I do not understand how seeing blood in horror movies is acceptable and period blood is not. That what I love about your videos, that you make others feel less gross in their periods ^^
I get confused when women do a vaginal birth and hate seeing their blood. What do they do, make the nurses give the baby a bath before they touch the poor thing😂
I think her showing it is fine, and shouldnt cause an uproar, I am not really squeamish, but for me seeing blood in a movie, is different because I know it's not real, but when I know it's actually real, something about it makes me VERY squaemish lol
Ro Nab yeah I get that, but it’s not like that but comes from a cut or a wound... that makes me sooooo squeamish like ugh I can’t BUT that blood does nothing cause I know that I’m not hurt or in a health risk
It’s fine but it’s just real blood that comes from her v
Elizabeth Butterscotch babies generally aren’t that bloody after birth. They are covered in a fatty substance that protected their skin in the womb. The blood doesn’t really stick too well to that. They give your baby a bit of a wipe and they look fine.
i love how you're not even phased anymore by showing us your blood! :)
lol I've officially become a crazy lady :)
No. It's not necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people find when they start using natural products without all the chemicals...a lot of people see a lighter, less crampy period. I mean, still share with your doctor. But no, it's definitely not a "bad" thing if the period becomes lighter and shorter.
Some people have a reaction to the chemicals in disposable tampons, and this can cause them to bleed more profusely.
I was excited to try theses until I read did further research. They do contain sand, mold, and bacteria and are not safe for putting up your lovely parts . Darn it :/
I, too read that article and I, too FREAKED (the utter heck!) OUT! Until I realized: That the study that "proves" that Sea Sponges are "unsanitary" tested only 12 sea sponges, and found: only ONE to have dirt, mold, bacteria, sand...
Yeah!
Just one and the study NEVER says out of those 12 sponges tested where they come from Before this testing. Did they test sponges straight out of the ocean? Because those need to be disinfected before use. Did they test Sea Sponges that were properly cared for?
Mostly what I think is that Anything can be dangerous. Especially IF it is not properly cared for.
Heck, water is good for a person, but a person can die from a water overdose! So I just think that these scare articles are missing crucial
information so that their Reader's may make a truly Informed Choice.
Most people get their sponges and even if the Sea Sponges have been disinfected or (even bleached paler) the new Owner goes and disinfects them yet again by boiling them and treating them with Tea Tree Oil, Hydrogen Peroxide, and/ or white vinegar.
I know a lady that does ALL of these! She understands that boiling reduces the life of the Sea Sponges, but she would rather Be Safe, than Sorry. And she keeps very good track of the age, as well as Condition of her Sponges.
One thing I will be doing is having ALL the disinfection tools on hand (3% hydrogen peroxide, tea tree oil, as well as white vinegar --- both which are a natural way to disinfect lady items.) so that when I use my Sponge I can trade the "used" one for a completely disinfected one. Also I will be keeping a Record of when each Sea Sponge was bought, how many times it has been used as well as any times I was foolishly tempted to just reuse the Sea Sponge without disinfecting it.
What another study did find: Women sometimes fail to properly disinfect, OR they fail to hang their Sea Sponges up to dry, which is Essential for preventing mold growth.`
So to recap: 1 out of 12 sponges was contaminated in the study the article references. (I know it scared me too, at first!) If the Sea Sponges is improperly cared for, by mistake it may cause problems.
Also, If a women fails to wet the sponge before inserting she can cause abrasions, that can cause dangerous problems. An improperly used Sea Sponge is NOT Safe,. However a properly used one is.
I, will be using these Sea Sponges. BUT I will also be keeping Menstrual Cups, and pads on hand with me for backup. As a just-in-case scenario so if I get someplace, and need to clean out my sponge, but forgot my tools and cannot hang up my sponge(s) to dry out properly then I can use something else temporarily.
In fact a lot of women (I may actually do this instead) only wear their Sea Sponge at home, and wear Menstrual Cups with a Light Liner away from home, because they are easier to care for, and easier to manage.
Just what I've been researching. ;-)

Post Script: Good Luck with making your own Choice as to whether or not you want to use them. (I'm a strong advocate of Women making up their own minds as to their Personal Care needs and desires!)
It makes me so happy that I live in a time where instead of being forced to remove ourselves from society during our periods we can instead show the blood on camera and happily say "LOOK HOW MUCH BLOOD IT GOT!" Hahahaha
i actually use these and in public i carry a small jar from relish and i drop the old one in and pop in a new one. my jar contains water and tea tree oil. so no smell or problems and once home i wash them
good idea!
