With respect, I always compare this scene with the Legendary Jessie Norman Sieglinde. Jessyne was simply a wonder! 👇🏾 m.ruclips.net/video/vb_g8GXrZPc/видео.html
And to think that people used to criticize Jones and Behrens, who were far better than Stemme. And the Met’s staging might have been old-fashioned in the 1990s, and gimmicky in the 2000s, but at least they told the straight story. Anyway, I’m seeing Davidsen as Leonora in Forza soon, and she sounds wonderful in the rehearsals.
Holy cow... Stemme sounds small and more like a spinto looking for trouble which basically is true: Loss of focus and increasing wobble the last five years. Davidsen on the other hand is one of the best ever heard in these roles and one can only hope she develops into our next greatest Wagnerian/Straussian soprano of her time. She just needs to find some chestvoice and use blended with her middle. But almost nobody does that anymore...
@@draganvidic2039 Ofcourse it is different. Stemme does not have little focus. The voice is not there anymore. Davidsens way of having/ using a vibrato "already" now is very sad.
Okay this singing is STUNNING, but wtf is this production 😭they go from horror movie in the beginning, to practice session at the end??? Brünnhilde on PIANO?? I’m so confused but I have to laugh 💀these voices are on fire tho!! 😍
Is it possible to find out what they are reading in the score? I don't have any Wagner scores in my collection. It's the beginning, so perhaps the list of roles says that she is the mother of Siegfried.
Dear Barbara Baker, thank you for your comment. A central motive of Stefan Herheim's production is Wagner's idea of society's search for identity through the act of playing. Therefor the score is used and presented by the singers to remind us that the sense of the drama is not a realistic story, but a reflection about the meaning of art. So everytime the score is opened on stage, it stands for what we are hearing in the same moment. Best regards,
Wagner himself wrote these operas as Music Dramas based on Myth because they could communicate beyond time and setting. People don’t complain about Hansel und Gretel not being set in 1800’s Germany. This is a great representation of Sieglinde stepping into her destiny imo
I was going to press Like on this and then a bloody zombie leaps out at Sieglinde. WTF are men doing on stage in this scene!? It's an all woman piece - Sieglinde, Brunhilde and her sisters!
Male valkyries??? A concert grand piano? A book? Wtf is this? The music is Die Walkure, the staging and production are something else entirely. The pretentiousness of operatic productions nowadays knows no bounds.
WTF is this production? This is supposed the Valkyrie’s rock where Brunhilde is punished so why are there men here, Gollum attacking Siglinde, a grand piano. This is crap!
Lise Davidsen is very good. Great high notes, good middle, but could stand to support her "basement notes," much better, but whatever. What I want to know is why does Germany insist on putting on the most garish, nonsensical productions possible? I'm not even antagonistic to regietheatre, but this is downright obscene.
Absurd staging, incompetent Brunnhilde, terrible costumes. It would be nice to hear/see this Sieglinde in a proper presentation of Wagner's work rather than this travesty.
Horrible production. Bingo wings flapping about at the piano. Just what I think about when I imagine this scene - a grand piano! Not. Davidsen under the note as per usual, forcing it and letting her nerves and relience on watching the baton spoil things.
Horrible staging, the outfits are horrendous, the acting it's so mediocre, they have good voices (but the lower registers aren't good enough for Wagnerian opera). Wagner would hate it.
Lise Davidsen is a very promising Wagner voice, also with the stature of a Valkyrie. She blows the hollow sounding Stemme from the stage.
My GOD. This is incredible. A truly Wagnerian voice, after so many (bad) attempts. I cried my eyes out. I think we have a new great.
With respect, I always compare this scene with the Legendary Jessie Norman Sieglinde.
Jessyne was simply a wonder!

Und heute Abend endlich wieder live mit dabei. Der musikalische Höhepunkt des Jahres.

So rightly said about Stemme´s wobble. Sad but true. But also Davidsens vibrato is not pleasant at all.

Totally different at least and Stemme has so little focus in her tone.

I mean voices don’t last forever…stemme was absolutely magnificent for a long period of time. Eventually Davidson will decline too…
amazing lise davidsen ❤❤❤❤💖💖💖💖
I think that sometimes production designers forget that the settings and costumes are supposed to support the story and not become the story itself.
You don't wanna mess with them Valkyries, trust me.
`The likes not heard since Dame Anne Evans. Brava!

Is that a grand piano in the center??
Also, who's in charge of bustiers in this production?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The staging is absolutely stupid. Brünnhilde plays the piano when she hands over the sword to Sieglinde

Die Walküre as a cabaret act. Very nice.

Stupid idea. Ugly and pretentious. Deutsche Oper deserves severe budget cuts.

Right?! I'm disgusted at it as well, I don't know why Germans insist on making the most tacky productions along with the Frenchs.
This production is needlessly ugly.
Lise Davidsen was amazing but the production is unbearably ugly.
Davidsen ate up the horrible production wbk 💅🏾
Who can understand this production? How awful!

The wobble twins. Davidsen will be Stemme in five years.
