Thanks for this video…. My new Element will be here mid week. Tested it and it was indicating bad …. I ordered a new Belt also.. Figured its 11 years old so change it while its apart. Tore it down today and sure enough tbe Element is broken.. Thanks!
Just opened up mine and it was exactly the same issue. The best part was that I paid only 28 bucks for the piece and it took me less than one hour to finish the whole thing. Thank you so much for the video!
You are a life saver!!! I have this cheap samsung dryer and its already burned through 2 heating elements in 2 years. First time i paid $200 plus parts for a professional repair guy to come fix it. The 2nd time i ordered the part on amazon and my brother in law changed it. This time I searched up and found your video and thought I’d give it a try. I ordered the part from Amazon again and followed your video and changed the heating element all by myself!! Although i did cut my wrist on the metal part where the heating element is installed, it wasn’t too bad. I think the hardest part for me was hooking up the belt again. My fingers literally were raw trying to pull the belt back. But other than that, your video made it so easy. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I appreciate you!! 🥹
Wow this was perfect! Straight to the point no bullshit intro and actually teaching it as it's being done..I have 0 knowledge on this and this video just saved me tons of money! I too had a broken coil and replacement is now on the way. $27 from Amazon and only needed a phillip'd drill and a needle-nose! Thanks a lot man!
Great how-to video saved me between $200 & $400 to have a tech come out and replace it when I found the part online for hardly anything. Took about an hour! Thank you

Great instructional video, really saved me. Didn't have to call in a technician, the local parts store wanted $80 for the heating element, bought it online for $18.21. The only thing I didn't understand was how to put the belt back on, but you guys had a different video showing how to do it. Thank you!

This was hands down the best video I’ve ever seen for a DIY dryer troubleshoot and fix. Took me a total of 45 mins fixing the dryer with the exact same problem shown here. Longest time was waiting on the element. Thank you for this video!!!

Thank You!! As a doctor in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, I come home and immediately throw my clothes in the washer and head to the shower. This was the worst time to have my dryer break, and try to find a repairman who could come out! Your video was excellent. I was able to diagnose and repair my dryer- you saved me money and time! Thanks!

This was a spot on help for me this week. Had a bad coil and a bad pully so I ordered parts kit including the coil, tstats, sensors and belt and pully. The worst parts getting the leverage to get the belt back on. Oh that and waiting 23 days for Amazon to ship parts and having to remember how it all came apart! But Thanks to you had it all back together in short order today! Thanks so much!!
My husband and I following these very detailed instructions and managed to repair our dryer in one morning. I can't tell you how helpful this was and how easy it made the repair. Thank you so much for providing such great video!

This process is identical for my Kenmore Front Loading Dryer Model# 402-89032010. The Samsung unit in the video and my Kenmore unit have the example same build and design inside. I was able to replace my heating element by watching this video and saved $$$. Thanks for the excellent video!!!

I know I’m late. However just wanted to say thanks because 7 years later and I had to do this on my own. And with your help I’ve successfully succeeded.
Perfect! Down to the last screw. I spent $16 for coil, $ 11 bucks for OHM meter, a couple hours and thats it. It works perfectly! I am not a DIY type of person... I am a 47 year old mom who works in the medical field! Thank you so much. Very professional.

I'm not a handy person at all, but I followed this video step by step and got the job done... In addition to switching out the heating element, I also had to switch out the thermo fuse... A professional would've overcharged me and a new dryer would've cost a fortune... Thank u very much for this video...

Great video. I used this to fix our Samsung DV 410AEW/XAA electric dryer. I had already ordered the replacement part, which was the entire heating system, thermostat, thermister and heating element.
Thank you for this very helpful video. The only thing I had trouble with was getting the drum belt back on. I used another video to help with the visualization of that. Having the close up video of the heating element was very helpful as well. I was able to do this repair all on my own while my hubby was away on work travel and it only cost me the part and my time. Really appreciate this and I will be sharing your site on social media. Thanks again!

Great video, I learned a lot and followed it. I ran into two other tips. 1) You can actually pull out the whole heating housing without moving the drum. 2) I had to remove the back panel to get the belt back on. It makes that easier so you can see what is happening. Thanks for your help. $23 and I now have a working dryer!!!!

Great video. Followed the steps and found a break in the heating coil just like on the video. Bought the replacement heating element for $18 on Amazon Prime and it works great. The hardest part of the entire repair was aligning every back together because of the flimsy metal. From start to finish, it took me about 2 hours of time, with a hand screw driver, an Ohm meter, and needle nose pliers. I estimate I saved about $300 for a service call.

