Breaking OPEN geodes & ENHYDRO geode! (water inside)

  • We are breaking out the hammer and chisel to crack open a bunch of geodes from Indiana and Illinois and we got SUPER lucky and cracked open an enhydro geode! We saved all the similar geodes so we can try to polish down the husk to make polished enhydro geode balls but we broke open many more that had amazying crystals and botryoidal formations inside! Big thanks to Tyler ‪@GeodeCrackerCollector‬ for gifting us these amazing geodes!

    First geode was my favorite. All of them were exciting! Really no way to know if there is water inside unlike enhydro clear quartz crystals or Herkimer diamonds! Went Herkimer diamond mining recently. Would recommend that experience to all rock lovers.

  • @largent45
    @largent45 2 года назад +1

    That first one was my favorite one! That cool botryoidal formation! It will probably clean up with iron out, but i think that one looks cool orange! And a few of the others that had the pockets inside, they will clean up in iron out as well but some of it, the brown mineral isnt iron staining. It is a secondary barite formation over the botryoidal chalcedony so the brown wont come off. Its too bad about the enhydro geode! They are so cool and they look really cool polished so you can see the water inside through the geode crust! But maybe some of the one you have left are enhydros! Those really hard to break ones that were solid are geodized fossils. I recognized them from the box of them that tyler sent me! They arent really very geodized though. They are often solid with crystals, but i think would be super cool to cut and polish so you can see the crystal habits as they formed together, and the outside, when held together, can see the fossilized crinoid calyx, or brachiopod, that it was at one time! Ive got several crinoid calyx in my lot of goodies that tyler sent, and once you get the idea of their shapes, you can see a lot are actually geodized fossils! which even when filled with crystalization, is pretty darn cool that they were once an sea animal that died and was thoroughly replaced with crystalization! Tyler has told us what meeting up with you has meant, as you were one of his biggest influences for his channel. And now, his channel has just taken off, as yours did for you, and i couldnt be happier for you both!

    If you ever head to Kentucky south of Louisville, we live by a creek that has some of the most beautiful geodes around. You never know what it will have in them. Would love to take you there. Not to mention the fossils you can find and other minerals. Lots of different color chert too.

    I feel like maybe next time when someone tells you that there may be enhydro geodes in your batch you should just cut them open instead of somewhat exploding them into many pieces lol.. because that enhydro geode had a LOT of water in it and would have made for a very nice specimen. My heart broke with you when it broke open all wet. Oh well, live and learn right? Hopefully you’ll have better luck with future specimens. 😊
