    Apparently this is an Enhydro Agate and it has been lick tested at over 2 million years old. We might have unlocked the plague. But it was a fun science experiment.

    • @Molb0rg
      @Molb0rg 6 лет назад +63

      it wasn't rock stuff. One thing they didn't do in that experiment, just take that stick and also move it on the surface of the gel, and also another thing just open it in the room and close.
      no bacterias in the water of the rock, pretty much guaranteed. there could be microcracks and such, we can't tell on the video. Assuming there wasn't, it was most sterile naturally occurring water sample they could get hands on.
      judging by the number of colonies it produced - a density of bacterias wasn't that high.
      but it just for fun, testing kinda done in the way, but if it would be a more serious stuff it would be done a bit differently. Despite of that - quite predictable results.

      On top of that, I don't think that taste alone can tell age. I know it can sometimes tell quantity, but if they seriously act like they can give an exact age on the rock by taste alone, they are denser than the rock itself.

    It's very likely that the quartz water had additional bacteria because they wacked it with a hammer and introduced particulates into it (besides what's already floating in the air). ;) A much more sterile room and process would have been much more interesting. Also, getting that quartz water under a microscope would be very interesting.

      Well, you are right, I have a bacteriology degree and its well known that the blood agar plate can be easily contaminated even with a breath if you are close the petri dish, because it has real animal blood and it works to grow almost any kind of bacteria on the environment, even some kind of fungus can grow easily if the spores are floating in the air, if they want to do a propperly culture of bacteria coming from the inside of the rock, they need to use latex gloves, face masks , a sterile nichrome handle and of course they need to work really close to a Bunsen burner and leave the petri dish inside a calibrated incubator at least if they want a reliable result, but the video still funny and very interesting.

    • @jamesnw
      @jamesnw 7 лет назад +11

      but our cells constantly die and are replaced with new ones. So our cells never get older past a certain age, as they are then replaced. If you were licked, assuming the person had the ability to 'taste' what age your cells are, you would likely be only a few months old according to the person's tongue, since it is your skin that's being licked, not ALL your cells. So something like this would be totally inaccurate.

  • @BigBoneBusiness

    Can you imagine what might have been living in that? Unique microscopic life could have evolved and lived in that tiny, isolated environment. I'm no scientist so I could be 100% wrong and nothing was actually kicking in that rock-milk. But can you imagine? Potentially millions of years of isolated development. You guys might have just made dozens or hundreds of species unknown to science extinct for the sake of a taste-test in your workshop.
    That's pretty metal.

    • @ether9163
      @ether9163 6 лет назад +40

      being isolated would make it not evolve, as in, theres no reason for the bacteria to evolve because of the isolation. the same thing happened earlier 2017, polar ice caps melting released a bunch of frozen viruses but they haven’t evolved for so long they’re useless now. still pretty metal how the guy straight up licks that shit lmao

Seriously just look it up it's actually quite fucking cool LOL
