    If you roll around in your sleep a lot look for a sleeping bag that has an insert on the bottom for a pad. Along with being warmer it’s also quieter. I use Big Agnes bags and pads that has this system and it helps immensely with being comfortable when camping. Come morning you’ll feel more rested.

    Giant loop makes a clip that goes over exhaust to keep your bags away from the heat

    Great video. Looking forward to seeing those bags on your Scram. My go to sleeping gear and shelter are a sleeping quilt (2/3 of a sleeping bag) and hammock. Depending on weather, I will bring a rain fly and/or under quilt. I live in the southeastern US (Tennessee) so there are no shortage of trees. Packs incredibly small. My hammock is an REI model that they don't make any longer. It has suspension in both ends so you sleep a bit flatter than you do in a simple hammock. If I was traveling to areas where trees aren't as plentiful, I still have my ol' backpacking tent but would add a pad for comfort and insulation when sleeping on the ground. On the bike, I've come to love my Giant Loop Great Basin.

      Thanks! I’ll have a look into those - I like the idea of hammocks being so light and pack down small but I did have a rough sleep in Cambodia in a hammock…but that was a really cheap setup that we got through a tour company so I think it was a bit rough because of that!

    My biggest tip for motorcycle camping for those who ride on technical trails is to look into backpacking gear and NOT normal camping gear. Backpacking gear is much smaller and lighter due to backpacking consisting of hiking with only a backpack.

    • @lifeofascrambler
      @lifeofascrambler  Год назад

      Yeah that’s true, backpacking gear is generally pretty light and small, generally it can be a bit more expensive though so I did want to give people an option that was economical!

    Great vid and interesting about your bags burning on the pipes. I've wrapped my stock cans in heat wrap which seems to be working well and doesn't look as rude as you might think (subjective bias might be in play here). Had a nylon molle bag resting on them for a 4 day trip and no melting or incendiary misadventures.
    Also got the Unit Garage rear rack which I swap for the original grab rail when heading out for camping trips. Takes about 10 mins to swap. Have to admit it's a bit long though, I like your bag on bag set up better I just need to carry spare gas sometimes so the extra real estate is handy. And beer.
    There are actually a few places on the scrambler you can store stuff so it's not hard to pack for extended trips even with original exhaust system.
    Cheers for your continued vids on the Scrambler too and bike stuff in general. Always learn something from them and from others in the comments section too. Straps and spokes...a constant source of paranoia.

      Haha unfortunately I wasn’t really focused on filming the bike on fire…I had to react pretty quickly to get the flaming bag off the bike!

      @@lifeofascrambler haha yeah I suppose, but think of the YT views! Haha. Still would like to know what happened. Was it a canvas bag resting on the exhaust for a long period of time that caused it?

    Great video 📹 👍....on a slightly different note, have you done the valves on your scrambler...? When I've asked about it in the dealers it seems to be a horrendously expensive procedure!! Hopefully it's possible to do it yourself..., cheers, Steve

      Haha no it was a country road cotton bag, the Osah bags are awesome (and don’t catch fire)
