    47F for a budget, the CX-12 for that silky smooth, bright vintage sound 🤩 good stuff Edward!

    Great comparison/test/demo--thanks!! All three sound great, but that CX12 is so big and open sounding--wow!

    I like your voice better with the FET 47. I have a voice similar to yours and I used a C800G for 10 years. One day I tried a cheap FET (MXL V89) and it blew the Sony out of the park!!!! I might try the WA now ;) Thanks for the video.

    This is one of the best vocal videos I've seen on RUclips when it comes to vocal quality sonics. How can I contact you to inquire about the vocal processing you did here? I will gladly pay to know what you used plugin wise on your vocal bus!

    C12 hands down one of the golden vintage replicas. I own the 251 and it is my monster on vocals.

    The 47F is the clear winner as it set your voice in the most proper position within the mix. All in all, that’s just my ears.

    It's a long shot on you responding but I have a question I have an avantone bla cv12 doesn't sound as good as this one but I'm looking at the wa 8000 ,wa 47 and the manley ref c ... what would u recommend as an upgrade from cv 12?

    the sibilance on WA-47F is noticeable in decent headphones, but I feel like it would be completely manageable with a lil eq and proper attack and release settings on pre/comp and for the price paired with not having to run outboard tube power supply I think I just made my decision. Character otherwise was indistinguishable past sibilance at beginning and ending of phrases but hey, maybe RUclips's compression itself might be imparting color and making them sound similar to my ears.
    I don't blame anyone grabbing a vacuum tube, but what I learned here is: WA-47F

    The WA-CX12 is not my cup of tea. I still prefer much more the WA-47 and the WA-251. The WA-47F (in my opinion) is if you need some more top end compared to the WA-47. What do you think?

    • @hi1mham
      @hi1mham Год назад

      I think the WA-47F is just faster because of the FET

    it’s has high self noise but high spl 149 max decibel also made up for it it’s classic capsule so they tend to have a little more high self noise.

    hey bro, for u, which is the best mic for male rap vocal?

  • @oldtimer666
    @oldtimer666 7 месяцев назад

    Im looking to buy a mic which doesn’t have exaggerated highs. Previously i owned a akg c414 xlii which made my voice worse and everyone told me to get a new mic. Im looking to upgrade from a rode nt1a but looking for similar characters with a upgraded version.

    • @Cornmolio
      @Cornmolio 2 года назад

      I just bought two Se2200’s and they are really great. If you’re on a budget, you can find them new for under $200. But if money is not an issue, the CX12 is in a whole different league. Definitely CX12 if you can afford it. In my case, I just needed a lot of microphones. But I plan on adding a CX12 to the mix soon.

    The 32dBA self noise on the WA-CX12 will kill the interests for most users

      @v3zMedia 2 года назад

      @@rylandweet7750 yeah Zzounds has it listed as 32 but Sweetwater says 22dBA. That's too noisy for sure. I'd rather buy the OC18/OC818 or the WA8000 for around that price.

    • @rylandweet7750
      @rylandweet7750 2 года назад

      @@v3zMedia I totally agree! For the money I’d buy a avantone and get the mods done if I wanted that c12 sound , which I do like, but in this video I found the wa47 to sound actually better then the cx12 in general, the cx12 is to thin

    • @rylandweet7750
      @rylandweet7750 2 года назад

      @@v3zMedia I been looking at the oc18 actually, I prefer how it sounds on vocals over the oc818, just the oc18 has this sort of “dry” sound with sibilance sort of like jz mics have but not as much, not sure if I like it though, been thinking a lot about Mojave 300, I do like the Mojave 1000 a lot of my vocals but it’s so expensive!

    WA-47 for me. The F sounded a little more brittle, not as full bodied to me.

    • @hi1mham
      @hi1mham Год назад

      could be wrong, but I think the "brittleness" is the speed/attack of the FET vs the tube though, realistically for me outside of beginning/ending of phrases the WA-47F and WA-47 are similar enough that taking a bit of air off the top of the F and it would be indistinguishable. If I don't want the F to be sibilant and crispy in/out I can do that with my comp with attack/release, I feel like I actually have more options here with the F because If I want a rap vocal that is sharp/fast and sibilant and up front I have that with the F, but if I want to smooth it out for singer/songwriter I have that too. The body in the middle of phrases to me was surprisingly similar, but the F sounded like a FET.

    Your damaging your tube mics by having the tube under the capsule. The heat from the tube rises. Turn those tube mics upside-down.
