      Would you recommend the Femmy Cycle Cup for a person who has never used a cup before? And is it one of the softer (not super firm) cups that you have tried? I am wanting to try a cup, but am nervous because I feel like some look too firm and I would not find them comfortable enough.

    • @BookNerd4Music
      @BookNerd4Music 6 лет назад

      I like the FemmyCycle, but it does have learning curve. I think it is soft but its only for people with low cervix. Which is why I only use it during the beginning of my period (Kelli also mentioned it here, that she does also). I go thought I was the only one that switches back and forth on cups. I use the LENA cup. They have great customer service too. I bought a cup that was too big on amazon, and they sent me a smaller one for free directly from their office.

    I’m 14 and this is the first cup I’ve tried. I’ve had my period for a bit less than a year. When I first used the cup I had a small and it was pretty easy to use. I left it in about 10 hours and the cup was half full with bold on the outside but no leaks or spotting. The next time I had my period I tried it again and my period was a lot heavier than usual ( For me the first year was pretty light). I left the same cup in for about 5 hours. I felt some “bubbles” as well and a bit wet so I checking in the bathroom ( I wasn’t wearing a pad since I didn’t need one before) and it turns out I was leaking really badly all over my underwear which I had to throw out. My mom then gave me her size medium or large Me Luna cup to try ( which was sterile!) I found this cup a lot harder to get in because it is bigger and firmer but it still wasn’t that hard. I put it in around 6:30 in the morning and had leaked right through my pad, underwear and jeans by 1:15. The cup was only about half full though. Luckily my friends were there to help me out. At night, I wore a large overnight pad and the big cup and still managed to leak through to the mattress ( I slept about 8 hours ). I haven’t tried another cups but while watching this video I’ve found things I can relate to like the bubbles. I haven’t experienced cramping that I can link to the cup. This is my experience as a 14 year old and yours might be different I just wanted to share mine.
    EJ
    P.S your videos have really helped me get more inside info on my period and cups which I think are great for your wallet and the environment and I’m trying to convince my friends to try them as well.

    This cup is made of TPE and not medical grade silicone as the other ones you tried. Normally the firmer silicone cups stay rounded even after removing them but this TPE (which is also a very safe material) gets softer as it gets warmer inside and so it deforms to the shape of the vagina. (The cross-section of the vagina is not rounded nor oval, more like a crescent shape.) So this is why a TPE cup will look deformed after removing it. Medical grade silicone cups are more flexible, I personally prefer them to TPE. Oh, and I must mention: A LOVE your videos!

      Also worth noting that Meluna's TPE is medical grade as well. It's the same stuff that's used to make catheters.

    This is so valuable to the menstruating community! When I bought my Femmy Cycle cups, 4-5 years ago, I basically chose it blind. I did a lot of research, to be sure, but at the end of the day, actual feed back from a human about what the cups are really like was something that was lacking, at the time. Even now I am learning more about my Femmy, like the fact that there are a couple of new models, that I didn't know about, until I saw your review of the femmy. After doing some research and measuring, following that video, I discovered that some of the pitfalls that I had with my femmys may be due to me having a "low" cervix. Without open and candid discussion about our bodies, and their differences, I would never have even thought that that was a thing that might explain my issues. I have ordered a pair of new femmys and they should get here any day. Thank you Kelli!

    I’ve tried the divacup, the Fleurcup and the Meluna small and this is actually my favorite. I’ve had cramps, pain inserting and taking out my other cups. Also, I always had pressure and wasn’t able to pee.
    It’s the first time I didn’t have a leak. The MeLuna Cup is a dream! It’s much smaller and softer, for girls that had pain with other cups, this one will probably help you out! Yes, you can be smaller down there and other cups might be too large for you, even though other people say the contrary!

