Perfect RUclips video. No BS, straight to it. No life story on how his grandfather used to dry clothes by running around the yard. PERFECT HOW TO VIDEO
This has to be one of the best dryer DIY fix instructions that I have seen compare to the others that are long winded and full of bells and whistles of intro and useless background music. Thanks!
I am a single mom and I could not afford for my dryer to stop heating. I ordered the part, followed your video step by step, and my dryer heats again. Not only do I feel accomplished, but I am so grateful for this video and the fact you saved me a few hundred bucks. Thank you so much! It was my heating coil as well!
This video was great! Lots of friends who are my mechanically minded than myself said it wasn't worth fixing the dryer. We replaced the heating element and the PCB for different issues and now dryer runs like new. Thanks!
This video was fantastic - straightforward and easy to follow. I have the same model dryer and replacing the element solved my problem. I'll confirm that the screws on the back of the stand are difficult to get at, but with some patience you can get them unscrewed and screwed back in. I would say that if you have a short screwdriver, it might help because if the screwdriver is too tall, you can't get it underneath the element. I'll also add that after removing the screw on the front holding the element to the stand, the element wouldn't pop out. This is because I found an additional screw holding it to the stand. It was behind the part of the element housing that sticks up in the front, slightly off to the right. If it doesn't pop out, *carefully* (so you don't poke yourself with the screw) feel underneath the right side of the stand and you'll feel the bottom of the screw. Once I removed that screw, it came right out. Like the screws at the back of the stand, it required finding it and unscrewing/screwing by feel.
This worked perfectly for my DV393ETPAWR/A1 Samsung Dryer. I googled the model number with the words heating element and found the part that fits my model dryer on Amazon for $70. It was easier to replace because the new part came with it's own cables already plugged in. I only needed to attach the first and last cable to the dryer. Also, my stand did not have the two screws behind it. They were two fins lodged into slots on the base. Thank you! You saved me $600 dollars!
I watched a number of videos and this on was the best. My system was stacked so my experience best matched this video. I can confirm that the heating element can be replaced without removing the drum. A couple things that weren't covered on the video. The metal inside is very sharp. Care or gloves must be used to prevent cuts to the hands. And the metal on the front of the washer is sharp so placing a towel over the opening will protect your forearms. The tab in the back of the heater does not go into a slot- it simply goes to the back of the opening in the back wall off the dryer and behind the lip. When trying to work the new unit into place , take care to not use the sensors on the left side to leverage the unit into place. There are two screw tabs on the unit that are the best to use to force the unit into place.
Your video saved me about $200! I had gone through a few other troubleshooting steps prior to checking the heating element and was “glad” to find that it was indeed broken. $47 for the parts on Amazon and two hours of my time (90 minutes on the front end, and 30 on the reassembly end), and were back up and running (drying)! The service call here in metro Atlanta would have been $149-$179 plus $185 in parts! Many thanks! This may be this first time I’ve ever heard my wife say “YAY, now I can do wash!” 😂
Great video! Worked like a charm! I was able to quickly replace the unit thanks to your easy-to-follow instructions and video. And being able to replace it from the front meant I didn't have to unstack the dryer from our ridiculously tight-fitting laundry room. Thank you! And sending prayers to y'all during your recovery from all the flooding.
I fixed my dryer tonight for part cost when the repair place quoted me over $400! It wasn't quite a smooth going as your video, there were some plastic clips behind the control panel that didn't want to let go and the top was really hard to push back. Also had to open it up again after door error came on but discovered that I forgot to connect one wire connection. I'm just a wee little lady but I did it and now have a working dryer again thanks to you!! Sending some thank$ your way.
Hey man! Wanted to let you know that this totally worked. I’m so happy to have it fixed. I’ve been diy-ing/remodeling my house for a couple years now and just finished the laundry portion of the house. I installed the machines that I purchased over a year ago, and was so excited to finally start using them. Did a couple loads and the dryer stopped heating. So stumped and disappointed. Then I found your video and thought I’d give it a try. Totally worked. Thank you again 👍🏼
Excellent video! Nice simple explanation. I followed along and changed out my element and it now runs perfectly again. I estimate that I saved about $200 on labor and probably about $50 on the heating element by ordering it from Amazon and not paying a repairman/woman for the part.
