Aggelos: Nintendo Switch Game Review

- Aggelos "Angelic" is certainly a game worth having, and for the recent deep sale of $2.99, there is no question that this Indie Metroidvania is worth the price. But, it is much more than that. Aggelos is an incredibly solid title. Championing a story straight out of the SNES era, it is your duty to unite the four elements and stave off the evil that threatens the kingdom. Solid yet simple platforming, a great adventure feel, and a healthy dose of RPG; there is a lot more than the art and soundtrack make Aggelos an unforgettable experience.
I played and finished this game... It surprised me and I thought it was GREAT!

This game is excellent! Played it some time ago and had a blast with it. It's a real homage to the Wonder Boy series and fans won't be disappointed.

Whoa, those room designs at 4:00, 4:25, 4:35 and 6:25 REALLY remind me of "Wizards & Warriors III: Kuros... Visions of Power" on the NES. One of my favorites from back in the day. Had to buy this one. Thanks for the great in-depth review, as always!

That's a great review for a great game, definitely deserving of the spotlight as it's a highlight of the Switch library. Definitely worth it even at full price.
Please review Baldo when it comes out, it definitely fits the budget gamer theme as it will cost $24,99 for a game that's around 50 hours and very high quality. It needs all the exposition it can get, as it's a pretty small studio (just 2 guys + composer)
I would love to, but "Budget" is more like $5. Haha!
That is a lot of content for the price though.

@@BudgetGamerChannel Happened by chance at a pawn shop. Thought it was some knock off game because they actually had several copies and I thought the euro rating was kinda weird. Happy surprise indeed when I found out what it was! Totally worth a full NA retail release imo
The lack of a map, makes you learn the world and really feel ike you are moving thorugh a real w world.
It's true. Normally I rely on the map a lot, but in this game, I had to rely on myself. It was a great experience.

Very well said! I played Aggelos last year and there was something about the design I couldn't quite put my finger on, but it kept me hooked and constantly playing. And I played on Hard my first time! Nearly none of the frustration I have with most Metroidvanias/platventures was present here.

This game is SO GOOD. My favorite indie game in a LONG TIME. I beat it, lve it, and evberybnight back home from work i was excited to jump right back into it. You should not have said hwat aggelos means, that isa story spoiler! The upgrades are so amazing, and the controls SO GOOD, I have been yelling all over the place to anyone that weill listen to play it. I explored it a ton and it took me I think 12 hours, and I only missed 1 final heart upgrade and one other magicv upgrade.

It's not really a map. it is more of a, "What is the title of the area I am in" notification.
Id recommend wonder boy/monster boy remakes over this.

Those goddamn Woodpecker Trials. I played this game a few years back and I hate it with every fiber of my being. I 100%'d it but holy hell does it suck.

@@BudgetGamerChannel I was hyped for it for awhile and I do agree that the visuals are nice, but this entire game felt like a chore to me. The last boss being an exception because I did genuinely enjoy that fight. Otherwise yeah, I loathed this game and promptly deleted it upon completion.

@@casper3237 I have no intention of deterring anyone else from trying out a game. I'm only saying that I myself didn't enjoy it. I live for challenging games but this one borders on unfair at certain points and brings the adventure to a screeching halt.
As far as counterpoints I'm not sure I provided any. BGC is the go to guy for that kind of thoughtful review. I'm just some scrub that likes to bitch. 😆

I tried to like it but the backtracking is HORRENDOUS. If you die on a boss and need a herb, You have to backtrack all the way back to get one and then go back to the boss. Great review. But i don’t recommend it as the game doesn’t respect your time and has the worst and most useless map I’ve seen in awhile. I wanted to love it but couldn’t.
Backtracking is part of the experience since you should train to get hit less.

i loved this game til it all of a sudden get's ridiculously hard. i went from playing for 5 hours to dying dying dying.
This game categories as Action RPG and inspire by Wonder boy. Not Metroidvania