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I am not the handiest guy in the world, so when my Samsung dryer stopped heating, I assumed a major expense. After calling the appliance repair businesses and getting quotes from $225-$350 to do the repair, I decided to take it on myself. I followed the directions, disassembled the dryer, found that the heating element was broken just as it was in this video, bought the part, continued to follow directions, and hooray - it worked! Back in business thanks to ApplianceVideo.com Feeling confident and ready to take on the next repair that comes at me thanks to you. Keep up the great work!!!!

Great job! Everything was exactly like you showed in the video...clear-cut and spot on...Thanks!! I can't believe how much lint and dust collects inside the machine! I literally filled up my vacuum cleaning it all out while the dryer was apart. ***That's the only thing I would add to this video...take your time and clean the inside and all parts while it's accessible!
Great video ! Saved me hundreds of dollars in repair labor. I followed the video step by step and had the same problem as the drier you repaired. The heating element was broke. I went ahead and replaced the two thermal sensors while I had it apart. I ordered all the parts on Amazon Prime plus 1 days shipping for less than $50!. Thanks again guys....

I really appreciate the concise yet complete instruction. I opted to replace the thermal fuse, thermostat, and drive belt while I was in there. I was glad I did the belt, my old one was in pretty tough shape and it only cost ten bucks. Hopefully the warhorse has another 9 years left in it. Thanks Matt.
Thank you! Plain and simple instructions. Ordered the part on eBay for 40$ CAN. Free shipping. With absolutely no experience in fixing washers/dryers, the whole process took me 2.5 hours from start to finish. Agreeed, there is surely a better way to design this thing so we can easely access the heating coil. Taking the whole thing apart doesn't make any sense. But it worked. And my old coil snapped on the bottom side, as you pointed out. Was releaved to find it broken with this quick tip, upon removal, before tampering with the thermal fuse as next troubleshooting. I also took the time to lube the wheels as the back ones were making noise. My dryer is now good as a new.

I really appreciate this video!! I was able to order the parts and watch step by step how to fix my dryer. i was concerned that I wasn't going to be able to put the belt back on the pulley but I did it with success!! I would recommend that if you could show more detail in the video how the belt goes back on, that would be even more appreciated. I did have to watch another RUclips video so I knew exactly what i was doing. You are my hero and saved me tons of money!! Thank you!!

Great video, many thanks! I replaced the heating element in my dryer and you lead me correctly through the process. Some other vids suggest the drum doesn't have to come but they must have a different model. The drum in this one (and mine!) does indeed have to come out to access the heater box and this video was incredibly helpful.

Thank you RUclips for showing me how to do this! Could not get anyone to come over and fix my dryer, not even the so-called emergency 911 service advertised in my area. Fixed it myself for $25 total cost, when I would have gladly paid $200+ to get it fixed right away.

Going to try my hand at doing this on our Samsung dryer tomorrow. Heating element came in today. Thank you for the awesome tutorial...your 20 min video probably translates into about 60 min for me as a first timer, so I hope I get it right. Wish me luck!

Thank you -- this video was straight to the point. Only thing, I wish I could have seen the re-assembly of the pulley and the knowledge that a spring might pop out -- other than that, it all worked great! Thank you!
wanna say thank you for this video..i saved lots of money..my heating element broke in my dryer same as one in this video and learned how to replace myself..awesome

I wanted to thank you for taking the time to make this video. The step by step made it very easy to follow and the tech used verbiage that was easy to understand. I found my parts locally and although I was pretty sure it was the heat element after running the Ohm test, I opened the element cover up to verify. The coil on my element was broken in almost the exact same place as the one in the video. I got a chuckle out of that. I did check the Ohm values on both fuses but to make sure I wasn't dealing with a compound failure, I took them in for testing when I went to get the element. The local shop had the element in stock. Fuses were good. I picked up new vent tube parts and still got out of there for under $100. Way better than having to pay a repair person or get a new dryer. That's for sure! Thanks again!

