Its been over a year since ive been online and seen your videos last video i watched your daughter was leaving for boot camp hope all is well with you and family i do agree extra protection wouldn't hurt ...you need a good guard dog Doberman or Shepard i recommend well gotta go until next time happy camping
Hi Luke, can you share which piece of music is it @22:35? Sound so nice and relaxing. Really enjoy your content and especially those outdoor adventures. Especially on some of those camera angles where you walk by the camera and so on. To the viewers it is a nice shot, but how many take the time to think about the setup and the test of the shot to make it happen. The time involves. That is passion in your art.
As a female who camps alone I cannot stress enough to follow your gut instinct when out in the wild. Always be prepared for anything & be willing to leave your camp for awhile if needed. Have multiple forms of protection on your person. I also take extra gear to look like more people are with me. But following your gut is your best defense imho. I've avoided a few campgrounds due to a bad gut feeling. I've left a few in a hurry as well.
@@CaesarConsuloProVita precisely why I stated to have multiple forms of protection on your person. But yt doesn’t like the term “g u n” so I use other vocabulary for my description. 😜 However following ones gut instinct can avoid the need to pull a side arm.
I know what you're brother, I've been addicted to Heroin for 32 years, I've been trying to get clean for the last 3 years. I've had everything thrown at me - the year before last 2022 my father died, he caught covid, got rid of it in hospital then caught pneumonia. My mum died in my arms last year, ( I've seen a lot of people die in front of me because of drugs). When my mum died though I swear I've never felt physical pain like that. Since my mother died all I've had is hassle from my sister, she's even trying to get an eviction on me because she's all about money and wants to sell our house I've lived in the same house all my life. Onto the positive part though - I've stayed clean and have come to realise that if I can have all of this thrown at me, then I can do anything and am determined to stay clean. God bless mate. ❤️🏴 UK.
I just celebrated 18 years on Mother's Day... Lost my brother 10yrs ago while I was visiting him 😥 The pain does hurt. I hated leaving my mama after my brother died. YOU GOT THIS FRIEND! YOU HAVE TO! 💪❤️
I work at a vet clinic. From what I heard, it sounded like a dog so excited to get out of the truck it was "monkey" whining. It is bizarre sounding, but I hear it often as a groomer.
I like carving too! Or in my neck of the woods it's called "Whittling" I used to sit by the creek on my Dad's 150 acre farm in Northern Michigan and sit on an old stump and just whittle away. One time a little muskrat came down the creek and came out and gathered twigs not two feet away from me, he didn't even see me, it didn't even give me a notice, I was so quiet and blended with the surroundings... a great memory.😊
Thank you for sharing, Luke. I grew up in a world surrounded by that stuff so when I got older and realized how unstable and dangerous those people can be, it definitely started to curdle my blood. The unpredictable nature of junkies is why they're so dangerous. Stay vigilant.
Yeah people are unpredictable these days. If you’re gonna dabble in stuff like that it’s better to just stick with alcohol or weed although both have their consequences as well.
We were in the bottom of a canyon miles to even get down there. At night I woke up feeling like someone was outside the car, looking at us. Jyst a feeling. My boyfriend sensed it too but we thought we were just spooked. Went back to sleep. Morning we were approached by a skinny wirey looking guy who asked for a ride. He looked very scary and my boyfriend ran him off. No matter where remote you are there could be someone around. Remember thst.
In case anyone hasn't let you know, that was an iridescent cloud, it happens when the clouds droplets / ice crystals diffract light in that sort of rainbowy / multicolored way. The version you're seeing here is likely the start of a pileus cloud, often found above tall t-storms or mountaintops (usually the mountain ones are lenticular clouds though). Sorry if this is old news, I know this video is old and there's 5k comments, but I didn't feel like sifting through all of them LOL
My husband and I were married in 1985. Together we have done a lot of backpacking and truck bed camping in off-road remote areas of the USA, since 1984 and especially through the rest of the 80s and 90s. My husband was always packed and was prepared with a weapon to use if necessary. Why? Well we definitely wouldn't need it for the animals - they're afraid of people. They have the fear of man in them. My husband always said, "It's 'man' who is the 'most dangerous creature' out there, because they're unpredictable." You never know what man will do, so we'd always take along a weapon to protect ourselves with. Sad but absolute truth. Check out how many people have been murdered through the many decades while camping... by 'man'. Animals are predictable, but man is not predictable. Stay wise and safe. Thanks for the enjoyable trip. Beautiful country!
