This is Pam Kershaw, Doug’s wife of 48 years. Our son came across your video today and showed it to Doug. It totally made his day, which is nice because it’s his birthday. Glad he made you smile. He really is one of a kind.

Grew up Listening to Doug and other Cajun Performers. Family members of mine have played his music throughout the years! Cajun Joe is one of my all-time favorite Songs!
Doug Kershaw is my favorite entertainer of all time ...I've been a fiddle player since 7 ..and still watch and play along with Doug every day
Doug is still alive and is 87 years old. I remember him back when I was a kid

If I remember correctly ( and seeing him live and in concert) he had a fiddle in the shape of the state of Louisiana and it was blue. His playing was awesome to hear and watch!
FWIW, if you want to see more, there was a PBS special titled "Fiddlers Three". On it were Itzhak Perlman, Jean Luc Ponty, and Doug Kershaw. Classical, Jazz, and Cajun.
Just love Doug Kershaw. Thanks for reacting to him. The second clip was definitely more how I remember his fantastic performances. Once upon a time he was all over the tv on different shows.

Saw him live in Denver decades ago. IIRC he went though 2 bows that night. I have 6 of his albums, yes the vinyl type (now ripped to mp3's).

My friends and I became great fans of Doug Kershaw back in the 70's, when he toured through Seattle regularly.
I can remember listening to him from as early as I can remember. My parents were big fans and I naturally was as well. I got to see Doug live at the Devil’s Backbone Tavern a couple of years ago and it was awesome! Even though he was in his 80’s, he still had the energy and voice that made it just incredible! I’m 63 now and still listen to his music on a regular basis. He’s truly one of the best!

WOW! I've never heard of anyone review him! I have an old album of him. I never thought of him as "country", rather, Cajun music. His nickname was "The Ragin Cajin"😊

He put out an album titled Spanish Moss that has a range of music from ballads to love songs to foot-stomping Cajun music. I lost my copy of it and others in one of my many moves while in the military.

I have always loved Doug Kershaw. Something about him always reminded me of Rod Stewart. Maybe it's the nose. He used to be on the Porter Wagoner show a lot.
Kershaw actually had a hit in the early 70's called "Nickel in my Pocket." I don't think there is any live video but the single is worth a listen.

I’d forgotten how much I loved listening to him as a teenager, yes a teenager, I am now almost 71…yrs, I listened to the normal” music girls listened to back then. But just something about Mr. Kershaw & his fiddle 😀😀❤️

Saw Doug in Seattle in 1973 and he was ELECTRIFYING. This is why we say God Bless America.
I was stationed in Louisiana more than 40 years ago while in the Air Force. There was a morning talk show that came on every morning at 5:00 am, where they spoke French only and played Cajun music like this. It was like living in a foreign country.
That sounds like the show "Passe Patout" I used to watch it every morning before going to bed after working the night shift. My mother in law used to tell my wife that he was one of their cousins. He was from Hackberry, LA and we were from Lake Charles and Westlake, LA. Good times listening to his music.
Doug has a lot of energy.I remember watching him play,he has a large Cajun playbook.Jo-El Sonnier is another talented Cajun singer who rocks the accordian!
I've always loved Doug Kershaw! I saw him the first time around 1970 and was hooked!

I have loved Doug for 50 years or more, his energy, his love for what he's doing, he feeds off the audience reactions, feels their energy he is inspiring! Wow! Doug! My love and thanks to you and family!
I Went to see Doug Kershaw, early 90's not knowing what to expect. Lord Almighty...I sat there in stunned disbelief...he took the stage with his 300 year old Stradivarius violin.
And proceeded to dance, sing & play his fiddle while showering the front rows with violin resin powder, sweat(perspiration)& horse hairs from the bow. His bow would only last for 1 or 2 songs before 1/2 the horse hairs were flying around in the air & landing on him, the stage & a few on me. He has been playing violin & dancing before Lindsey Sterling was born.
He appeared in the rock western movie Zachariah
with Don Johnson & Joe Walsh. Kershaw is a good violinist, however he is the best "entertainer" I have ever seen. When he appeared on TV the directors would instruct him to stand still & not dance around- the cameramen couldn't follow him (what a shame).
I don't know why he didn't become mega super star.
There is nobody like him.
I live in Western Canada and in 1972, I got a copy of his self titled album and realized how great an entertainer he was and is. Nobody plays the fiddle with the energy Doug does. I still listen to the great songs from that album, Colinda, Natural Man and Trying to Live. His song writing is up there with the best.
Man I haven't listened to Doug Kershaw in years. The man could play a fiddle like a house on fire but the man was like an erratic energizer bunny on stage. 😂

I saw Doug many time at the fair in the Antelope Valley, we use to go with My son and my husband, we really enjoy his show, he is awesome artist. I like the best the Cajun Stripper…we like all but that one is awesome
Doug had an important part in the movie Zachariah. The first electric western. Great music and awesome plot. Also an early costarring part for Don Johnson (most famous for Miami Vice). I think you would appreciate it 😊

