+RatchetsAnd Wrenches hello there - can you please show me how to remove scratches on cars with other color apart black color- for example white car or green ? thank you
I am confused. You rub your car with sandpaper to remove scratches? Won't that scratch you car too? I have some very light scratches done by me when i foolishly used a wet paper towel to wipe some bird droppings.
If a wet paper towel could scratch my car then a sandpaper will do a lot more. So i am confused on how i will fix my wet paper towel scratches by using something even more hard and scratchy than a wet paper towel.
You use only wet paper and you use a grade of paper based on how deep the scratches are. and you should soak the sand paper overnight.
That 3M rubbing compound is the only one I've found that actually works. I restored my boat's hull with colored gelcoat, and it was the only product that could buff it to a shine. Most of these other so called rubbing compounds, that say "clear coat safe", don't have enough abrasion to actually remove scratches.
Wd-40 is legend... Its on the same group with Vicks vaporub, marvel mystery oil..
Can you show a video on how to remove rust stains off damaged color area on cars?
That was satisfying.
Don't know why people think oil in a can will put paint back onto areas where the paint is missing from the car. All you did was make an oily mess and now you've got to go in with a wax and grease remover to clean it up to do it right.
s0nnyburnett yes, people will often spend more time and effort on doing something that they think will be easier than doing it the proper way.
Excellent info on removing scratches. I have a 1999 Ford F-150 with a few scratches...this will work out well...take care RatchesAnd Wrenches
Charles Almond Glad to hear, hope the scratches aren't too deep. Thanks for your comment, cheers
WD-40 is 75% solvent, which can (depending what derivative) sort of 'melt' the clear coat and paint and remove the scratches.
Definately subscribed!
I think i will need a few of your videos!
Can you do a video on how to buff out large rot holes in a rear quarter panel? I'm gonna try using Paper Maché as body filler. It should work as long as I don't drive in the rain.
Great tips haven't tried any yet but am positive it would work
Meguiars cutting compound works better. I use it with a foam pad on my buffer when I get some scratches and I do not get any swirl marks at all. I all follow with a polish then a wax for protection.
+Azureecosse. cutting compound would get those sanding marks off. I use Meguiars ultra cut compound 105.
Instead of rubbing compound, can I use thin aerosol basecoat layer followed by clear coat to restore the lost clear coat back after sanding?
For a temporary fix, automatic transmission fluid can "remove" scratches and is easy to apply. Soap or detergents will remove it.
+Kyntheria Similar to WD40 ATF has cleaning characteristics maybe even more so, but it doesn't fix scratches just cleans the area. Cheers
RatchetsAnd Wrenches Which is why I used quotations around "remove". They hide scratches, and on a dark vehicle, it can hide them really well. And as someone with OCD, I use it every time I wash one of my cars. Takes 20 seconds to hide a few scratches until you have the time to polish and wax. :D
Nicely done and explained. Thanks!
thanks for that.. really excellent tutorial.. going to have a go on my car, given me confidence thanks..
lee walker np, glad you liked the video and thanks for commenting. cheers
Worked pretty good. Nice video
thanks for taking time to make the video! Nice work!
WyldeMagiK np, glad you liked it. Thanks for watching, cheers
Can the similar process be used on plastic surfaces? Thanks
Thanks for the good advice.
If you don't have a buffer pad, can you do it by hand?
Not something for the squeamish! I learned this back in the 1980's from a pro. This is a good starter package into "buffing" as Wikipedia would say the "Document" "Video" needs more attention. Many aspects to deal with but just one for example would be the pad cleaner. If you don't clean the pad after rounds or successive grits you will be working with a dirty pad, grinder... The way you approached the A/C system a while back would be the way to deal with this subject. They are equally involved. I would like to see a series like this if you have the time to do it. You can make a mirror out of your automobile if done correctly. You know as well as I do Careful;Careful;carefully...
Curiosity Yes, buffing and polishing is much more involved than one would imagine. I probably should have done more to mention the danger's you mentioned in your comment. But yes, maybe I'll do a small series on buffing and polishing to get that mirror look everyone wants. Thanks for your comment.

Wd40 Only Removes paint transfer..
Very usefull chanel! Thanks bro!
+Gouve2Maicon13 np, glad you found it useful. Thanks for commenting. cheers
Your videos are interesting and useful Also saves a lot of time and money. Thanks for the advice and know how, thumbs up! :D
Hi thanks for the video I foolishly washed my car, silver color, with a green abrasive sponge pad. And it left circular scratches all over the car. What can I do to remove those scratches? Should I just follow your steps in this video and do the whole? The scratches are everywhere pretty much? I appreciate any help you can offer thanks
Gabriela Robbins take it to get buffed best to let someone with experience handle that and hope it doesn’t need a new clear coat
if its what i think it is then just aply a little bit of water from a duster.
Thanks for the video bro, helped me out
does WD-40 doen't destroy/affect the car paint?..
Yes it does!