Michael Mitchel I always jsut made sure no one was watching me rinse mine and put it back in
Michael Mitchel That's a good solution but sounds heavy
Michael Mitchel Tea Tree Oil is not good to put in your vagina. I don't exactly know why but I read an article about "Things that should never be put in your vagina" and that was one of them.
Wouldnt the tea tree burn? Or cool... one time i got tea tree shampoo on my vagina and it was not pleasant.
I'm the kind of person that gets bored of videos really quickly but I also spend a lot of time on RUclips I find myself skipping through videos a lot but with your videos always watch every second LOL
Same!! She's just so interesting!
Jay VonnGee same!
I seriously loveeeee the fact that you show everything, even the blood. You're the only person I know that does that. I subbed to u this summer and I've looked forward to ur new period video reviews every month. Please don't stop!
Lexii Love Amen
lol at "I feel so bad, this use to be an animal" 😂
lmfao. we're using animals to maintain the vag
dreamflight6000 i wish ppl would think this while biting into their steak or hamburger 🙄😐
StephyPlantbased are you vegan or vegaterian ?
Diamond Lady44 nope i am just eating plantbased
shhhhhhhhh. I love eating meat tho.
bahahaha the part when she put the first one in and SpongeBob popped up I about died laughing lol
:)
I really cracked up so loud at work watching this and I saw that lol
Sea sponges are not actually animals, they have no central nervous system, no organs, no thoughts, etc.
"By definition, sea sponges are classified as animals - although, this was debated for centuries, during which time they were considered first as coral and then as “half-plant and half-animal organisms” - but everything about their life cycle is far more akin to that of a plant. Specifically, they grow like plants, they eat like plants, and they have no organs or brain or nervous system, meaning that they are not self-aware, cannot think, and feel no pain of any kind. Additionally, when harvested correctly sea sponges do not die or incur injury; instead, they grow back stronger and fuller than before, like a plant that has been pruned, and at the same time release spores that settle to the ocean floor and form into new sponges."
luxconcept I find this easing...shoving an animal in my vag makes me worried about like animal cruelty...besides it's just unsettling to me.
The most basic difference is the type of cell. Plants have cell walls and typically produce chlorophyll, while animal cells are covered by membrane.
@@megangoodhart i don't think clams or oyster are animals, my opinion though.
@@megangoodhart Fun fact! There's a minority of vegans who eat clams because they don't consider them animals and they can't suffer.
@@cheskasummers272 I mean anything in the kingdom animalia is an animal
I didn't even know this was a thing.
Briana Rumley I feel like I've heard of sponges before, but not reusable tampons. the idea of putting a sea sponge up your vagina was so weird and kinda gross to me that immediate dissmisal of the idea results in me forgetting it the few times I've heard it. This was a great review though, far less squicked about them then the cotton reusable tampons.
I would use gloves 🧤that’s just me
I love that my periods are synched up with your videos
bbstaraimee oh my God, mine are too! lol!
:) PERIOD SISTERS!!!!!
bbstaraimee same! haha I work in a predominantly female workplace and were starting to sync up too! it's ridiculous.
LOL this is too funny, I am also synched up!
Me too!
Oh my goodness!!! "A snack for my vagina." 😂🤣😂🤣 I died!
:)
Thank you for making these videos. As a woman who doesn't have a mother or sisters to talk about this stuff with.. I appreciate you making these videos for people like me. XOXO
Dude, I need to switch to the healthier shit. I love these videos so much, I've watched this entire series and I'm so grateful that you're willing to do these and put all this information out there for all women to see
Lauren Kile
Yes me too
a small water bottle would work for cleaning in a public bathroom. just squirt some water on it and then wring them out in the toilet. I have never used those but that sounds like it could work.
true!
Yeah at end of the day theres always away to make something to work if you really want it to
I was thinking the same just has a small water bottle with you during that time maybe with some peroxide in there too :)
My thing is... In the women's restroom if you walk out of the stall with blood on your hands, everyone will just assume you had a tampon leak out all over the string or whatever... Everyone has ended up with bloody hands at least once for whatever reason.
Also at school you would have to walk outside with the sponge
She said: "my family knows I'm crazy." I love this so much!
15:32 tho! 😂😂😂😂
I love when you make these videos. They are my FAVORITE! I seriously love how open you are. It makes me sad that girls get grossed out by this stuff and are not even willing to try them. I am currently using the lilly cup and have been for 4 months and it is the best. i will never switch back. I love going around and telling my friends and family about it. I wish more woman would be open minded. My periods are so much easier.:)
Jessica Charlotte i've been really interested in the different cups, but i've always been too scared to try them. ii'm only on my second period, but i've used tampons before. i'm just super scared because cups look really big
Your makeup looks amazing. You're so pretty. I absolutely love your videos and the fact that you are just completely 100% yourself. It's very refreshing.