I was able to use these instructions to replace the heating element in my DV448AEP/XAC (similar machine, but slightly different location of wires and screws). Clothes now dry properly, and this saved me a ton of money calling in someone to do it for me. Thanks for the instructions!
Great detailed video and a simple DIY. Fixed my problem at a fraction of cost of calling repair person. The part i received from amazon did not fit as snug as it needed to. was able to bend the metal so that it could slide into the back better- however there is a little bit of a gap. Thanks again for sharing!
So thankful for your video. I was successful in fixing my dryer. I will say it was a bit of a struggle getting the new unit screwed back in. Sooo excited to have saved myself $$$ by doing it myself .
Thank you ! Just watched your video, bought the piece from a local shop and changed it. You mentioned how hard it was to reach the screws in the back of the stand, but it is so MUCH harder to screw them back in, especially when the stand doesn’t align perfectly because the piece is brand new and won’t sit where the old one was. Merci encore, d’un fan du Québec !
Well done, quick, not too difficult and saves a LOT of money. I've done that repair myself twice over the years and I always end up dropping 1 of the screws inside while putting it back together and have to reverse gears and partially disassemble the dryer, again, to retrieve it. LOL.
From one RUclipsr to another, thank you! This video saved me probably hundreds in repair labor. Didn't take much longer than double the length of this video either. I bought the part through your link so hopefully Amazon shares that with you. Much love!
Thanks! This video helped me replace mine. I had alot of trouble getting the new one back into its proper place though. I ended up opening the dryer from the back as well through the area with the exhaust pipe, was much easier for me to reach my hands in there and move the heating assembly back into its place and replace the two furthest screws for the stand from that side.
Seth, I don't normally comment on RUclips videos but I have to thank you for publishing this video. My dryer's heating element went out last Sunday. Luckily it was on our last load of laundry so we didn't have to spend too many quarters at the laundromat. While my wife and I sat in the laundromat waiting for said load of laundry to dry, I was researching how to replace the heating element to see if it's something I could do myself, quickly and easily. You're video was the first one I found and it was a great help! I have to thank you for making it short and succinct. AND, an even bigger thanks for including the link to the replacement part. I was dreading having to find the right one. I ordered it while still at the laundromat. It arrived that following Wednesday and I got this repair done in about an hour (the majority of that time was spent cleaning out the lint from inside the dryer). You saved me, only God knows, so much time trying to figure this out myself and I've very grateful to you for that. So, thank you very much! God Bless!
Thank you for the kind feedback. I'm very happy to hear the video was helpful in getting your repair done. I contacted my local repair man and he quoted $200 plus parts to fix my dryer. For 1 hour of time, this DIY is worth saving that money.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the video! Mine went down and I was looking at a steep repair bill having someone else fix it. I found A replacement part at a good price and I was in a max of 1.25 beers before she was all said and done! Again thanks a bunch!
I did everything I mentioned, and now my dryer works fine. FYI, you really don’t need to disconnect the control panel connector. And there is a connector to the open door switch that if disconnected, helps with access.
Same deal, Samsung dryer stopped heating. Tomorrow I’m doing this repair. I’m glad I found your video I thought I was gonna have to unstack the dryer. Phew.
I ordered the parts before i saw the video and received the individual parts. I replaced everything just to be sure. The back screws are a pain and i did not have a short enough screwdriver. I took off the front screws and slowly bent the tray forward until i could slide out the element. Replaced parts and put it back in.
I so very much appreciate you and this video. Mine stopped working and I bought the part, which only took one day to get here. Went step by step using your video and did it all by myself. I mean, there was some tight spaces in there but I did it!! Thank you!!
Have I mentioned how much this single mom loves RUclips tutorials? Only every single time I use one to save my butt. Thank you so much, I went all summer without a dryer but I figured I would save on electricity by hanging things out on the line but winter is now coming and it's very cold and the only thing my clothes are going to do outside on the line, is freeze. I went to Lincoln and bought your part, they sent me to an upgraded part but it worked just fine. The only problem I had, was in the beginning of the video my top would not slide backwards. Apparently mine has clips and it pops straight up. I should have made a video. It would have been very comical, me trying to slide that top off. I also didn't have mine up in the are and I had a very hard time sliding the part into place. So I pulled it farther away from the wall and leaned it backwards and I had it where it needed to be in no time, in fact it was so easy I wasted 15 minutes of struggling while I was laying on the floor. Thank you, thank you, thank you, so much for this tutorial.