Is it safe to do the whole car with it
background: pro. polisher of luxury cars. :)
thank you......nice work
Try banana oil that is used on nails.
Brains and Brawn! My kinda man. I loved this video. You did an awesome job explaining things in detail and it was easy to understand, even for the person without car waxing experience. Thanks.
+Eva Gall np, glad you liked it. cheers
Have you ever tried Dupli Color ?
Can u use this on phone scratches as well?
good job
Do u still need to apply clear coat? Or keep using wax when the color keep getting dull
t dub If your car is dull, your clear coat is probably wearing out. If its not too far gone you can use wax to prolong the life of it but to fix it you'll need to probably paint it. If you will be painting it mind as well apply both base coat and clear coat since the extra labor and cost of applying the base coat is small.
I have a 2008 BMW 328i my trunk got keyed and it looks like it is just the clear coat when i put wax it goes away but I want to fix it cuz after every car wash it comes back again do you recommend doing what u did in the video?...or maybe just buying a buffer?? Idk what to do without my trunk looking different from the whole car n I really don't want to pay for a new paint job lol
mikesterlb Yes, you need to have it sanded and than buffed. So yest you'll need a buffer, if you don't feel comfortable doing it I am sure you can higher someone to do it for a reasonable price. GL
lol Exactly. Hides and cleans then petroleum in the product starts eating away at the clear again unless you wash.
WD-40 doesnt really fix the scratch, its not even abrasive, so all your are doing is chaning the way light hits the scratch, and it will fade quickly.
Also
WD-40 WILL DULL THE PAINT.
1990 coach Rv
Supposedly nu finish scratch doctor is one of the better ones......SUPPOSEDLY
Do not use wd40 on your paint. As soon as it rains or you wash your car the wd40 Will wash away and every single scratch will come right back
I cringed at the door sitting directly on the concrete floor. Set it on some cardboard at least man! You're fixing scratches on the face of while making new ones on the bottom
Dude, it is just a door for demonstration purposes, it's probably about to be scrapped or repainted anyway.
damet garm agha!
So basically the WD-40 didn't do jack?
Son of a Zombie yep, WD-40 is no good for repairing scratches.
+RatchetsAnd Wrenches I wouldn't say that. for fill-in jobs instead of actual paint jobs, the WD40 is a good penetrater to clean out the scratch.
YOUNG MAN , TRY HAND CLEAR DO PRETTY DOG GONE GOOD AND SOMETIME USE ORANGE HAND CLEARING GRIT USE VERY LIGHT
Neat!
4:24 i see africa!
sandpaper is not nessesary. sorry my spelling.
Jus buy a black car then use buy black nail polish .
mjgarrett9885ify lol, way to plan ahead :)
This is a BIG BIG NO never put WD40 on your car paint as it damages the paint and when it runs down the paint you will NEVER get bid of the run marks this guy is showing you on a damaged used door
yea it works till it rains. so anyway
M 4.0.0
i didnt think WD-40 would remove scratches.
temporarily
to all you noobs or startup noobs... dont try this.. its not supposed to look blotchy/smudgy 7:51 . This guy is an amateur.
WD-40 also removes graffiti
WD-40 works great on removing glue from tape and stickers. I will not magically fill in dents or paint your car.
if you wanna remove paint from a window..... use WD40 ;)
Like your movies
.
Lmao pointless
that was such a waste of time lol so brutal to watch
sorry to say: Nonsense
IT DOES NOT WORK - CRAP.
REALITY IS DIFFERENT TO A VIDEO.
Bullshit ...
You sure like to listen to yourself talk. What a tiresome video!
IT WONT REMOVE SCRATCHES. A scratch is into the paint. It would be impossible for it to fill and repair a scratch. A happy Russian guy with WD-40? That's what sold this guy? He was probably the local WD-40 rep. LOL Cleaning? WD-40 is 50% mineral spirits. Sanding first? How about cleaning the area first and then rubbing it out to remove any paint left behind from whatever you rubbed up against. Then you can start to prep the area for touch up paint if necessary. A happy Russian guy? This video cant be serious, it must be a joke. As of my posting it looks like WD-40 sold 1,283 cans of their product to people for the wrong reason. By the way, while we are at it .... WD-40 is not fish food or a cure for arthritis. You might as well have mixed the WD-40 with some flour to make a thin paste and used that as your rubbing compound. If it doesn't work you can always use the leftover batter to make WD-40 pancakes. A happy Russian guy .... lol .... youtubenoob.
+Roger M You apparently didn't watch the entire video did you?
+Cody Ash why would I?
+Roger M Because he debunks it and goes through the proper process of wet sanding, applying compound and buffing.
+Cody Ash he's not telling me anything I didn't already know so what's the point?
+Roger M Damn, I guess since you know how to properly removes scratches from a vehicle that literally everyone else does in world. My bad man, my bad.
Brains and Brawn! My kinda man. I loved this video. You did an awesome job explaining things in detail and it was easy to understand, even for the person without car waxing experience. Thanks.