Kelli - I know way more about your cycle than any of my friends or family members.... but I do really appreciate how candid you are - and honestly I had no idea how many options I had until watching your videos. Thanks for doing all that work for us ladies! :-)
I LOOOOOVE these period videos. I look forward to them every month. You've convinced me to try a menstrual cup.
I just have to say I love your reviews!! I love how honest you are and that you show everything!! It's great to see someone who has had children do these reviews because let's face it after kids everything is different. love love love you!! happiness and blessings to you
Love this series...I'd feel weird asking my friends about it "hey how's your period cup??" lol but your videos are VERY informative without being boring. THANK YOU!
Kelly Brigance i actually do that with my friends 😂
I am SO interested in all your review videos, I've been binge watching them all and they're making me excited to try new products.I've been wanting to try the cup and products that are reusable and all natural but have been scared and basically putting it off. these make me excited and willing to finally try them!
This is SUCH a cool concept. I love how open and honest you are. It's extremely helpful!
I am really loving this series! I have always been curious as to how the reusable products perform. Thank you for sharing with us!
I actually love you. This is probs my 20th video I've watched of you and while you're hella raw and open; everything you say is so informative and wish more women and girls were as open about topics as such. Thanks for your contribution to women's health Kelli!❤️✌🏾
I'm definitely picking up these and a couple of other products you reviewed! Thanks for these videos and I definitely need to show these to my daughter's because this is the best example of menstrual education I've ever seen. You actually show what needs to be seen and give tips on great and economic friendly products!
i love this series and how raw and honest u are .
Thank you!
You're an absolute hero for doing this Kelli. Can I request updates on what you go on using, and how you feel about them the more you use them?
I'm so fascinated by your period videos! I think this is a great series.
I freaking love your period product reviews! They are quite informative. I
just ordered some sea sponges and I didn't even watch the whole video. Well, I watched most of it. Lol.
i can hear Elaine's voice now "he wasn't SPONGEWORTHY" lol
I love that you show everything! Nothing worse than a review where you can't even see what's going on! It's pointless. Love your videos. Just found you today and been binge watching your videos! Subscribed too ❤️❤️❤️
Gosh Kelli I found your cloth pads video and I think I’m in that rabbit hole to watch all your period product videos. So excited to binge!
Yay you did my suggestion. I know you were kinda on the fence about it in the first place so I am super happy you reviewed them.
:)
I love your real talk. I'm trying to watch ALL your period videos. Thank you for doing all you do. Very informative and you make periods less taboo :)
Really liked this video and seriously considering trying out the sea sponge. Thank you for making another review like this Kelli, I really like them. Always watch to the end.
You are an amazing woman! I discovered you yesterday and watched your period product videos all night last night and some of your vlogs. You're a so inspiring.
😘
Thank you for this series! I can always count on you!
Sooooo excited. I have never been so excited for someone to get their period... except that last pregnancy scare of mine. ;) lmao
I feel so close to you. Hahahaha, like, i have only ever seen my period blood and my best friend's. We're like basically BFFs. lmao
Sue Z Same 😄 got so excited when I saw it in my suggestions.
lol
I had no idea that this was even a thing! I have had the same experience with having shorter and easier periods since starting to use more natural stuff! Thank you for bringing some REAL reviews! :D
I love how easily you speak, how comfortable you are speaking about anything...especially about menstruation. Thank you. I learned a lot.
You are honestly so amazing. These videos are the most helpful reviews I have see and I'm always waiting for the next one haha. I took your recommendation on the cup and I love it so I might go buy some Thinx and these sponges next!
Aw yay!
thank you for this! just found this video and i love the review, all the work you put into this is amazing! i’m defenitely subscribing because i really struggle with my period🩸❤️
This video series? MOST. HELPFUL. THINGS. EVER. Thank you!!
I love how your first video you were like "John, should I show it? I don't know!" and now your like "ooo! lets all look and see whats up there!" lmao! You are amazing! Thank you for this comedic and educational gold mine! Please keep doing this! You are my new favorite RUclipsr!
"This is a snack for my vagina" hahaha! Dying! Love these videos
:)
Chelsea DeRuiter 😂😂😂
I used these about eight years ago, and liked them. I can't remember why I stopped, so thanks for covering this topic and reminding me they exist. I do enjoy these videos. It makes me happy to see how many women appreciate your openness and honesty. This is a great community!
