I see a lot of people aren't getting the login spotify screen, I had the same problem. To fix it you have to go to your taskbar and open the hidden icons menu (the one that looks like an arrow), there you will see the snip icon, you have to right click it, then choose spotify under the player options. That way it will open the spotify login, or at least that worked for me :)
This is actually one the best formatted tutorial videos I've seen. Really clear and concise, has timestamps for every section, and after the initial question is answered you know exactly what questions are gonna follow: "can I make it scroll? can I put a gap in the scroll loop?" Brilliant stuff

Dunno if this is too late to comment but add a text source and check the read from file box in the properties. Do the same for artwork with an image source if you're using artwork too.

I have Snip open and spotify playing and it says "No track playing" even though i have spotify running. Text file also has nothing in it. What am i missing?

If Snip isn't bringing you to the sign in page for Spotify or whatever you are using, try clicking the up arrow at the bottom right of the screen to get all of those running applications up. Right click on the bluish snip logo and if it says No Player Selected click Spotify. Hope this helps

disable OBS to run as administrator by right clicking it and going to properties > compatibility > Run as administrator. you might have to create a new shortcut after this
Yeay this working. Play song anything in spotify and then mute. The text can be able on OBS scene. Setting text and then unmute again. Have a nice day 😘

If you have VOD you can play every song u like i do that too. VOD is just a thing OBS that will silence the music when u try to playback your Stream u have streamed before

When i drag it into Streamlabs for some reason it just becomes a very long black rectangular box that shows no text. noticed this also happens with my recent sub text too. whats going on
i found a solution that worked for me, i removed snip.txt from obs or your streaming app, than i added snipartwork.jpg and than snip.txt and it popped up the song i was listening to on the overlay. Hope this helped
I followed all the steps, but the txt file is empty. I have spotify running. When I drag and drop the file into OBS I get nothing - no text, just a tiny tiny box with nothing in it.
Go into the files where it says README.MD and LICENSE.md and just run the Snip application once. It will tell you to close it and then it should work. I was having the same problem
same... open spotify, i click on authorised and than site didnt load... and nothing works... and i cant even delete it, everytime, when i open snip.exe its try open the website
Fixed it, had the same problem. It doesn't recognize Spotify Web as "listening to Spotify" but it does recognize the desktop app and phone app. Try both of those if anyone is still having this problem

For those having issues, be sure you are using the Downloaded version of Spotify, NOT the browser version. Downloading the Application and following this video worked for me via Stream Elements OBS.Live

Yeah if I ever close Spotify, the whole thing completely breaks and I can't get it to work again. The only way I could fix it was by uninstalling Spotify and snip and reinstall both, and even then, if I ever close Spotify, the whole thing breaks again.
This would Violate Spotify TOS fro broadcasting music by use of their app or website. Per section 9 User guildlines "copying, redistributing, reproducing, “ripping,” recording, transferring, performing or displaying to the public, broadcasting, or making available to the public any part of the Spotify Service or the Content, or otherwise making any use of the Spotify Service or the Content which is not expressly permitted under the Agreements or applicable law or which otherwise infringes the intellectual property rights (such as copyright) in the Spotify Service or the Content or any part of it;"
I figured out the issue everyone is having! Make you sure after you drag the text file into streamlabs you right click on it and go into properties. Then select read from file and then re- select the snip.txt. This solved my problem if you need help please let me know!

yeah that's the only issue I have. No delay just cant get it to crop like you said without it changing. Gonna see if there's something else I can use that's free lol

For who's wondering, this method doesn't work anymore, the Spotify API's are blocked, so Snip won't work for the near future

What should you do if you drag over the snip text and it’s blank?
For me, it was actually launching Spotify. It took me a moment to realize that I mainly listen to Spotify on the browser.
