I agree some of those Iceland jobbies are not worth the money, esp when they use imported meat and loads of fillers it's basically the flavour enhancers in the sauce you're getting the high from 😂
Even without the royal crest all that local bacon and sausage looked absolutely amazing,and from a local farm shop,the comparison between that and supermarket mass produced stuff,wow your a lucky man having local to you,cheers gareth.
Looking back on your previous video, the price for the farm shop products was £11.50 which I think is much better value than the £13.95 you paid for the one portion of fish , chips & peas up the lakes.

@@markjohnston7869 But dry cured bacon is the way it was traditionally cured. It's not really processing. Even wet cured is still just sliced bits of pig but cured more rapidly. I don't think I've ever had bacon that wasn't cured in some way
That’s done it !! I’m about to pop over to a local village shop/farm shop where he makes the sausages, burgers etc. And they have good bacon. The bacon & sausages were not on my list for today but I’m adding them now 😂

You can't beat quality ,local farm produce .This reminded me of getting maple smoked back bacon and free range duck eggs from a little shop supplied by a farm near our old house .Dear god ,the sandwiches made with those and proper fresh bread were amazing .Yes they cost a bit more but you can really taste what you're paying for .Not for every day (Sadly ) .
Absolutely, I would rather have a tiny bit of quality, than a plate full of second rate. Like Marks & Spencer Pork Sausages. But the sausage casings you get in sausages nowadays puts me right off. I will give it a try next week when I am in Cumbria . I haven’t had a duck egg because I was informed the yolks are too rich, which was off putting. Lidles thick sliced Tiger Bread is lovely too.
There is nothing to beat properly made, properly smoked bacon and sausage. I know everyone goes on about healthy eating, but if you only eat it once in a while, not every day or anything, I think a decent fry-up with good quality food is perfectly good for you, and worth it for the enjoyment. There are no farm shops near me and I don’t have a car - I am so jealous!
It's all bull, meat the healthiest thing you can eat and saturated fat good for you, I eat only meat and eggs and bloodwork fine and have not seen a doctor in ten years
I hate commercial bacon that's been injected with water, so when you cook it you get this white gunk in the pan. I need to find a local farm shop like this. There's a lot to be said about being happy about what you're cooking/eating.
Butchers don't pump full of water do they? Get the same with supermarket chicken, so much water when you cook it but bought some from the butchers and they were so much better
When i was a kid, we stayed at Holmrook in Cumbria, at a farmhouse bed and breakfast run by Sam and Joyce Leak. Mrs Leak bought her sausages and bacon from Woodhalls. We really looked forward to our breakfast. Lovely people, great memories.🤗

Used to call in on way back from Eskmeals ranges, never tasted Cumberland sausage as good since those days. 2nd best was a butchers at Kirby Stephen set back on the main street.
BREAD, Hey BFG, when I get down to a piece of bread like that, I cut it the other way, cut it pretty close to the bottom crust , then take off the top, leaving the nice soft bit for the Missus. It also means that you dont get all bloated out with a load of bread. Noticed that you havent added water to cook that Bacon then!?🙂
Another great vid, which makes me want to try this farm shop one day. I can thoroughly recommend Garside butchers in Ambleside, and their sausage rolls are absolutely superb !

They probably do mail order, like the farm shop near me - which Prince (now King) Charles has also visited. Quite a bit further South than Waberthwaite....... The "fit for a King" comment in this video might also be applied to the farm-shop I mentioned here, because they have a photo in their cafe of King (then still Prince) Charles standing in the farm house porch....... From what I gather, he seems to retain quite strong ties with the farming community here in Cumbria, and in Yorkshire......I used to work with a guy who is an entrenched member of the huntin' and shootin' community on the Cumbria/Yorkshire border, and on one occasion, he and a small group of guys walked into a small, rural pub on the North Yorkshire border, to find (then) Prince Charles and his entourage having a drink. My pal noticed 2 guys sat together in the corner, drinking orange juice and constantly scanning the room. He also noticed they had bulges under their jackets.......he reckoned they were carrying 9mm pistols.
I've not been to his shop in a few years. Was always there getting his Cumberland Sausage. It was the best in the UK. Amazing food there. I must go back soon as its not far from me. Another great video.

When I did holiday cover at Sellafield, I used to call for breakfast at a "butty van" at the side of the road near Broughton-in-Furness. Woodall's sausage butty and a decent brew! If the timing went right, I could call at Waberthwaite on the way back. For those that might get lost on the way to the western Lake District, Woodall's products are also stocked at Tebay Services on the M6.
Hi Gareth, it all looked lovely, you could see it was too quality. I liked the look of the back bacon except i don't like smoked bacon, i would buy the normal one. You could see when you fried it that it was good quality as no water came out. It was a shame about the bread. Glad you enjoyed it

My mate works for one near me, which has an amazing bakery on site. And I find farm shop's aren't as expensive as some people may think.
Occasionally yes I totally concur. But you must appreciate this is beyond a lot of peoples budgets. However if you can afford it why not.

The best bacon I’ve ever tried was some fancy M&S maple cured & smoked back bacon it was unreal. I bet this is even better though!
Proper Grub there, Mate. I think I enjoyed it as much as you, especially the Streaky Bacon. Stack it in a Sandwich, Real Butter on the bread, lashings of Brown Sauce and you're in heaven, food wise.

That back bacon looks stunning, never seen it without fat on from supermarkets! As for rind on bacon that is a supermarket thing of the past, I tend to love it cooked separately as crackling.