I love how you're helping us break the mold. For most of my life I thought that the only two options were conventional tampons and pads. Then I started contemplating about the cup but I figured that it wasn't for me. But now you've showed me some other options and that's great. Thank you! I only would like to ask if there were any particularities to doing number one and number two with the sponge? thanks again
you answered my questions about these perfectly once again! Thank you 💋
these videos have been a game changer for me! I just purchased a ton of all natural products and I'm actually excited to get my period to try them out lol
I love that you are doing all these different products. I would have never thought of using all these different types of products. Ever since I was a preteen starting for the first time all I knew was pads or tampons. Of course in the late 90s early 2000s these products werent was well know, but anyway I use the Lena cup now and I will never go back to commercial pads and/or tampons again. Thank you so much for all these reviews.
I had no idea they're were so many healthy options out there until I stumbled onto your videos. Thank you so much for making them! I've always had a lot of pain when using tampons so it's nice to know there are better options.
5:33 Thank you for this. I like that you included that, it makes me very happy, and I feel really accepted.
These videos have revamped my desire and love for reusable period products. Can't wait to try these sponges on my next period.
I love that my first time watching you this is what I get. . The normalcy of this is on point!
I love you! lmao you are the greatest! my daughter always asks me why I watch your videos and I tell her it's because you're real!
"Snack for my vagina." 😂 Best video I've watched all day!! Thanks for the review.
Like a nugget, lol
thank you for giving a truly honest review and not leaving anything out.
More power to you 💪 girl! Thanks to your detailed video, I got the strength to use the sponge. 😌
your videos have changed my period game in some awesome ways!
You're a real woman, You are so helpful, I love your channel
Great video. I saw these on the site you mentioned and wondered about them. So glad I found this video. Thank you. They seem to be a great alternative.
Omg, your teeth are sooooo white! Making me want to get that whitening kit you have! Also, as always great video and thanks for sharing your menstrual cycle trials :) it's always hard to find real reviews of these things.
:)
I love how informative your video on a product I wanted to use was. Thank you for normalizing a normal bodily function.
I tried cloth pads because of your review. I'll never go back! I'm inspired to make my own now
yay! Aren't they the best!?
Girl, I just love these videos.. so educational. I have really heavy, clotty cycles. And, I absolutely know that tampons do not help. I'm totally going to try these sea sponges out!! thanks so much!!!
Did u try it?
I have never seen been able to continue to watch a video that was more than 10mins. Even if it was a period life hack (etc). But the first video I watched of you was a period review and I watched the entire thing and was not once bored of anything. Then when I watched your other period videos my first question was "Can she please be my second mom?" I absolutely love your videos and they are so interesting. I also suffer from bad cramps and to know that you do as well and you say this things help make me want to buy all of them. Thank you so much for your awesome content!!!
Thank you so much for this series. it's so honest and helpful.
thank you for watching!
thank you so much for reviewing these! I've never heard of this option. The chemicals in regular tampons are scary, organic tampons can be expensive.. so these seem like a great alternative!
I love my cup.
You have opened my eyes to reusable menstrual products! I bought a cup and it's ready for my period this month... and now I'm thinking I will try sponges too! It weirds me out that big companies can put anything in disposable tampons and I think we all need to think more of the environment and keep an eye on what we are putting into our bodies! Thank you so much for making these videos!!
I really find these videos really helpful and really enjoy all of your videos. I'm so glad I found your channel.
Thank you! Welcome to my channel!
I think in public you could carry a pouch to put it in and put a clean one in then clean the dirty one when you get home.
Good tip to tie a string around it, losing it or forgetting it in there worries me about using these.
Tania Espinosa maybe even like a waterproof inside lining.
thank you for being brutally honest first of all. Secondly, thank you for reminding and encouraging people t8 be accountable for the choices they make.
:)
This series is so helpful! Thank you ♡
I don't know if you're reading this since it's been five years since the release of this video, but I just want to thank you for being such an authentic, beautiful and brave human being. I just came across this video after purchasing a sea sponge tampon and for me, the first time watching this channel - and I have to say: you are a rare gem in this universe. Talking about and documenting your period so straightforwardly is really brave, but that's not the only thing I'm talking about: there's just something very special about you. I think you are a healer of some kind, an empath for sure. Thank you for existing and inspiring me with your energy, angel. I wish you the best. :)
i LOVE how real you are!
I laughed way too hard when you said your vagina would eat the nugget for dinner. Maybe it's because I'm a nurse but I am so unphased by your blood- I was eating Cheerios while watching your review.
I honestly don't consider a sea sponge an animal; they have no neurons or muscle cells, no mouth or rectum or GI tract, and no sexual organs- just DNA that kinda places them into the animal kingdom. I was curious about using this instead of a beauty blender; so thanks for the mini review!