I was born and raised in south Louisiana. This is the music we grew up on. Doug is 3rd cousin to Sammy Kershaw. I recommend Wayne Toups. 🤗💜

The 2nd video is great because you see the folks Cajun dancing at the Fais do do (a Cajun Dance party)… brings back memories of my childhood. Incidentally, Cajun Countru is really further West in south Louisiana than New Orleans
I roadied for doug about a year and a half in 80 I believe . He was a monster talent . Long before i met him . I think him and his brother dusty sold MILLIONS OF alblums before then . We played with pure prairy league at the tagus ranch in ca . He played cajun bluegrass to vince gill vocals and was off the chain good . I will never forget . We plaued the palamino alot back then . He had Jay dewitt playing bass for him when i started . Of Rick nelson fame . The whole band rocked . Lots of fun . I rehaired his bows at night in hotel rooms to keep up w him . What a hoot . I thank the long lost Ed Warner for that gig .
I had the pleasure to see Doug at Milwaukee Summerfest. He was amazing!

I am SOOO HAPPY that you included the 2nd performance of the same song! The Johnny Cash version was like watching Doug play in a VERY controlled, almost sterile environment. Placing one super talented, high energy musician all alone on a huge stage behind a single microphone stand and asking him to sing and play the hell out of his fiddle for LESS than a minute and a half is like asking Pete Townsend to stand still for 90 seconds while playing the hell outta his guitar in front of a Sunday mass of church goers with their hands folded in their laps. That Johnny Cash performance doesn't exactly showcase Doug's talent as much as the second, noticeably less restrained live performance with a back-up band, people dancing and truly enjoying the music for 2 minutes and 43 seconds! Doug needs room to move when he's holding that fiddle!

Man I had forgotten about this guy. I’m 63 now and I saw him live in West Texas when I was just a kid. He was a madman on stage that night. I have seen many fiddle players since then including Charlie and none of them compare.
There used to be a Country venue in the San Fernando Valley in California called The Palomino Club. I saw a lot of musicians in that club growing up. The two that stand out in my mind the most was Hoyt Axton (he was so funny) and Doug Kershaw (the Ragin' Cajun). Doug was a whole vibe. So much energy, played the crap out of that fiddle with strings breaking and the bow frayed and everybody out of their seat dancing their butts off. He is AMAZING!!! The true difference between a fiddle and a violin--- The bridge of a fiddle is adjusted just a little and the strings on the bow is loosened a little and that gives that different drawn out sound.
The only concert I have ever been to was at the fair in Billings MT a long time ago. Was Loretta Lynn and Doug Kershaw.

got to see him live at the Clark county fair in Washington about 40 years ago. the man went through a lot of bows from sawin on that fiddle. Fantastic performer.

And don't you worry about your pronunciation, I've never even detected any accent except American English.
Back in the mid 80's while stationed at Vegas i ran into a guy name Doug Bowser( i may have misspelled the last name) who played in a lot of the small bars. Once saw him put his bow under the fiddle with the strings over the top and play " The Orange Blossom Special ". Check out the song by Roy Clark. Another one that can play anything with strings.
He puts me in mind of Robin Williams, this is what he would be like if he was a musician. 🌹❤️

I saw Doug Kershaw a couple of times in Texas, but I saw Frenchy Burke a whole bunch of times all over the Houston area. He was the most fun performer I ever saw in possible.

Kershaw's "Louisiana Man" is one of the most loved and covered songs ever. You simply cannot consider yourself a country artist if you have not done your own version of the song. There is even an incredible version on YT that is done with spoons.
Another one of his songs is Louisiana Man he also featured in a music video with Fats Domino called Don’t mess with my toot toot. Great reaction by the way.

I've been going through your catalog and just came across Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Cabelle performing how can I go on. I don't know if you read comments that get added later on after you've done the reaction. I don't know if any of the questions you asked were answered in the comments made when you first did the reaction but this is what I've been able to piece together. There are several interviews with Montserrat on RUclips. Thank you for indulging me and I hope I gave you a little bit more information
This is a link to Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe. She is a well-known Italian opera singer. Freddie was a long time fan of Opera. In particular he felt Montserrat had the best singing voice of any opera star. She was from Barcelona. The song had to be completed by 1988 to be considered for the opening ceremonies of the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. Freddie told her 2 two years prior to his death that he would not be there to sing it with her because he had AIDS. From what I have pieced together she was the first person that he told even though his bandmates were seeing symptoms in him. The gentleman conducting the orchestra is Mike Moran, who co-wrote the song with Freddie, and not Brian May ( you my be reacting to a different performance of Barcelona) have a different clip than the one most people react to. Not that that matters they're both awesome in and of themselves. But in the other one the conductor does look like Brian May because of the hairstyle and it's at night). So it could be the same gentleman conducting the orchestra but during the day you can tell it's not Brian May.. People get confused because they have similar hair styles. After Freddie had passed other singers contacted her to see if they would collaborate with her. She said that that was something special between her and Freddie and she was not ever going to repeat it . There are several videos on RUclips of interviews with her talking about Freddie and their collaboration. There's also a video of how they originally hooked up I just don't remember the name of it.
