    It's always exciting when a superyacht becomes available for sale for the first time. "Liberty" is a very unique vessel, and after enjoying her for many years the owner has now selected Northrop & Johnson to sell her.
    This gave me a great opportunity to go on board and show you around!

    I would offer them 15 million just because of how much it would cost to change the interior, the interior designer must of had an off day when doing this one it’s a shame because it’s a beautiful yacht.

    Wow - Great video, so why bugger it by talking about interior design finishings here right? Chocolate shag carpeting and polyester never goes out of style - just like sarcasm. I'm no fashion hog but red-piped puedo-denim I wouldn't put in a camping trailer I don't think; truly brutal on camera, but perhaps there is some appeal in person?

    I really loved that crew lift its a very decent yacht architecturally.
    I am not a fan of interior designs that are in my mind, too artistical for the majority of people.
    If I owned this yacht, I would probably have tonned down the rooms to a more accepting colour scheme for selling condition.

    • @arby1322
      @arby1322 2 года назад

      I disagree. The interior design is very calm with its muted calm colors compared to other designs with too much marble, or monochromatic black and white.

      @@arby1322 I agree with you that cabins are fine, but that saloon is way to busy with the various patterns and styles.
      80%+ on here do not really like the interior design, mainly the salon in particular. After my first comment.
      That goes on to prove my point, most people won't agree to purchase, unless they actually want something like that, which is narrowing your prospectus for whomever is interested in buying the yacht.

I've noticed that Northrop and Johnson rarely ever have a proper layout/deck plan on their listings (as opposed to Fraser who practically always have a really clear one). Personally I'd never even look in person at a yacht, before having studied the layout to see if it was worth my time.

      Part of the definition of "Exceptional" is: ****Of the adjectives, extraordinary is the one most often used for neutral or bad connotations*** In this case that is accurate. I suppose whoever buys this boat will need to calculate a full interior refit unless they share a 'unique' perspective on what is visually appealing, not 'appalling'.

    Hi david, another great video, i might add from previous posts, perhaps do a more detailed in what minimal crew you would need for each size of yacht from 24m right through to super yachts 70m+ and their costs to run a weeks charter or yearly salary to fuel/food/moorings/insurance/maintenance. One thing i have noticed though with most if not all yachts why haven’t they got a medical room in case of accidents involving owners/charters/crew. On cruise ships there are doctors on board. and can crew members be trained in other multi life skills and bring previous professions on board that could enhance the charting/owners safety and well being. One more thing would be good to see the crew interviewed and get there perspective on things, rather than a “below deck series” approach. As you always mention keeping the crew happy.

    The Main Lounge, Dining Area plus the Owner’s Suite really didn’t do it for me. I actually preferred the design in the guest suites to be honest.

    Not the most attractive of yachts. The exterior is average. And the interior less than average.
    Why would you place a stateroom above with the entertainment areas? .. means whoever is using that berth can't really retire in "peace" if the other guests are still up and about socializing. Surprisingly the owners suite doesnt have much of a view.
    All the clutter makes this yacht seem smaller than 50m. The beach club doesn't look particularly inviting either.
    And let's be honest, those crew quarters look more cramped than usual. Staff happiness would be a bit of a stretch.
    Not usually one for negative reviews, but this yacht is going to be a hard sell.

    The exterior lines are OK ...not great but OK, I could live with it.
    The interior is another story!
    Interiorly this is going to be a tough sell! This must be the ugliest interior that I have ever seen on a boat at this price point. The interior design choices are an assault on the eyes the only relief from which is entering the crew quarters where everything is clean and orderly. When the crew quarters are the best part of the boat you know the designer really effed up.
    It is hard for me to imagine anyone who can afford 18 million for a yacht would find this interior attractive - a place that they would want to spend time on board with their family and guests.
    As a charter yacht I suppose it could do OK...at the right price.

      David, "unusual" is the right word for the fabric choices, but "refined and supremely relaxing" definitely aren't! • @clifbradley
    @clifbradley 2 года назад +1

    Hey...you didn't say 'sumptuous' once! I feel cheated. Lol she is nice. Popular charter yachts always make me wonder though about crew turnover. The crew gets used to a constantly changing family coming on board and the money. Then when a a new owner comes on board and takes it off the charter market, how often do the crew wind up staying on? But do you really want a crew that is extremely money motivated? In a lot of ways I'm sure it would remind the owners of themselves and their desire to succeed. Maybe that's too much of a mirror though. And then finally, do most owners compensate the crew somewhat for lost charter revenue, or do they just try to find a happy medium, if such a thing exists. One of the many double edge swords you hear about in the yachting world I suppose. You can get the boat, but not the crew that made it so attractive, or you can get the crew but only if you don't buy the boat.

    • @lionelgower6877

      @@lionelgower6877 First time yacht buyers usually buy used boats though and usually crew contracts are through a management company. If you are a first time buyer you wouldn't have a crew and if you wanted to retain the crew, many won't stay as their contracts are through a management company the new owner may not use. I asked a yacht broker I know who's wife does private and charter hiring and he shared some interesting info about it. I was kind of shocked. Yachties are kind of snobby. Lol.

    Doing some calculations: with a cruising speed of 11 knots at a consumption of 150 liter of diesel per hour, this yacht produces
    19.5 kg CO2/km. When 1 liter diesel produces 2650 g CO2 and an average diesel car produces 120 g CO2/km, this yacht produces 234 times as much CO2 per travelled distance.
    Though a car will necessarily seldom (like as a boat) travel in a straight line btw point A and B, and hence produce more CO2 per distance. In addition, road travel will need a multiple of cars or a bus to move the 8 guests and 11 crew + all their stuff. Still, how can you warrant that a yacht like this will have a future? It, and all its peers, should be banned and scrapped immediately.