When I was a young man, I was hard wired for action. I'll sleep when I'm dead was a common saying of mine. When I got older I learned to stop and smell the roses. Both ways are extremely rewarding, best advice... Do what you feel. Good video. Thank you
LoL... when I was young back in the 60's I was of the same mindset. I was raised in the Jackson Hole valley and never stopped. Summer camping in Yellowstone and building snow caves by the hot springs in winter.
When I was young I was splitting wood for my family and friends, and then later in my 20s I was cutting an splitting my own for my family and my brother in law, but we shared each other's help so it was fun having a friend to do it with, plus work on my own house. Sorry got lost in thought!
I always bring one of my dogs with me when I head out to the woods. Dogs can smell intruders from far away and alert you. Plus it's always nice to have a companion 🤘
Your dog is great in the camp but he also relies on YOU to protect him. I never want to put my husband or my dog in a situation that makes them on alert all the time trying to protect me. They need a good nights sleep too.
You got that right my 100lb Rottweiler can be quite intimidating, plus looking down the barrel of my 12ga works well on unwelcome visitors 2 or 4 legged.🍻
I had a Rottweiler when I was RV'ing for several months. That dog could see, smell and sense things 1,000 times better than I could. So the few times he got excited in the middle of the night. I made sure my personal protection was ready, loaded and in position. I never had to use it, his bark was intimidating enough to scare whatever it was that was out there.
I lived in an area that was terrible with drug related crime. It changed my point of view drastically and made me much more cautious and hyper aware of my surroundings no matter where I am. It’s sad that there isn’t really anywhere that isn’t tainted by the reality of it
Not to mention the mantra of sending those dependent upon drugs to prison instead of rehabilitating them. Drug dealers definitely deserve prison, not so much the people dependent on drugs.
I encountered someone while I was at the Badlands, SD who was likely mentally ill, possibly dangerous and he was armed (I was not)... too long to tell the story in writing, but I managed to talk my way out of what could have been a horrible situation. This was September 2003 on a solo trip... miles from anyone or anywhere. To this day I am certain this guy was capable of some pretty dark things... and I was fortunate to keep calm and collected. I now carry any time I am out in the wild...
I always have a subcompact on me when camping. I carry an AR15 when I go hiking. I feel I'm much less likely to ever have a confrontation with the AR. A concealed pistol isn't much of a deterrent until you pull it out.
I used to go tent camping with my buddies at one of the busier camping areas in Alaska. More than once we had what we called “camp raiders”. Guys who just show up and want to hang out. We were usually a group of 4 or 5 men with guns, so we were usually hospitable toward the visitors (even though, I never really liked it). Usually they just wanted to warm by our fire and talk about camping. Once we had a guy ride in on a dirt bike. The guy pulled out a bag and asked if we wanted to smoke some weed. We didn’t smoke weed so we declined, but one of my friend’s 14 year old sisters was with us so we told him not to even get it out. He didn’t like that, but he obliged. Then one of my buddies was standing next to the lake and this dude walked down next to my friend and pulled out a .22 pistol and started shooting in the water. My heart jumped and I started looking intently at my friend’s jacket looking for dark spots to appear trying to see if he was being shot. I had my hand on my .45 auto. My friend did not get shot so I didn’t draw on the guy, but we immediately told him he had to leave our camp. We told him it was because of his reckless behavior with the pistol. He left without any further issues and he never knew that 2 of us had pistols ready to go on him (plus 2 others with shotguns in the tents). Yeah, sadly, camping can be dangerous in certain areas.
