  • In our final travel vlog from the Asia Mega-Trip, we explore Shanghai before making our way to the airport and flying to Tokyo. We take a look around the city along with sharing details of our journey from China to Japan, mixed in with plenty of laughs along the way. Upon our arrival in Tokyo we share a room tour from our accommodation, located less than a 10 minute walk away from Tokyo DisneySea!

    Shanghai is a city rising with huge economic growth and LED lighting at night, however TOKYO is a DREAM CITY WITH SUPER DOPE OFFICE LIGHT AND NEON FUTURE CITY! Shanghai is good, but TOKYO IS GREAT! with the spirit of incessant fighting and exploring!

    I have been to Shanghai several times and I absolutely love the city. At times it's hard to believe that it's in China because there are people from all over the world living and working there every day.
    The tall structure that you pointed out at 0:58 is not called The Bund. That is Oriental Pearl Tower and it's a radio and TV antenna that you can go inside. There is a restaurant and an observation desk inside. That area on the other side of the Huangpu River with all of the tall buildings and Oriental Pearl Tower is the newer section of the city called Pudong. That's the part of the city that is most often shown in movies and TV shows here in the US. Mission Impossible III was filmed in that area. The tallest building in Pudong that you pointed out at 1:06 is the newest building in Shanghai and it's called the Shanghai Tower. It opened in 2015 as the tallest building in Asia and, as of right now, it is the second tallest building in the world to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
    The Bund is the former international trade district that you are standing in when you were filming Pudong and it runs along the Huangpu River. Shanghai has been a mecca for foreign trade and businesses for centuries and as a result, the buildings for those foreign businesses that now make up The Bund all have architecture from all over Europe. When you walk along The Bund, if it weren't for all the red China flags flying over the buildings, it actually would look like you might be in Europe, not in China.
    Anyway...just a little information for the future if you have some time to see more of the city outside of the theme/amusement parks. Shanghai is one of my favorite cities to explore since there is so much to see there.

    If you ever go to Japan again, you could go to Universal Studios in Osaka, and they're building a new Nintendo Land as well ☺️

    The buildings along the river on the side you were standing on at the beginning were modelled on the Liverpool waterfront as there used to be a lot if trade between the two cities in the British Empire days.

    I am ready to see Alex's expressions when you are at Disneysea. I am sure his face will be lit up with joy the entire time there. Also I am willing to bet both of you were disappointed with the long waits and poor operations at Fuji-Q... hopefully you guys were able to do the haunted hospital while you were there.

    Really enjoy the travel vlogs from the past year or so. Very helpful in showing how you would get from, for example, airport to city to hotel to theme park nice and easily. How was the language barrier in Japan? Less difficult/more English speakers than China I'd imagine?

    • @ThemeParkWorldwide
      @ThemeParkWorldwide  7 лет назад

      Thank you, we're glad you enjoy them! It was no where near as bad as people make out. Plenty of basic English in the busier areas
