This makes so much sense. The moon is so often tied to both mirrors and the idea of the inner self. It makes perfect sense that her mirror spells - few as they are - are her moon side showing, especially because... well, trying to give her moon-themed spells (without the mirror angle) is difficult cuz the moon literally is just a reflection of the sun. But that connection to all the mirrors she's seen that reflected her nightmares and insecurities??? I JUST.... idk, I feel like I always recognized the mirror association but I never made that connection to her moon self! Holy shit more videos like this please cuz this was fantastic.

Yeah i agree! ⚠️Off topic⚠️ I can't be the only one who thinks season 3 is the best season aswell as enchantix being the best transformation, i also wish the season was longer since it's so good and even though its been years since i was a kid and watched winx, i kind of want them to make a GOOD return
A little off topic, but I love how Stella's father is sunbased and her mother is moon based (even her name literally means moon abd her fathers name means sun or at least something related to that, I'm not sure) and then there's their precious daughter Stella who's name aparently litteraly means star. Which I think is so cute since she's her parents little angel and she's basically the star of the show (I mean that like she's always the shining one (no pun intended) and she's actually so underrated in her powers. She could literally be the STAR of the show as her name implies. And this makes me miss her sceptre even more, but perhaps they decided to get rid of it, because of the fact that she could not outshine (another not intended pun) Bloom as the main character
Thank u about mentioning the scepter because i also agréé that they got rid of it for no other reason than not making bloom looking basic next to stella, anyway stella Always gave more main character energy, i love her friendship with bloom and all
This is so on point! Stella is so much more interesting when the writers remember that she doesn't just hold dominion over sunlight. Her innate connection to light-related things like reflections, clarity, and insight are all part of what makes Stella an amazing character in seasons 1-3. I wish they did more with her in later seasons than just "haha dumb blonde is ditzy."
I share this sentiment. Plus, she is Iginio Straffi’s favourite Winx (Flora as well) which tells me that he designed her to be so much more than a ditzy pretty blonde
Stella would make an amazing protagonist in my opinion, and sometimes I wonder how the story would have been had she been the main character instead but oh well. Seasons 1-3 are perfect as is
@Will N Oooh this is interesting. I must say I’ve never read anything that states Sirenix is the strongest transformation. I’ve only read somewhere that Flora was the strongest after Bloom. But then again, people change details all the time. Musa’s my favorite so I lowkey hope there’s truth to that!
I was also thinking, Stella's mom is shown to use magic but her dad doesn't. Stella inherited her magic but shows herself as mostly her father's daughter (and eventually just goes on to live without her mom past their divorce). She may have issues with her Moon side because it reminds her so much of a side of her backstory that is complicated to her. Her dad's obviously very loving and doting, but perhaps she subconsciously hid the Moon aspect of her abilities because she remembered it was the arguments with the Queen of the Moon Luna that led to her parents splitting. What's interesting is, Queen Luna used the power of the Sun of Solaria to help the alliance in season 5. Seems Moon is mainly about energy redirection in various forms (in a sense, Stella could possibly do something similar to Bloom's flame sharing, albeit not as strongly). Additionally, Stella has a tendency to bury her problems and issues under sunshine and smiles (literally), helped by season 8 reinforcing the fact that in spite of her parents getting along and her mom even coming back to live with them, Stella is STILL affected by their divorce but hides it. She has a secret side to her but forces herself to shine through because she thinks it's what she has to do (as the episode said, the confidence worn by a queen), unable to show her full self out of fear it'll all collapse as it once did. Appearances are her main focus (be it for shopping, designing clothes, or just being the team's fashion pro in general). ...you know, her characterization in Fate suddenly feels VERY understandable in a sense (and Musa understands how she feels even more).
I feel like her moon powers are her clairvoyant ability she displays as stated by Faragonda in Win-X, her powers represent truth and clarity and the moon is able to dispel illusions and provides guidance at night
What a well elaborated theory, I love it! Especially the acknowledgement that the moon has no light of its own, it gives so much material for theories and fanfictions. You can even go deeper and say that another reason why Stella doesn't use her lunar powers is because of all the stigma around magic coming from negative emotions (you know, witches) that exists in the Winx universe.
it would be cool if her moon powers could be like using dark light to see the unseen or utilizing gravity , i would use her moon powers similar to if she were to be a fairy of light and dark but ofc not a good fairy who uses dark magic i would just take inspiration from that concept
@@harley4241 She actually did use her Moon Powers a bit I remember! She made Anti-Gravity Spheres which were used to help Train for Bloom!! Wow Stella is literally THE Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss...