I hate people who do this, usually turn up to try and scrounge beer and they never, ever have social skills to realise everybody is hoping they leave you alone
Even then what nerve of people. I know when I go camping it’s to be alone and if I don’t know who you are you better not just come up on me. I am not a very trusting person.
I carry more weight backpacking than most but my pistol weighs close to 5 lbs loaded with bear rounds. I’m too old to play and too wise not to be prepared.
Those were coyotes yipping, not a woman's voice; they were warning their clan of the intruders (other vehicle you heard) I used to live in an area where there were many coyotes so heard them quite often.
In England we dont use the separate names for like jam, jelly, preserves, we just lump it all under Jam, and when it comes to jelly we just use that name for the wobbly stuff you have at kids parties :)
You need a dog as early warning system. Especially while overnighting.I camped alot alone. One night about 1 am im in lala land and had some guy walk right up to the camper My cattle dog took exception to that and had him running and screaming. Made me mad though coz i spent the next 4 hrs up not able to sleep. I packed up and left at day break.
A college student went to camp alone in the wilderness. I seen the new a few years back. He was a foreign student who love the wilderness in US. Unfortunately he died of natural death. I do not know how long until he was found. Thats the risk when you camp alone.
Having suffered a stroke about 3 yrs. ago , I know just what you mean about feeling " not right " when you are idle. I used to be an avid outdoorsman, but the stroke has left me with little interest in anything Iused to do, mainly due to the loss of the use of my left arm and hand. Left leg affected to a lesser extent. Iwould urge everyone to take good care of your vasculer system.
@Jake Sobotta You can do this!! Brother, I will be praying for you to stop smoking for good, in the name of Jesus!! I'm a lady of my word and God always answers my prayers! God bless you!🤗
I can tell you are a down to earth great guy that just likes to get out of the house and breathe in the fresh air the good lord has given us. I like the way you get your point across and the way to camp. I know you are a smart person and you are right about people on drugs. Be careful and keep on camping brother
Did not sound like human to me too , i love this guy testing out gear etc , but when it comes to real life he gives me the creaps ... he is realy paranoid
As an outdoorsman, your most important virtue is awareness. Never be so focused on what you're doing that you don't notice your surroundings at all times. Predators of all kinds take advantage of your forward facing vision. Your eyes should be constantly panning, constantly surveying your surroundings. This is how people get ambushed and mysteriously disappear. Enjoying yourself in a dangerous area just because it's beautiful is any easy way to never be seen again. Always protect number one .
I totally agree with what you said about not liking sitting still to recuperate. I just had foot surgery. I'm a pretty active 60 year-old woman and I love hiking, and even when home I'm always walking around the house, so just sitting for the last few hours has been torture. Love your channel. Stay safe!
Awesome photography ! The rainbow you saw in the cloud is called a sundog :-) . I worked 39 years as a nurse working 12 hour shifts. I became disabled a year ago after respiratory failure and two blood clots in my left lung. I'm perfectly fine with my slower, laid back pace.More time to spend with our grandson whom we adopted due to the drug use of his birth parents. We see first hand what drugs can do. They chose drugs over a precious child . No more dashing to respond to a code or chasing after the doctors. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
An addict doesn't have a "choice", just so you know. Like cancer or diabetes, it's a disease. It's not your fault, and it's not their fault. May you continue to be blessed🙏
I did the same with my drug addicted daughter. Best thing I've ever done. He has always been a gift. He turns 21 as of today. Good luck with everything.
Agreed about the photography! BTW this wasn't a sundog, a sundog is part of something called a parahelion, where a halo forms around the sun and there's two "false suns" (usually rainbowy) equidistant from each other, which wasn't going on here. This is a stretched out cloud on top of a thunderstorm that's called a pileus or sometimes "cap" cloud, and it's also "iridescent" which means it's diffracting light in that fancy rainbowy way. Sorry for weather nerding out lol
I'm currently 12 days post surgery, had a bi- lateral total knee replacement and it is about to drive me CRAZY being so stationary, binge watching you channel has really helped, THANKS Luke!!!!
