I just stumbled upon your Floating Home blog so l look forward to following your adventures. I've fantasized living aboard a narrowboat for years but unfortunately there's none in Seattle, WA. However we have Puget Sound, Lake Washington, and other lakes to enjoy boating. There's houseboats aplenty too. I've mainly gone kayaking, canoeing, and sailing over the years. I enjoyed watching you juggle your hula-hoops while waiting for your wood stove's smoke to air out. Jenny USA

lovely day, and a nice stash of fire wood. Those 3 legs on the chimney cap, can you slightly bend them out so they grip the tube better to stop it rattling? Also, perhaps a couple of inch split in the tube to let it expand over the fitting on the boat? Stay warm. 👍

With the wheel barrow situation if you get some lock tight nuts the ones with the blue nylon on the nutt it won't come back off again or you can get a small tube of it then put a bit on each nut then again it will stop them falling off the end of the bolt .. it's normally vibration that loosens them off .

I've got an axe so I chop my logs into 3 bits and some even more to make kindling. It doesn't actually take too much effort to chop them as I'm not very strong. Cant beat a nice fire though

Boat design features high on the list of comfort levels.
Having a stove in the bow is poor design. It always needs to be placed mid-ships.
A coal cage to burn slow smokeless fuel through the night essential.
For a lot the difficulty to run a stove is too messy and inconvenient hence some turn to diesel stoves.
Condensation issues feature as a serious problem unavoidable with current boat designs more work on this issue is needed.
Soaking matteresses are as result of condensation and poor boat design issues.
Having lived on a narrow boat for seven years you accept these problems and cope with them for the sunny days cruising in the sun.
