To me freedom is getting to choose outcomes, which of course we don't get to do. I'm trying to believe that Sartre and Frankel's notion of freedom is truly freedom, but it doesn't feel very freed. We get to choose responses but not circumstances or outcomes. Feels restrictive.
People are pretty much born with the instinct not to jump off a cliff or not to put hands into fire. So this seems like "essence". In adulthood we might realize we can overcome those instincts, I guess, so this is freedom of sort, but who wants that sort?.
Thank you very much for watching! Make sure to let me know your thoughts on the questions at the end of the video!
"Freedom" is making one eye look in one direction and your other eye gaze in another direction!
😂
Sick video bro!
Thank you!
I feel as if you could just drop all boundaries and get rid of your comfort zone
I’m curious what you mean by this

I’m very much inclined to agree

That’s true, although, I think Sartre would argue that because we can override these instincts, we still get to decide if we will let them define us
