It's been getting steadily worse since Life of Black Tiger and Firefighters the Simulation. They have some sort of quality control, since they wouldn't let Skyrim have full access to mods, but I've got a feeling that whoever is in charge of it is also letting all his relatives' stuff through because his mum told him to share his toys or something. Jim Sterling's Squirty Play series shows how the mess began less than a decade ago & it's gonna get worse. Kinda reminds me of the early days of computing, where anyone could make ZX Spectrum games and sell the cassette in the back of a magazine for a couple of quid - that's how history ended up with stuff like Beat 'em & Eat 'em, Dizzy & Streaker. My sister's 8yr old friend had that last one and her mum had *no* freaking idea that the MC was an overweight, balding naked old man who had to try to find his clothes before he got arrested for indecency. I'm still genuinely surprised that no-one has covered it on YT (like Octavius), I made sure the game is real and wasn't a fever dream or anything... Publishers also liked to pay teenagers something like £20 to make a game in two weeks, which they'd then sell & keep all the profits because they were using literal child labour and the children didn't know about stuff like royalties.

Tbh that No Russian level in the new Grinch game where you shoot up Whoville went a bit too far, but I get why they had to include it for the Cindy-Lou revenge plot.
This is honestly a totally functional game for age +3 with some rough edges here and there. Make me nostalgic about this tier type of games from 90s 2000s
The CO-OP of this reminds me of the old Sonic 2 and 3, where a second player could play as Tails who, while he could take damage and do most things, ultimately did not have any bearing on the game as long as Sonic didn't die. Tails would just keep coming back if anything happened to him. But unlike this game, player 2 added to the experience, because tails could fly (and carry Sonic) and tag-teaming bosses was awesome.
I can understand why it's objectively bad but my girl and I had a great time playing this game together. Sometimes a game is what you make it and in this case we found ourselves preferring the simplicity. The animations are cute, bugs are hilarious, and it just felt like nostalgic old-school gaming. Bad for modern standards? Of course. But in our experience this was a jolly good holiday treat to casually enjoy and not have to dump too much time into to complete 100%. We also got it on sale so it felt worth it for us.
