of the art, highest end entertainment longue money could be in the year 1995. I love the carpet design, Jordan logo on the ceiling and the LED lights. so cool

Never seen anything like it! The recorded sound! I have never heard such clarity. The camera work ..aiming at the various rooms..and the editing, the cuts!! How do they do those cuts? Have never seen such camera work! The quality of the film is better than any. The B rolls, and the footage at the beginning. How on earth did Enes think to do that? I have never seen a video with cuts in the middle…of the subject. Yes, Michael Jordan's mansion not even the start of the tour, and I'm in love with his personal gate. In the Dining room and the kitchen, the light above the table is beautiful and the table is unique. That is a dream in a future kitchen of mine either to have a bar or an island in the middle of the kitchen. A trophy room wow I would feel so humble and accomplished every time I walked into that room. Oh shit, I didn't even realize the pool was a basketball that is so cool, having an island in the middle of the pool would never have thought of that before. Basketball courts omg I love the glossiness in the floor and a full court holy moly
For me, even seeing the house back in the 90's it looks like a museum or mausoleum more than a house. I do love the front gates with the 23 & all the land surrounding it.
Wow I looked at this property when it was first listed but you made it look so much better than just photos. You gave it story and made it feel really special and unique, because it is. So much potential, seems like a steal for the price. Can't imagine what something like this would cost to build now.

You can tell from the design that Michael got his design ideas from being on the road. The house looks like a luxury airport terminal, and the bedrooms look like luxury hotel rooms. There's no warmth in the house. It's aestheticly beautiful, but cold.

That was an excellent observation. I was wondering why I wasn't attracted to the place even though it was luxurious. I loved your line "It's aesthetically beautiful, but cold." It reeked of excess too. I mean, how many sitting areas and full-size pool tables and bars does one need? This is my least favorite tour, but I'm happy for the guys who did the tour since it gave them joy to be in Michael Jordan's home. I enjoyed their joy, just not the home for the reasons you stated.

I really love all the 1980-90s glass block and outdoor furniture. Stunning.
The home is really amazing you can actually tell a lot of the stuff was from the '90s based off the color and that architecture and then you can see the little subtle hints of new renovation was crazy how a home can tell you so much about the times I love it ❤️
Shockingly, they left the kitchen flooring tiles -- the small scale of the tile is really an eyesore for such an expensive property.
It's unfortunate the buyer can't get rid of the 90's furniture by selling it. I personally would donate those outdated furnitures as well as those 90's NEC rectangular TV's. The floor on the kitchen needs updating too.

Apart from the facade tiles and the living room furniture, the home is dandy in a nostalgic way.

I love how they show the price, no nonsense or gimmicks. I see properties listed for a small fraction of this one on FB and social media, and to fin out the price you have to message them and do an entire rain dance, and once you contact them, you can never get them to leave you alone.

Not bad for a kid from Wilmington, NC. I remember watching his documentary films from the early 90’s and his home before this one. Where his neighbors kids ran up to him and he threw a football in his backyard. Amazing he had this built from scratch and I bet it cost about 2.5m total.
Finally, to think he owns this and never uses it anymore is insane. The maintenance on it alone has to be 100k a month easy.
The maintenance is nowhere near 100k per month.

The house has been for sale for 10 years... a great demonstration of super luxe custom homes- the person who builds it is the only one who loves it (or maybe can afford it).
Definitely too customised, why on earth would anyone buy a shrine to someone else. Not to mention it looks like a community college. 14 million dollars id build my own 🤣
Agree, Im a fan indeed but too customized and a new owner cant sell any furnishings to make it their own! Too 'nany refundant rooms, how to repurpose if cant get rid of any furnishings?
This place not a home but a shrine especially e.g. MJ logo everyhere, design details for him alone& as stated on the sale none of the furniture can ever be sold!

@@freedomm There's mansions more or less expensive than this with indoor basketball court, bowling alley, theater, tennis court, etc and they're not even athletes. Of course, not many people need them, only the rich, important and famous who wants one and has the kind of lifestlye. And to have this lifestyle you know a lot of people too, not just your family. For them it is just enough.

One day, my wife and I went out looking for a place to live…. We found this beautiful gated community house in Northern California…. The place was gigantic, 2 floors, tons of bathrooms, rooms, one could barely hear anyone else throughout the house…
Soooo, we came to a conclusion that the place was too big for a family of four and 2 dogs, with family barely visiting since they live abroad….
It was beautiful!!! Yet, it was dead! No warmth, no closeness…. Sooo, we decided for a smaller place, a place where we could find each other in less than 2 minutes, right on the water, cozy, warmth, we still had a nice back yard, a dock to go out with the kayaks, bbq area…. We were super happy! We were super close to each other…. Great decision…. Sometimes the smaller, the better! Still, Mr. Jordan’s is a beautiful place! Hope he was able to really enjoy it! 🤞🤞🤞🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

If your suggestion was a financial or practical viability, Jordan could do that himself, as he doesn’t appear to need the money he has sunk into this property since he has had it up for sale for over 10 years with no buyers in sight. Given that it cost him $50M to build and it is now being marketed for sale at $14M, donating the home as a non-profit museum would probably better financially for Jordan given that a sale would yield less than the $14M current list price.
@@dorothygale1104 That's an interesting thought! I know if I had the money I would do it lmao. I just wonder if there would be any legal/zoning issues. It seems like a no-brainer to me. Doesn't even have to just be a house for touring. It could rented for events. Add a gift shop. They could add a shoe store on that property! There's plenty of room to cover parking. That house is a money making machine

Great display of such a historic home. I use to drive up from Evanston around Sheridan Dr. and take friends to get a picture at the "23" gate when they came to visit. It was great when the team practiced at the Berto Center back in the day also. I worked for Jim Beam and our office building was just up the street so we could see the players parking in the rear when they came to practice. I've always said, If I could ever afford this home, I would use it as corporate space for fortune 500 companies to have retreat week, team building and corporate events. The staff have done a remarkable job up keeping a home that hasn't had residents for such a long time. I heard that the new owner also gets Nike and Jordan gear for life...
And also a pair of new Air Jordans!! I just feel sorry for whoever buys that house next,,, trying to refurnish all 56,000 square feet, remove all the MICHAEL JORDAN stuff, and just make the house look the way he or she wants it to. I'm surprised Michael's buddy OPRAH didn't buy that house. Maybe she toured it but didn't want it.