    Oh my goodness Kelli! I found your Diva video today and I’ve managed to waste nearly half my day watching your vids and sewing when I shoulda been cleaning! I love that you are so open and honest about menstruation. It is so wonderful to see a generation of women finally breaking barriers and taboos about our bodies. I was recently introduced to SaaltCo through a FB group and have been dying to try a cup. My problem is that I’m a little older and have Hashimoto’s Disease which affects my body’s hormones. I haven’t had a period in 4 months, but I’ve gone through most of the other hormonal issues attributed to the menstrual cycle each month. When I do have a period it usually lasts 4 days and get so freaking bloody. Have you ever heard of OB Ultra tampons? They are literally the size of my thumb. On days 2 & 3 I have to change my tampon every 2 hours. Very rough on my at night for sure. I don’t want to spend the money on a cup if I’m not going to need it, but I wanted to share their info with you. The ladies of Saalt Cup Academy use their FB site as an open forum to members to talk about the cup and get real advice from real women. It’s pretty great! Saaltco.com

    I like how you have shared, saved me from trying all those other cups. I have noticed that you can stop the leaking by taking a flushable wipe and cleaning around the cup and vag area after cup placement. It makes a world of difference. I have also noticed that my periods are shorter with the cups. I think the suction helps get that stuff out faster!!

    This just broke my heart. I recently started using menstrual cups and the me Luna was the one I went with. It’s been my holy grail but I will agree when sleeping in it, it shifts a little. I wish they sent you a L because the medium I don’t think is recommended with multiple child births.

  • @007vix
    @007vix 6 лет назад +4

    I’ve used MeLuna for many years. When I first got them they were the old shape (now the “shorty” size), and I absolutely LOVED them. Then they redesigned them a few years ago into the “normal” size they are now. The “popping” you felt I experienced after they redesigned it (and I got it in the sport thickness, big mistake methinks) I also felt like it just didn’t sit right sometimes and I had leaking often. I kinda drifted away from using it regularly because of that.
    They recommend the “shorty” size/length for women with a lower sitting cervix or ones who have gynaecological problems.
    Because my body has changed since starting using them I recently went back to the “shorty” size (in classic and soft) and I’m really happy with that length now. I also find the ring pull and stem are the easiest to grip.
    Perhaps try the classic shorty large with a ring pull end?

      @xiusmiles 5 лет назад +1

      Your comment has made me want to give the shorter cups a try! Sometimes wearing the regular Meluna feels weird because it's too low ;;

  • @shannybanany6276
    @shannybanany6276 6 лет назад +31

    MeLuna cups are made of TPE. I have 3 and the oval shape seems pretty standard. Plus being TPE it heats up and moves more with the body. They go from small to extra large and have a shorty line as well for those with a low cervix (they also have soft, classic, and sport firmness levels I think you have the classic and probably should have tried the sport firmness). I used to love them till I was blessed to try a cup that isn't even on the market yet (which I love this new cup more than all the others and I'm dying for the finished product!) There's also a brand new cup design making it's way on the market and I wish I could remember the name! It was or is on kickstarter.

      Yes, Meluna has so much variety that I actually wondered if she did their sites own quiz first or compared it with other brands (it is available to do on their EU site but oddly not on the US site) or if that is just what they sent to try it. I think the Meluna Large with a "stick" stem would have been more similar to her past favorites than the one in this video. Still this is a cup recommended if the long stems didn't work and a "v" shape with a rounded end rather than a full bell shape so even with the correct size, stem, and firmness it still might not have worked. They are just so different. And by "Keela cup" do you mean the one Flex came out with? Super curious about it as well.

    I love being ecofriendly and reducing the amount of garbage I use. About a year ago I tried the lily cup, and the first time was fine, a little discomfort but I thought I'd get used to it, but for the second month it hurt so bad I never used it again! I sincerely thought that all cups would be like that. I'm so happy I found your videos! I don't even know how I stumbled across them but have been watching them all night! Hey Kelly, just wanted to let you know that your TMI habit over several of these was super helpful! I went with "order a bunch of super cheap ones on Amazon, so at the very least, I got a good idea of firm/soft, short/long, etc before I plunked $40. I hit paydirt with the larger softer cups, 2 totally different ones are both just as comfortable - meaning I couldn't feel them without paying close attention. Thanks! And if anyone reads this and isn't sure, just go buy one or several and try it out! I wish I'd done that way back when these were new and I first heard about them instead of waiting so long! Oh the money I'd have saved, along with so many other benefits!

    Kelli I will probably never meet you in person but I just wanted to say thank you. I have always struggled with menstruation issues and have always felt so much shame and discomfort anytime it came time for it to happen. Seeing another woman speak so freely about these things and even being brave enough to show the blood just left me feeling a little bit more able to become more comfortable with myself and my body. The first video that I watched of yours was the thinx panties video. I felt like they really did change my life and after getting used to cleaning them etc, lol obviously I got more comfortable with myself. To be able to walk around and not have to worry too much about putting on some toxic tampon or ruin all of my nice underwear really did change my whole life and the way that I think about menstration. Until I got thinx underwear ( not true, I started with the anigan evawear but did get thinx anyway), I couldn't even say the word " period " in conversation without giving it some kind of euphemism. I now am a proud cup user and I wanted to share that I am exceedingly glad that I stumbled upon your videos. I totally understand that you are more than just your period reviews, but from an unrestricted lady from Texas, Thank you!!!!