Mine works like a charm. Great instructions. Only thing I would add. On the reinstall put the heater cage in first. Then mount the stand. The ever so slightly bigger screws go on the back side. The ever so thinner then go on the front. After the stand is mounted. It will take some work to fit the cage into the back. It will eventually fit int!o the slot on the stand. This is the hardest part of the entire reassembly. But great video. Thank you!

Dammit, I just replaced my dryer last week because the element went bad and couldn’t find any info on how to repair it, extremely helpful video regardless
You didn't consider a middle ground approach, like calling an appliance service company? It would probably have cost $300 rather than $100 for the part, but that's still less than a new dryer ($800-$1500). P.S. Dryer technology hasn't changed in the last 50 years, so your new one may have cute beeps and WiFi, but the motor, belt, element and thermostat is still the same as the one you disposed.
@@LandtoHouse the only problem is I cut my wrist trying to take out those back screws. Nearly knicked a vein. I filed down the sharp edges before I put it back in.
Thank You So Much!!! You saved me a lot of $$$. The part I ordered from Amazon (linked in the video description) did not quite fit so I took the filament out and repacked it in the old heater assembly which was a little more work but not much.

Nice work, Seth. You saved time and money by repairing your dryer yourself. I'm a new subscriber and am finding your videos fascinating, especially those featuring the ram pump.
Nicely done. Fix-it yourself is a skill that is disappearing and well worth learning, thank you for sharing this. Save that nichrome wire from the heating element, you can use it to make a hot-wire cutter for foam-board & Styrofoam to custom cut odd shapes when insulating the tiny house or the micro-hydro, or make an ABS black pipe warmer to make it easier to insert/remove the barbed fittings that's less risky than a blow-torch, a heating bed for sheet plastic if you ever want to make a simple vacuuformer, or even just hang on to it to snip as-needed lengths to use for twist ties that can survive high temperature conditions like your "will it burn" videos, or making a slow cook accessory for your outdoor gas grill. BTW, If you are doing an appliance repair video, does that mean I have to do a ram-pump video? LOL
This video was super helpful and I was able to replace the heating element. However, when I started running the dryer the right side of the dryer (near where the heating element is located) felt pretty warm. I am not sure if this is normal or if there could be a problem. Any thoughts?
I guess what you could do is buy just the coil and replace the broken coil and then you would have a spare. But then you would have junk laying around the house... 😆 Plus what if you put it back together and one of the other sensors weren't working... 🤔 Never mind 🤣 Anyway thanks for a very thorough & concise illustration video.
Here is the dryer element I used.

Nice - encouraging to check myself the next broken device :) I did similar fix on my dishwasher some time ago :)
There are still a few appliances we homeowners can fix.
I have the same one, is there any reason why I have to replace it almost every 6 months? It's my 3rd time. Thank you for the video
LOL
excellent video, very helpful. I used your link for the part, hopefully you get a few bucks out of it :D
Thank you. Its a fun project and can save you a lot on service calls. Yes like $0.50 because Amazon is stingy.
Perfect. Thank you.
Very helpful, thanks.
video is awesome wires on heating unit are not the same. should i replace wire same has my old one.
i just used to either repair or restring it. after 35 yearsof doing that i dont miss it.. nor does my back lol. samsung can sing all he wants.. lol
Thanks it worked!
Very good. It's not too bad for a diy project.
Great video, thanks a lot!!
Thanks man✊️
Thank you!!!
Thank u
Thanks!
Happy to help.
Plus what if you put it back together and one of the other sensors weren't working... 🤔 Never mind 🤣
Anyway thanks for a very thorough & concise illustration video.
Great tutorial. About how old is your Samsung dryer?
This one is around 5 years old.
I have a dryer from 1950s it's never been touched and it works perfect
The old machines did not have "pre determined obsolescence "
I have a dve45t6000w would this same heating element work? Or should I find one with the exact model number?
Could you send this video to my corporate workplace. They won’t let me fix the dryer in my own. Hehe. No dry towels at a grooming salon is a bad day.
That is super sad! This type fix is not that hard.
