I have this CD in the Atlantic Years mono box set and am happy with the sound on that. Based on the remastered audio included on this channel it does sound slightly better than previous releases but I'll be passing on this one. I find it strange the source of the mastering is absent, maybe fans will find out.

No information about source, or who mastered and from analog tape or digital files. No information about where the records were pressed. All of the extras are very nice but not being told the basics makes this easy to NOT RECOMMEND. You are entitled to know what you are buying and this trailer doesn't tell you..

I was under the impression that the original masters burned in the Universal Studios fire in 2008 or maybe the Atlantic Records fire 1978. I assume that this is a remaster of a digital master copy. Still the extras are a nice incentive and it does sound good.
@@Edspillanemusic The masters for My Favorite Things,Coltrane Jazz and Coltrane's Sound were lost to the fire hence why they were not included in 2016 Coltrane in Mono boxed set. I do find it slightly irritating that they're claiming the alternate takes etc were only previously included in Heavyweight Champ boxed set release of years ago, when they were also included in the individual Atlantic Rhino classics. Frankly, it's a money making exercise we see all too frequently from many record companies. Just because something has been remastered does not mean it sounds better.