    Hi Kelli - I just wanted to say a big thank you to you! I started watching your period videos probably about 9 months ago (which is how I found you) and bought my own first set of 2 cups from a Groupon deal. They were tough to figure out, but since I have such heavy periods, they were still a blessing to me. I'd been wanting to try out a Sckoon cup after watching that video, but waited to spend the money. Even after 5 months using my el cheap-o cups, I still would have difficulty getting them to open, but this month I finally got my Sckoon! What a difference! As a SAHM who also homeschooled, I knew I would go back to work when my son graduated, but I wondered HOW on earth I could work outside the home when my periods were so awful! Now I have less trips to the bathroom throughout the day (and night) and FAR less cramping! It was you who inspired me with the confidence to try a menstrual cup! Thank you so much! I'm so grateful I could nearly cry! Seriously! I could hug you!

    I'm really sad you did not like it, I bought a MeLuna about a year ago and it has honestly saved my life! Looking at the chart on the box I picked a size M and I think it is the perfect size for me. I never had a problem with it not springing back or not sealing properly since my first cycle and I find the material to be just fine. It was such a life saver, I had had knee surgery and worrying about my period when I could not go to the bathroom alone was not something I was excited about. I only leaked twice in over a year of use and I work out in it completely safely, even squats are not a problem! It also was way cheaper than 24$, I paid about 15€ (but in Germany where I bought it they tax differently all feminine products) and after all this time I can honestly say that I don't find it to be "badly" cheap. But I guess the point is that with cups you have ultimately to try for yourself, what is right for my vagina can an will not be right for someone else's!
    As always, thank you Kelli for giving us your honest opinion ♥

    Just goes to show how different we all are :D
    It's my second day of using a menstrual cup. I chose Me Luna (small, otherwise identical to the one you have in the video) simply because a local retailer carried it and it looked alright.
    I HAVEN'T LEAKED. NOT EVEN ONCE \o/ Not the kind of spotting you have shown either. I went for a bike ride and after did a smear test with a finger before removing it. No blood on my vaginal walls (or outside the cup)!
    My cup does the same oval shape and the bulb at the end feels kinda useless but removing it is easy enough. I may punch some more holes in it (I'm learning two is uncommonly few) but so far the suction hasn't bothered me.

    I definitely think this cup is too small for you! I have the size small, prior to having a baby it fit very well! Sometimes it was even too big and it hurt to put in! So there's definitely use for a small small cup :) Now I've had a baby (a biiig baby) and I definitely have to size up, I tried the small and it was just sliding out haha But overall I loved the Meluna though!

    I no longer have a period cuz I'm on the DepoProva shot to get rid of them; my periods were so bad that I'd use 2 Super-Plus tampons PLUS a pad and run though all that within 2-2.5 hours. Turned out to be from fibroids and I had the worst removed, but didn't want a hysterectomy to get the others, hence the shot. I say all that to say that I STILL watch your videos (1) cuz they're so fascinating and you're such a wonderful host! and (2) so I can suggest things to my daughters and friends... I just wanted to thank you for your honest videos! Back in 2016 I was really unsure about using a menstrual cup until I found your video. Although I was a bit freaked out, your honest words and the footage of actually using it really helped me. Just talking and imagining something, especially on a topic like this, sometimes just isn't enough. I bought my first cup in October 2016 and it really changed everything about my period! It was actually a Meluna, so maybe it's time to get a new cup ;)

    The MeLuna has been my first cup, and I love it. Since it's softer than most cups I think it works awesome. Working out it's worked pretty well. I've just gotten the saalt one to try it out, a bit concerned since it's firmer and I'm affraid it will make me cramp up more than the MeLuna.