@StarryPlays Ling ohh I didn't know that, where could I find that clip? But yea I wish she showcased more like blue-y greyish "shadow" and gravity magic and stuff for her moon side lol
To add that Stella is Star in Italian translation. I was also hoping a connection from her mom since her mom is literally the Moon based right? And in Paganism and other Spirituality practices, The Sun is the Father while the Moon is the mother.
This also explains why Stella’s friendship with Aisha/Layla is so fascinating. Without Stella’s Moon powers, there wouldn’t be Aisha/Layla as the Fairy of Fluids, and using water-based spells.
@Will N yesh but the girlies are NOT from earth and it has been already stated that their powers are not tied to earth specially, if it was Aisha would just be a water fairy and her and Stella would get along way better, no need to write a bible over such a simple non complicated thing, just think, don't over think LMAO
I never would’ve thought of it that way. When it comes to Stella’s connection to mirrors. People automatically think of her Sun side because sunlight and reflections and all that but no one ever thinks about the connect between the sun, moon, and reflections. Whether the creators intended this or not, I will gladly accept this as cannon moving forward.
I'm so upset at how much sense this makes and in 17 years I just never realized the blantanly obvious explainations for Stellas "random" mirror symbolism. I need some comfort food, my inner 5 year old is pouting and 22 year old me ain't feeling any better lol
I totally love this video! We generally think that moon powers should be white/grey colour light spell, that's why we never think about reflection (even though as u said everyone should know how moon works). The finale part about mirrors is simply perfect. I'd like to add just one thing: she had glasses when she was younger, do u think she took them off just for beauty or because she could reflect herself in them?
I have always thought about Stella as a mix personality likewise her powers but for some reason I could not make an association between her moon powers and mirror. Now everything falls into place. May I use this explanation for my Winx Club Fandom on Stella's powers? Of course I would make a direct reference to your channel and video.
Let's not forget that the moon, at least in Zodiac signs, represents the sentimental part of a person, and we all know that she's pretty complicated in therms of feelings. Also let's not forget about Believix and some other transformations with an emotional "passive" or spell, Stella's so well represented by the moon that she could be even the moon itself, but barely anyone could notice her inner "moon" self, because she shines; so bright that many could easily missjudge her. Yet, overall, she'll ever be a shining queen!
So The Sun represents her outside, beauty, her mirror And the Moon represents her inside, insecurities, her reflection This is exactly what they want you to think in S1, 2 and 3 The Charmix outfit, the spells and the mirror of truth arc all point to this But from onward, especially the shining sun era, they just forget about it and Shining mirror is just a COINCIDENCE
"....but that's just a theory A Winx theory. 😉" - that alone deserves a like ^^ and regarding Stella, giving her more subtle moon powers can also avoid trademark issues because the og moon fairy still is Sailor Moon, so not having Stella just being a rip-off is good for the franchise
This makes so much sense! I am amazed by your analytical skills, I never saw this that deep! And like the writers are so smart for linking everything up like this!!
the fact that i'm watching the french dub of winx club season 5 and stella CLEARLY says 'fée de la lune et du soleil' (fairy of the moon and sun) and yet the rest of the dubs just don't reference a THING about it. we could've gotten luna and stella having a convo about her moon side or stella having a mysterious connection to the moon when she was younger for apparently no reason.
6:36 okay and thats remind me of the Queen Luna(her mom) in the Winx Fate Saga...😅 since her mom is the moon so she has an evil characteristics in that live action(winx fate)...idk bye 🙂
OMG this is so good and actually explains a lot! I just wish the show would explain the concepts it has better, like for Stella's moon powers, better. But also, what about her star powers? If she's supposed to be the star to her parents sun and moon why does she only ever use sunlight? And, yeah I know the sun is a star but it's like one of those things that are different enough to standout.