@@margarethughes3763 hope all goes well for you sister! I've heard that is the trouble with "social healthcare." Is that true? I had my hip replaced in like a month. And back surgery on a similar timeline. Any surgery or procedure pretty much. Anyway best of luck to you my English friend!
I'm envious of your adventures. I spent 16 years working with the Forest Service with 90% of that time patrolling either the Lincoln Woods Wilderness Area or patrolling the AT both in VT & NH. I also did about 4-5 years more of volunteer work in both doing trail maintenance and trail and camp ground construction as well . Part of that time was spent going all over the US doing wild land firefighting as well . That was an absolutely fantastic job , and believe it or not I actually got paid for doing it !!! I've never had a better job or one I enjoyed more. The law enforcement part I didn't enjoy all that much as there were some tense situations that arose from time to time like busting meth labs and removing squatters from the National Forest . We weren't authorized to carry but being a former military combat vet my forest supervisor kinda turned a blind eye to that sense he knew what threats we may run into on the trail, 2 or 4 legged and neither were uncommon . Bear and Moose and meth labs were the biggest issues though. I'd normally be out on the trail for 2 weeks at a time doing trail and shelter maintenance, building trails , doing wildlife and forest improvement projects and what ever else needed doing. It wasn't uncommon to be pulled off the trail though , to do high angle rescues , search and rescues or causality recoveries as that was a big part of the job too. I was a certified for high angle rescue, was a SOLO First Responder and was close to being a fully certified EMT as well as being on Fire/ rescue in my town for > 37 years , with tons of other related certifications . There is allot of climbing areas here in NH & VT both and incidents were common and there was only a half dozen of us in all of VT & NH that were certified for that job so 2-3 rescues or searches a month were quite common and much much more during the peak hiking and climbing seasons, Winter or Summer. Lots of folks got themselves into situations they weren't necessarily ready for and when the weather went South on some of these razor back ridges above timber line and in back country/ wilderness areas we got lots and lots of time in doing rescues or recoveries . Mount Washington was " No Joke" when it came to rescues, with >100 mph winds and well below 0 degree f wind chills being common, even in Summer. Some of those above timber line , razor back ridge rescues in those conditions were just a bit sketchy to say the least and could be quite a challenge ! I'm an old coot and disabled now from some of my rescue adventures and am no longer able to carry a pack or hike long distances and even going 2-300 yards at a time now can be a challenge at best, but I still have all my memories after years and years spent in the forest and I don't regret one moment of it, other than being all bunged up so I can't hike anymore. That part sucks to be honest . But don't feel bad for me, in my day I've had the opportunity to do 2 end to end hikes on the AT, did the Long Trail several times, the PCT, the Continental Divide Trails and have done every 4k ft and above peak in the US and most all the major trails in Alaska plus a couple others in Canada and even a couple in South America as well , so I've defiantly had my fun. I was know as "Talks With Animals " on the trail with a turtle symbol being my mark . I've been told many rabid hiker aquatnences that some of my shelter tags and the 2 petro-gliffs I've carved on rock faces along the AT are still present on some of these trails and in shelters where I've been at, so look for them in your travels they could pop up most anyplace in the US and Canada . I still get a taste of the good life after retiring though sense I bought a nice large piece of property just below the highest peak in the area here in VT and my homestead is in the middle of the forest right next to 2 incredible brooks running through my land that are filled with Brook Trout with tons of other wildlife all around me . There's nothing but State , Federal and timber company land surrounding me and there's only 4 neighbors on this entire section of road and nothing after that for 6 miles, and that road section is closed 5 months out of the year for snow or mud. This new homestead is like I've never left the forest and I couldn't be happier. Life is good here at the High Mountain Homestead ! Enjoy your travels as I have, you won't regret it.
