Great work on the van Anymore updates. I fitted 4x windows to my transporter t5 with no leaks yay me I also rebuilt the top end of the engine also replaced the turbo. I fitted 5 rear seats in mine as I have 6kids so need 8seats with the factory 3 in the front and the rears I fitted it’s been great I insulated and carpet lined the rear and ply lined and carpet the ply it’s looking great I love it. I got to get a diesel heater for the cold days but other than that it’s doing what I need it to do. Looking forward to more updates Regards Adam

This is with the cost of the boat included and split monthly. With a smaller boat, solar and batteries, foraging for dead wood ect it can be considerably cheaper. I am selling my home which I own and I am hopefully buying a newish 57ft shell with hybrid engine and insulation running around £35-50k. That's including 2pack epoxy blacking and painted. I will have to add ballast, floors and solar+ batteries. I can fit floors and design layout using lightweight materials like Carbon Fibre for partitions to save as much weight as possible as this means less fuel burned.

Do you still have to move it every few weeks in the winter...how do you do it if bridges are closed

Lovely boat and renovation. We lived in England for a year and had a wonderful one week holiday on a narrowboat. You completely renovated the bathroom. It looks amazing. Is there a holding tank for grey water and sewage? If so how often does it need emptying and how is that managed? Wishing you many wonderful moments in your beautiful narrowboat home.

I am approaching middle age and I am considering selling up and buying a Narrow boat. It's a big decision because where as my house will always go up in value, a boat wouldn't I am thinking of renting at first just to see if turns into a passion that will last. Because selling a boat and returning to land will be expensive, I need to make sure I have a way and means to be flexible. One of the big factors for me is mental health stability and of course having a dog with me. If anyone has any experience in taking the plunge and what to expect pls let me know. Tips and what not to do will be appreciated.
