I bumped it to 10Gb and gained double digit performance on some games 🙂
for your info: you can add exes to steam as a non steam game and that will add the controller support to each game that way. psa: the software keyboard in the recent steam update, is now the same as the steam os software keyboard.

@@MRCroosingTootH Yes, it has 16gb of ram but it's an APU (GPU and CPU) share it. So adding more RAM has huge benefits. I really can't even explain enough how big of a performance increase I got from this, and to clarify my Win 11 Install is on the internal SSD and therefore utilizes the speed of it for the RAM as well vs an external boot drive with bottlenecked speed through USB.

I switched to Beta program and also typed in -gamepadui yet when I start up Steam it's the same ole same, nothing changes and it doesn't boot me into SteamOS gaming mode. Any reason why?
For me, this only happens when I have Steam Client already running in the background. You have to kill all the steam client processes in task manager and then reopen it for changes to take effect.
Nice! Can't believe how quickly windows improved in the steam deck. Not to brag but I managed to play halo infinite, titanfall2, chivalry 2, killing floor 2, GTFO, and Warhammer 2 online at medium settings 60 fps on steam OS. I would like to install win 10 on an external HDD for productivity though
I installed the steam lcd drivers for windows, however the change resolution section is grayed out, already tried updating the drivers and windows pops up a notification that the best windows drivers are already installed. Any advice is greatly appreciated 😊

Just make sure to read the github documentation for Steam Deck Tools so you know which tools are safe to use regularly and which ones you shouldn't enable if playing anti-cheat games.

You're welcome thanks for the support. Well if you not gonna run fifa or valorant then you are better off with windows 11. However, activation wise (if you want to activate your windows) you can get windows 10 keys for 6£

DS4WINDOWS uses "vigembus drivers", most other controller emulators on windows also use "vigembus drivers". I use "Steam Deck tools" to emulate an xbox 360 controller which is not so different from emulating a playstation controller on windows. So just use " Steam Deck Tools " to emulate steam deck controller as an xbox controller, this will not get you banned. Be careful not to activate the other features in " Steam Deck Tools " because the other features will get you banned. However, Steam Deck Tools does not turn these features on by default. And when you try to turn them on, it will warn you of anticheat ban.

It's best you reinstall the games on windows and sync your saves. There is a program that can sync ROM saves between Steam OS and Windows, but I don't remember. If you're interested, lmk and I'll find it for you

Yes open swicd and go to.settings and click disable buttons when you play. If you have double input in analog sticks then disable mouse movement also for when you play. You can set button combos to turn these on and off from shortcuts.
I get really slow download speeds on steam deck using windows. Is this normal? Audio also doesn't come out of hdmi only the speakers. Can this be fixed?
Seems to be you didn't download the drivers for audio from steam page and slow downloads speeds is usually if you are downloading a file to micro SD card with low Wright speed ..
Windows 11 is the option to go with IMO. Also you definitely DO NOT want windows installed on an SD card.. You will be limited to 90-100mbps data movement which will entirely stunt windows performance in all directions.

@@TA_Tech i tested it only in 3 games all from different launchers, Warzone 2,0 on steam (not playable usually with out windows) Riders repuplic on ubisoft and Rumbleverse on Epic games all had the same issues, but using the browser watching netflix or stuff, it did never happen at least i never noticed( maybe bc it´s rly just a sec with out connection) i tryed many solutions but nothing worked, like power managment and uninstalling the wifi drivers any tipps?
No, go to device manager. Find the sd card device make sure you find the right one. Then right click and click properties. Then uninstall it. After that you can install the driver again.
You have to have Steam open and running. If it is and you still have the problem you have to look at controller configuration under desktop configuration in steam settings.

Either or. New decks has fans with slightly lower rpm and slightly different angled blades meaning quieter with same cooling. Old Decks have a louder fan prone to more whining. Both decks have replacement new version fans for like 30$ online everywhere and the fans can be easily swapped out. SO.. Up to you honestly sir.

That's a lot. I love windows but all that just makes me want to stick to SteamOS. Might dual boot once I can afford an m.2 upgrade

Afterburner didn't work for me on steam deck
Steam Deck Tools has a module that can cap the framerates like SteamOS can.

Furthermore. Steam Deck Tools suggests that you fully uninstall Glosic or SWICD before installing.

You need to reformat the SD card to NTFS to work with windows
It's best you reinstall the games on windows and sync your saves. There is a program that can sync ROM saves between Steam OS and Windows, but I don't remember. If you're interested, lmk and I'll find it for you

As a programmer I do use it for coding and other working purposes. It is great if you buy a dock.

Using the same aplication. Delete the steam deck settings from it and apply

You can upgrade , its not gonna delete your apps , games , etc ...
But it's gonna take a long time to upgrade

@@TA_Tech i tested it only in 3 games all from different launchers, Warzone 2,0 on steam (not playable usually with out windows) Riders repuplic on ubisoft and Rumbleverse on Epic games all had the same issues, but using the browser watching netflix or stuff, it did never happen at least i never noticed( maybe bc it´s rly just a sec with out connection) i tryed many solutions but nothing worked, like power managment and uninstalling the wifi drivers
any tipps?

Hello, playing FIFA 23 from origin and with Steam closed i had this issue where i was getting double input with SWICD, how do i fix that?
Just disable buttons in SWICD settings.
Can you fix the SD card ejecting itself all the time especially when being woken up from sleep mode?
Hmmm that never happened to me. I suggest deleting the drivers for sd card and installing them again.

No, go to device manager. Find the sd card device make sure you find the right one. Then right click and click properties. Then uninstall it.
After that you can install the driver again.

You have to have Steam open and running. If it is and you still have the problem you have to look at controller configuration under desktop configuration in steam settings.

I have both. If you have the budget go for a series x and a deck. But as for Cod the deck is perfect

Hello friends, I will receive 2 steam decks next week. One is mid-September and the other is an order 10 days ago. Which one do you think I should get for myself? I read comments on the internet that some of the decks produced at different times were better and some worse
The new decks have quiter fans that's all I heard to be honest
Either or. New decks has fans with slightly lower rpm and slightly different angled blades meaning quieter with same cooling. Old Decks have a louder fan prone to more whining. Both decks have replacement new version fans for like 30$ online everywhere and the fans can be easily swapped out. SO.. Up to you honestly sir.
New decks only require 40W power instead of 45W