Thank you for this thoroughly explained tutorial. I have this SAME Exact dryer and this video saved by butt and my wallet twice in 2 years .. this is soooo much better than dropping 700 on a new dryer. One thing I will suggest is for people to take a blower and stick it in your wall tubing/vent and blow all of that mess out of there. If you don't you may have to replace Your heating element and thermostat etc too frequently. Clogged vents can cause these parts to go bad more quickly. I learned that the hard way.. each time mine went bad my vents also had a lot of clogging

Thanks for the video. I've used it three times thanks to my Samsung dryer constantly blowing the heating element. As a side note, replacement element can be bought on Amazon for less than $20. Beats paying $70 from an appliance repair store.

Thanks for demonstrating how to disassemble and reassemble this dryer. Even though the disassembly looks complicated...it's actually quite easy. My daughter-in-law recently disassembled their relatively new (2 year old) dryer to replace a worn idler pulley and drum belt. Just FYI...the idler wheel's sleeve bearing was worn conically...wider at one end than the other and screeching...after only 2 years of use. I looked at it and it was belt grooved and useless. Upside...the part was relatively inexpensive and with videos like this one...that was the total cost. Dryer is operational and quieter than ever. One other note: You may not have noticed, but the drill he used was set to it's lowest torque setting...1...so that he doesn't over torque his screws and strip them out. You will want to do this too.

I have a Samsung dryer not heating , the element is good….the red wire has 110 volts the blue wire has nothing…should it be 110 also?……there are only two wires going to the element…..why am I not getting any voltage on the blue wire, I’m assuming I’m supposed to?..///I’m checking with the red and blue wire removed from the element terminals…..
Best video EVER! Lucky I have the exact same dryer and every instruction was SPOT ON! Didn't want to take the dryer this far apart, but after vacuuming the inside I was glad I did it. Now can you do one for a power steering pump on a 1999 Pathfinder?

hooray!, you saved the day.My dryer has been broke for about a week, we have a second dryer. I have a stacked set, I took the top off, controls, then front. I didn't take out the drum and such as my units are stacked so the heating element was right high up. If you notice in the vid there is a screw toward the front of the heater housing, take this screw out plus the two screws holding the lower bracket in, slide the whole heater assembly out the front without taking the drum and front inner assembly out, much faster.

Great video! Saved me a huge amount of time trying to figure this out myself, not to mention a service call verses doing it myself. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise!

Thank you very much for the detailed video. My situation resulted in a damaged heating coil but not initially. I had heat but not very efficient dryer results plus the burning smell. Discovery found the vent hose clogged and half partly filled with water due to the trapped moisture not escaping. Piping to the outside vent was also partially clogged and I used the drill driven pipe cleaner from home depot and it worked like a charm. Once the piping was cleaned out, I re-tried the dryer and no heat!! So then your video helped me discover the broken coil (probably an old heating coil about to fail and all the movement finally helped it break). After the coil replacement and some really good cleaning of the inside of the dryer, it's like new!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Excellent video. Hi resolution and zoomed-in at appropriate times. Well done. Followed your procedure exactly and this was a very simple repair (very well designed product for repairs Samsung). Amazon Primed the exact replacement part, and back up in running in a couple days. Less than 1 hour to complete the actual work, even while drinkin brews at the same time. Saved cash, impressed the wife. Thanks dude!

Great job, and I really appreciate the editing... just like the cooking show "You Gotta Eat Here" with the fast cuts to save time. Other posters take note: This is how it's done. All the screws went right back to where they came from!

As a repairman myself, use google - appliance repair . Then check the surrounding cities. Also ask at lowes and menards to see who they have under contract.

Thank you for the helpful video. My 5-yr old Samsung dryer is not heating, and only a month ago the matching Samsung washer needed a $400 repair. My Kenmore dryer went 14 years without a repair; the matching washer needed a computer board but at least I could diagnose and replace it myself. (May have failed due to power surge). Many problems are due to changes to meet EPA-mandated water and energy saving requirements. Any manufacturer's product can fail, but when both machines need repairs so soon, they're on my blacklist.

Really good video. I appreciate the tip about checking the housing continuity for an accidental short (12:20) before buttoning it back up. I'm thinking of running a two conductor wire to a connector to the top... or drill a hole in the bottom-side of the cabinet and flush mounting a connector... so I can check continuity by just sliding the dryer lid a few inches back. It pisses me off that the dryer is designed for obsolescence and not for maintenance. No-Pro tip: After playing washer-dryer games for 40 years, I learned to BUY WHITE and BASIC, so if one or the other conks out, you just replace the one. Appliances are commodities and don't last like they used to, and that's why there's only a handful of appliance manufacturers left in the industry. No-Pro tip 2: For those of us who don't do this kind of thing often, get a compartment organizer (THD, HF, Lowes, Ace, TV) to store screws and small parts in order they are removed... maybe number them (and connectors) as well with masking tape and a sharpie, so you know which goes back where... and more importantly don't end up with 'extra' parts at the end ;-).
When I replaced a belt a few years back, I would hand-start screws back in their appropriate holes as I removed pieces. That way I had no confusion about what screws went where on reassembly.
Thanks, I saved $300, for service call and parts. I replaced the heating coil for $60+tax. I had no resistance across the terminals so I followed your direction for removal and replacement. Only critique would be to show how the belt goes back on. Thanks again.

