People live where they can afford to live. Seems elitist to drive around the poorer sections of town and show how the have-nots live. So, they don't live in new subdivisions. Why is that a thing? I grew up in Racine, left as a young adult 50 years ago. We were poor growing up but some of the fondest memories I have are how people shared what little they had with those less fortunate, they'd take time to encourage and were kind to one another. Our unstable family moved a lot, I went to 13 different schools in Racine by the time I was a senior in high school. Being a good person has nothing to do with the house one can afford or the car one drives. You have a car and a camera, so what?

I lived in Racine, too. But I don't think you're looking at it the right way. Racine has been getting worse at a faster pace than before. Why would I want to continue to live on a street where I had a shooting right outside my house? Why should I expect stray bullets to come through the wall and potentially injure, or worse, my children or me? It's not the income of these people. It's their morality and lack of conscience. Racine is turning into a mini Milwaukee and I want nothing to do with that.

@@ManuelFlores-uq3bh Hey Manuel! Not sure exactly which building you mean. The big building was Case. But I remember there were other buildings further down on Clark St. We moved to Cali when I was young. I can however tell you about the building at the corner of Racine St and De Koven was the shoe shine shop in the early 70's. On one corner of 20th and Racine St was the local bar and across from that was the neighborhood store with good danishes etc...

@Keenan Hunt From what I read about our history, Racine was a hub for run away slaves and the under ground railroad. There were several churches that exist today which helped the slaves gain their freedom.

@@blu3collar949 The area he was videoing is on North Memorial Drive and in the area of the prison. In the past they lots of immigrants, Italians was prevalent in that neighborhood. Times have changed and Rubberville is off of West Blvd south of Washington Ave. S.C.Johnson helped Racine along with others slowly clean it up, it still needs work but it will get done.

I grew up here my whole life and it wasnt easy and back then the neighborhoods were full of people and there was unity between our neighbors .I seen a lot happen everywhere in this town and now in 2022 it's just a bunch of little kids (12-19 )running around with guns shooting people over the dumbest shit and even killing they own homies . When I was a kid growing up on the Northside we all didn't smoke ..have guns or drink or rob people all the grown ups did that . Us kids we stole bikes got in the gloves if we had problems and played sports in the streets and gang banged cuz our families are gang bangers but we still cared for each other and when violence happened our WHOLE families would be outside having each other's backs !

There is Racine county, Milwaukee county and Kenosha county along the lake in SE WI. Milwaukee is the biggest city. I wouldn't say any of them are "bad." I grew up in Racine in a middle class neighborhood and I really miss it. It was a great place to grow up.

It depends on where your at, Racine, like any other city does have a county that is a little county on the out skerts. But, the neighborhood that he was showing towards the end ISNT all that sweet I personally live over their to this day, and especially rn their has been a lot of shit goin on, shootings, homicides, etc.

My friends and I swore that the two tone building on the left at 1:47 was going to be a mall and would have a new arcade bigger than Aladdin's Castle haha.I was and still pissed off to this day that they put that Jail there.First it was the cop house a couple blocks up then they do that shyt. Ever since then I payed more attention to what goes on locally when it comes to voting on what goes on in your neighborhood. Racist Jonathan Delagrave can SAD for what he did. But thank you to John Tate II for speaking out about how they went behind the peoples back. Racine was a nice place to grow up in but now its you either work up at the plant or you move out.

Sort of. This video shows the rougher area between memorial drive and MLK drive. That big building that you seen in a few parts of this clip is a youth prison. The city is a vast wasteland now. The south east side is much much worse.
