It’s time for a class action lawsuit. Far too many people having the same issue anx just having a warranty whereby everone is being treated differently is enough to put them out of business!
I have a question. Did you opt to go for an upgraded tank or did they refuse to stand by their product and offered you an upgrade at a discount? I have been doing alot of reading on forums lately and have seen the horror stories about dealing with their customer service dept.
Hi, I originally brought the RSR 425xl brand new for £1400 and they offered me like a voucher against a percentage of its equivalent value in today's money (back when this happened) which was a lot more than I paid originally, which I refused and went back with a counter offer. I presume I could have brought any Red Sea equipment with it ( I didn't actually ask that question, though), but I opted for the 625xxl G2, and I had to put money towards it. If I had wanted a different brand of tank, then I would have had to pay out for the entire thing, probably between £3000 - £4000 for a similar size which at the time I couldn't afford so I went with the best option for me. The customer service was really good in my experience, but then I was respectful towards them with my manner of written emails and when speaking to them! The main thing I took away was I should have put a 'Ticket in' straight away rather than waiting for the LFS that I purchased the tank from who I think was waiting for their Red Sea rep to visit them. Should the tank start splitting at the seams in the 1st place? NO !! But it did, and you have to just deal with it. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
@@ReefDrama cool thanks for the response. I have been looking at these tanks for a while old and the g2 models and it seems like this is still and issue with there tanks and some of the horror stories i have seen with them outright refusing to warranty their products have left me a bit uneasy since I recently purchased a 350 g2. I guess if it fails it fails. I was too impatient to wait several months for waterbox or someone else. I guess time will tell if im just another in the seemingly long and getting longer line of unhappy customers.
How confident do you feel about not having a repetition on another Red Sea? Your experience and reading how common this seems to be have put me off the R/S aquariums.
Hi, I guess there's always a risk. However, the new G2 has sorted out what is, in my opinion, to be the problem which is they now have an extra metal lip across the front of the tank so there is no overhang anymore. Also, they have a metal upright strut in the middle of the sump area to also aid with the weight distribution. Plus, there's the 5 year warranty instead of the original 3. Will it happen again? Maybe. If it does, it will be documented on here again. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
If you can use the credit on accessories and you haven't already got a filter fleece roll, I can highly recommend the Red Sea Reef Mat. I've got the 1200 on my tank, and it's awesome. Or I guess you could buy a smaller tank for the money and immediately sell it as brand new, still in the box. Always people looking for 2nd hand tanks. That's a right result, having a friend professionally reseal it 😀 Awesome! 👍
As some one looking to get back into the hobby I wont be purchasing anything from Red Sea shame as they seem to do a nice package they know about these seals blowing yet continue to charge people for thier mistakes (yes warrranty has expired) they should do the decent thing and offer a free replacement I think they would gain far more than they lose.
Hi John, I understand what you're saying. When you're out of warranty, they do try like they did with myself and I was in a position where it was going to cost more to buy another manufacturer's tank for the size I wanted to get so went with another Red Sea albeit discounted. This was the best option for me. I must say though, the new G2 versions have all the fixes that I believe cause the older version to leak or for the seal to start to break down. Obviously time will tell buy I will definitely be taking out the full 5 year warranty option. I hope you find something suitable to get back into the hobby. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Hi, the tank was just outside the warranty by a few months. Red Sea and I come to an undisclosed settlement/ agreement, which, despite the 425xl issue I'm happy with. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
The RS dealer in my area had is tank fail and lost everything......they sent him a new tank, and stand but there is no excuse for this to happen...BUYER BEWARE!!! Waterbox Or Fiji Cube will be my next tank after seeing too many of these failing.
Hey, yeah, unfortunately, it's happening a lot. I hope you find what you're looking for. Are you looking to upgrade or downsize from your current tank? Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
I experience the same issues with my 525lx a few months ago the seal failed, I contacted them I did everything that was expected they said the tank was 2 years past the warranty they offered me a credit of $975.00 towards a purchase of a new tank,I don't want to buy another tank I can't afford a new tank no way I want to use the credit to purchase Redsea equipment they told me I use it toward a new purchase. I'm getting my tank repaired for a good price No more RedSea ever!!!
Sorry to hear that, mate. They are always out of warranty !! 🙄 Were you able to still get the credit even if you didn't buy another RS? What did you buy? Hopefully, the tank repair went well for you. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀
Thanks, Brian. It was that or pay a LOT more for something else. Trouble with being out of the warranty, unfortunately. Thanks for supporting my channel 😀

Good luck on your tank search.

@@ReefDramathanks for the feedback. Fingers crossed. I’ll look at the replacement tank video and see if I can spot the improvements. 👍
No worries. Let me know what you eventually decide on 😀
Well with the credit I haven't decided weather to use it or not,one of friend repairs tanks so I got it sealed professionally

How did the repair go? Cost?
The repair didn't cost much. I didn't add water yet
For the credit I haven't contacted them ever since then
Congrats on the resolution, too bad you had to pay, though
Thanks, Brian. It was that or pay a LOT more for something else. Trouble with being out of the warranty, unfortunately.
