@@BardometerKinda makes me wonder what it would be like if certain modern games had more of a classic style, like Unleashed and Colours. The biggest change would probably be implementing the Boost in place of the Spin Dash. I'd probably integrate it in a similar way to how it's done in the PS2 and Wii versions of Unleashed, where instead of one big Boost, you instead build up numerous mini-Boosts that last about 1.5 seconds each. I'd say this time the gauge starts with two Boosts and can have a maximum of four, with 20 Rings needed to fill up one Boost segment.