Very helpful to see the dis-assembly process. This saved a bit of aggravation for me not having to struggle with anything . One suggestion though: Instead of taking the heater assembly apart in place, it is easier to remove the single screw at the front of the assembly, then pull the entire heater assembly out intact. Once removed, it is far more comfortable to sit the heater unit on one's lap or counter-top to test and then repair as necessary.

Great video. Only one thing I would suggest doing differently (from being formerly in the electrical contacts, etc. manufacturing industry): instead of breaking the heater contacts to remove them from the insulator (and potentially damaging it) try just straightening out the lock tab with the pliers. Worked for me fairly easily.

I can't say *thank you* enough! Just ordered the parts, great timing with everything, but boy this looks to be a lot of "fun." Since it seems like a common problem you'd think it would be on the top than the .. lets disassemble 90% of the dryer .. bottom.

Really well done video. Good video, sound, clear, concise and to the point. You have done a great job of making the repair the star as opposed to the technician which is rare for DIY videos.

I changed mine out yesterday for the first time, thanks. However, I went a few steps further by removing the drum, thus giving me direct access to vacuum out all of the lint that built up inside my dryer.

Hi, great video. Thanks. Thought I might add (apart from stay away from Samsung products), is a fix I found on my Dv655jw dryer. Turned out to be a relay on the electronic board. There are 2 of these relays. One acts as a main for function and the faulty one was for heating element. I only discovered this by bridging it out (very dangerous if you don't know what your doing, so take heed). I had to import the relay from China (250ac Volt / 24dcv switching. NZ standard voltage). Relay cost was about $10 NZD for 4 of these and a bit of soldering by me. Wasn't too difficult to do. I replaced the other one as well while I was at it. A relatively cheap fix. Now just waiting for the next problem to come along! Hoping this might be helpful to some :)

Hello..I am one who is very appreciated your video exists..you saved me hundreds and several days of waiting.. thanks for being here to help me….
Thank you -was quoted $650 to fix my dryer-this video was walked me through the process -
You are a life saver!!!

Thank you!

Googled a Samsung belt diagram and it was smooth sailing after that. Great video it worked for me.

Fixing my parents dryer while they’re on vacation because of you. Thanks a million dude

Thank you -- this video was straight to the point. Only thing, I wish I could have seen the re-assembly of the pulley and the knowledge that a spring might pop out -- other than that, it all worked great! Thank you!

Perfect video - an hour's work with this as my guide saved me $350... very nice.

Another satisfied viewer. Thank you for this. Diagnosed and repaired because of this video. Thank you!
Exact same issue. Instructions and descriptions were dead nuts on. Thank you
Thank you for this thoroughly explained tutorial.

Element and Belt came today. Installed and running! Thank you big time!

Followed your every step and it was a piece for cake. Thank you.

Got mine running as I took apart, tested, cleaned and reassembled. Do not know what I did to fix but it is working. Put new belt and idler pulley on.

Followed instructions and everything went as planned. Thanks!

Just ordered the parts, great timing with everything, but boy this looks to be a lot of "fun." Since it seems like a common problem you'd think it would be on the top than the .. lets disassemble 90% of the dryer .. bottom.

@@Appliancevideo .. I already posted your RUclips channel on Nextdoor. Good luck with everything! 😎👍
Great step by step video. You saved me lots of money!
Really well done video. Good video, sound, clear, concise and to the point. You have done a great job of making the repair the star as opposed to the technician which is rare for DIY videos.

Thanks for the very clear and complete instructions. It was exactly what I needed. Trickiest part was getting the belt on and off and around the tensioner, but worked out OK.

I changed mine out yesterday for the first time, thanks. However, I went a few steps further by removing the drum, thus giving me direct access to vacuum out all of the lint that built up inside my dryer.
Thank you so much! I followed your video to the letter and my dryer is working again!!!