    I love watching your videos! I am always thankful that you do these truthful videos showing everything possible on youtube. Your videos are very helpful and informative. I've been trying to find a new cup that I could use that has a bigger capacity maybe, since I do still experience overflow leaks. I am not huge "down there" but small cups feel too small for me, like you have mentioned in your video. I saw a new "cup" called Ziggy cup. It looked very much like the soft cups, which you already tried in your previous videos. I was wondering what is so different about the Ziggy cup and the soft cup. It states that Ziggy cup has a really really big holding capacity, about 2 times more than the usual cups. Would it be possible for you to review the Ziggy cup?

    The first cup I ever tried was meluna medium at the age of 22 because that was the only '' high quality" cup available in India at that time. Total waste of money. Although the cup never leaked it is so hard to get it to open. I had to literally churn my insides for 5mins to get the damn thing to open. Only C fold worked on it no other folds opened up. C was too wide for me. It still is.
    Few months later I bought lunette and wow!!!!
    I noticed so much comfortable and I'm in love with small lunette. On my heavy days I use saalt soft because I need more capacity on my heavy days and I thought lunette large would be too firm for me. I don't recommend meluna to my friends because the TPE material is very difficult to pop open.
    But every body is different. What I don't like may be someone else's favourite.
    But I would suggest to spend extra bucks and buy a high quality medical grade silicone cup for 2000rs.

  • @Amanda-mn6vb

    Personally I like the MeLuna cup. I purchased it last week because I just had my period on the day I went to get it, i didn't except it to turn that way since I have hormonal disbalance and i wasn't planning on getting one soon since my period is not the way normal periods are. So i got my period earlier and the day it started i had nothing to do. Due to quarantine and etc. I couldn't order anything online so I went around my city to search for cups. I couldn't find any anywhere, but then i found a pharmacy at the center of the city which offered only MeLuna cups. I was so happy to find a cup so i went on and got a size M. I wasn't sure about what size to get but i had watched a lot of videos before deciding to get one and size M looked the way a normal cup looks (and i have a really heavy flow). I got it and went home so excited (i always used to get my skin irritated when using pads and it would get itchy no matter what I did, it got too dry down there so I really wanted to switch to something else). As i went home mom said that there's no way I could put it in, but i am so stubborn so i did it (it was expensive too). After i placed it in it was as if I didn't have it in, i couldn't feel it. As time went by I used to leak a little, but i also didn't unfold it correctly because I thought that's how it should be since it's sucking in and there isn't air into the vagina. But it's been a few days and I haven't leaked today, yesterday there was just a little, but as i said my flow is really heavy. I am still learning, but it feels wayyy more better than pads. I'm starting to get the hang of it. I recommend menstrual cups over anything else. 🤗❤️

    I had a similar experience with the meluna cup. I ended up putting it in my period kit i keep at my grandma's house. It was also uncomfortable for me whwn sitting in certain positions...im just very aware it's there. I did buy the livia, but i contacted them and asked if i could do a review and get a discount. The discount wasnt a big one. Like 20% and then i asked them where to send the review for them to put on their site and they said they dont do that. I did get mine for the lower price but it was still mega expensive. For me it's not an on its own solutiin when my pain is very bad but it is an on top if pain meds solution. They do have sales and if you review their gelpads and flower pads you get 20% off cupons for your next purchase. For me sometimes the gelpads make me itchy and they dont always last a full period, but the relief ive gottwn from pain is worth it enough that when they ran their valentines day sale i did buy a 2nd livia to keep in my period kit for my grandma's house. I visit her often and we live in diffefent states. I was worried i would forget my device at her house and that would be very very bad since it does help me so much.

    MeLuna is made from TPE instead of silicone so it doesn't pop open very easily. That's why you might find it a little bit different to open it, and why it was squished when you took it out. X

    I wouldn’t mind paying $40 for a cup if I knew it would fit. I have two cups already and here is what I’ve learned. I have a really low cervix and abnormally heavy periods. Most low C cups don’t hold enough. I’m using my Lena inside out, it feels kinda annoying but I’m dealing with it.

      You should try the Merula cup. I think it holds 38ml, but it's also an incredibly short cup. I haven't tried it yet, but I have heard many people with low cervixes and heavy flows rave about it. It's also shaped like a fish bowl and does not have any suction holes, so I think it's harder to leak with it too.

I have several nights each period were I have to get up to empty my cup because its overflowing. Anyone experienced this and know what some options are for helping this? Also Kellie what do you use to keep your cups from discoloring? (Or were the ones at the end ones that haven't been used yet) My Sckoon turns brown more and more each month.
