I have commented on your other agar videos. I would like to thank you for your short and concise videos. Your videos seem to be the most helpful for me as a beginner. I have been following your steps. I’m on transfer 1 right now and am doing great! Thank you again for your help!
You're welcome! I'm so glad to help! 🍄♥️😎👍🏼
Yeah, I comment a lot. Agar was the scariest thing I ever did with science and also the most rewarding and - surprisingly - the easiest thing I have accomplished. I recommend that people try it. Expect failure and embrace the success. Agar helped me take 4cc of a spore syringe and create and entire factory. I still have 6cc of that original syringe left. I do NOT have a flow hood. I have a TINY bathroom and an ozone/HEPA filter I run. Use alcohol and be wise. Common sense almost always rules in mycology.
Awesome! But remember: Common sense, ain't that common! ;)
@@KitchenMycology You have that right, my brother. I hope that you don't mind me commenting on everything I see. I'm kind of an old head with limited experience from the Shroomery.
@@TechGorilla1987 Don't mind at all. 😎👍🏼
@@KitchenMycology Because of you, I have a Ziplock bag of popcorn colonizing. I PCed the popcorn in a used Prego jar with my EZpot clone. This hobby doesn't need to be complicated. I used micropore tape over the opening of the bag like you showed. I'll feel like an ass if that wasn't you.
@@TechGorilla1987 Hahaha! It was me!
Hey, I don't get it, on my agar most of the mycelium is very thin and going to the top like mold but it is definitely mycelium?! Could it be because I did not let the agar dry for two days, like too much humidity?
Very good channel!
It depends on the mushroom strain (some grow more whispy than others), and also, when you start isolating and transferring mycelium, it will grow stronger with each transfer. Which is why you see mine growing very Rizomorphic (like roots). I use those since they show better on video.
As long as they cover the Agar and are clean - no contamination, you're good.
And yes, humidity can complicate things, so it's best to wait for it to clear up before using.
@@KitchenMycology thank you 💪