I've also noticed that since switching to a divacup my periods are a lot lighter and nowhere near as painful- I think it has a lot to do with the chemicals traditional tampons and pads have; they can irritate the vagina, and the chemicals can alter hormone production. So you are for sure doing yourself a favor by using these products
I noticed that my period was shorter as well. I just finished my first cycle using a Diva Cup for the first time. I have endometriosis as well and my period s usually last 2 weeks or longer. I used to have a Mirena IUD and it didn't help me at all. My menstrual was just as long and even more painful. So I had them take it out. This was also my first cycle off of the Mirena IUD so if anything it should have been even worse of a period. But it only lasted 4 FREAKING DAYS!!! I was in disbelief! I did also notice that my cup had a strong suction to my cervix after it popped open after insertion. I'm curious if the suction also caused me to bleed faster and heavier bc the cup was sucking the blood through the cervix. I mean it makes sense in theory. And I did have to dump my cup every 3 hours due to overflow. (I'm a VERY HEAVY bleeder. Usually have to wear Depends) But I haven't heard anyone talk about that happening to them... 🤔
Acoustic I was using two products and having to change every 20 min...a super plus tampon and overnight pad. Sleeping was not an option. Going out was not an option. I switched to washcloths in disposable underwear basically homemade reusable pads. I tried the diva cup and because of my physical makeup internally it was not working all that well but it has also reduced in length and flow level since stopping the use of pads and tampons. I'm going to definitely try the sponges since seem like they would conform more to my oddly shaped "lady bits"
Would you classify the sea sponge is more of a plant or an animal? I'm a huge biology nerd.
Do you think using organic tampons that are unbleached would help a lot?
Plants have DNA, even some viruses have DNA.
I love how real you are. keep it up
I just ordered these from this same company and THEN remembered your video! So here I am watching your video again 💞
I have been a long time follower. Thanks for sharing. How did I not know about all of theses natural products. I am 38 and started my period when I was 15. Thanks for sharing your real experiences with us. I am learning a lot.
To be. Honest I really really like her shower curtain, I kept staring at it the entire time 😂
I LOVE this series! Thank you for sharing
I appreciate your work for us. I've my cycle immediately lightened up once I used the cup and the sponge looks fantastic.
Great review, and I absolutely love all of your videos! You have a beautiful family...may God always bless you!
thanks!
Thanks for another helpful review! You've got me wanting to try these!
Also, what lipstick are you wearing? Love it!
love ur attitude, thanks for making this video!
I don't think I'll ever use the sponges, but you've got me sold on the cup. Can't wait to see your reviews on the other cup brands. ^^
another great video! im excited to try my cloth pads i just bought, tried a liner and loved how comfortable it is😊👍 thank you Kelli❤
hope you love them!
Searching for gold 😂😂😂😂 You got to stop with these jokes.
Your like the big sister that every girl needs to help them with products!! These I'm HIGHLY considering getting. I mean with the new video out about the tampons having that titanium dioxide in them it's something I'm looking into and doing research on. I've honestly only used pads all my life and my first tampon at age 29 just a few weeks ago.
First period video I've watched. Been t grossed out too before but this one intrigued me! Wasn't actually as bad as I thought and I'm no considering using them as i hate tampons! Thanks for putting these vids out there!
THanks for watching!
This has been your best one yet! 😊
I hadn't heard of sponges being used this way before. This was very informative. I really enjoy this series that you are doing. I purchased a menstral cup after watching your diva cup video. I also want to purchase the reusable pads.
So happy you're enjoying them! I LOVE my reusable pads and now the sponges!
Thanks for your videos. I have stage IV endometriosis and switched to a cup back in January and didn’t realize there were so many other options so thanks for doing these videos. Also I just ordered endovan and can’t wait to get home to pick it up. It’s funny that you mention the whole public bathroom issues. I am an over the road truck driver and all I ever use is public bathrooms. I carry wipes with me and have a spare cup so I pull one out put it in a baggy use the clean one then rinse at the sink if no one is there or at the truck with a gallon of water
You makes a great job with this tests. I really appreciate it. Sorry for my english.
thank you for your videos Kelli they have been so much help
I love your video, thank you so much for making them :) can you please make a video on reusable/biodegradable tampon options to use when swimming?
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! LOVE YOUR MAKEUP AND STYLE! Your menstrual product reviews are everything. I want to totally ditch traditional pads and tampons because of you. I've made my list and will only buy enough to try it out at first. I used the Diva cup years ago but hated it. Too messy. I'm willing to try again.