@@BBQDad463 You Bet I Am , at least as best as I can, thank God for 4 wheeler s and off road motorcycles though ! It keeps me active and in the forest where I want to be.
When I was in the military I had to be go go go and loved it, but after my injuries and time to heal the best I can Ive learned to enjoy sitting down and watching the world hustle and bustle by
SPUDS- Copy last. I’ve been outta the game long long time now. I struggle to hammer in tent pegs above 5000 feet. But, long as I can stay three or more nights I’m good.
Beautiful video. I'm so sorry about the effects of drug abuse on your family. My little brother was drug addicted for quite a long time. I prayed for years for him. He's now off drugs except for weed, he got married and is living a much better life. We're closer now too. God bless!
I’ve been hiking remotely and heard someone deep in the bush screaming and crying, it was absolutely terrifying. It turned out someone was having a mental meltdown and they went into the wilderness to scream it out for therapy…..btw this sounds like an over exited or panicked dog yelping, many huskies make that sound.
Forgot just how beautiful the photography is! I too can't believe how in tune I am with stepping into Autumn! Glad you and family are in tune with same! Love to everyone❤️
My partner and I were on the back roads of Montana. We stopped the car in the middle of nowhere and got out to enjoy the scenery. We were just chilling when out of nowhere another car pulled up almost beside us. The windows were tinted, no one got out and they just sat there. We only took a few minutes to decide that this was weird, we got back in our car and left. I don't know if they had bad intentions or not but my gut said something wasn't right and that was good enough for me.
It's so sad to see how fearful America is. I've backpacked all across India, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos and I've seen some crazy stuff. This level of fear from Americans in these comments would make it impossible to go travelling. You have to have a positive mindset or you'll completely miss out. Of course you have to have common sense. Some people are way way too trusting but circling the wagons everywhere you go deprives us of experience.
@@bennym5244 I know! It really sucks! We're so irrational, aren't we? It's not like people continually get murdered by serial killers here all of the time! America is the safest country ever. I have no idea why everyone is so worried! I've never heard of any murders happening ever! /sarcasm

His attitude may change- Fred hit southern NC mountains with unprecedented rain and flooding with wind and some tornadoes and it appears to have been much the same all up the Appalachians. Landslides, bridges and roads washed out, not a good time to be in any non-permanent shelter.Guess we'll get to see soon.
That "laughing" that you heard is the sound that a dog will make when they are in distress. I have heard this with female dogs and their puppies a lot.
Each of my beagles growing up made this exact sound it when he was feeling stress from an inability to be patient knowing he was momentarily about to go on a walk. That was a canine noise
This is actually one of my favorite of your video’s ( other than the laughing wacko) because it’s something I could do myself. I’m not physically able to make long hikes but I COULD do a truck camp like this and now I’m going to try one, Thanks for having something for everyone!
@@editingreality4779 so the coyote was riding in a truck with a guy yelling at it? Or was dude lying? And if you think he's a lyar, why watch his channel? 🤔🤔🤔
The "Laugh" sounds like a wolf pup, coyote, or dog. The person driving by on the public access to where you are located probably had a dog in the back of their truck that was anxious to get out and run round. I've heard my dogs make that same cry many times.
These days I carry a .380 S&W Body Guard semi-auto. It's light, dependable and "gets the job done." As and former Boy Scout, we were taught to "BE PREPARED." Good Idea!
You can have that handgun and a 380 I wouldn't trust my life to that gun . I never go any place now without the AR 15 in 7.62 x 39 I did for a short 16" barrel truck gun . I have for a change over the upper in 223 with 18 inch barrel . When I walk the rivers fishing Salmon or Steelhead the AR is with me . 30 round mag in the gun and a 30 round mag in the back pocket . Always remember don't let a stranger get any closer to you than 25 feet when by your self on some rivers or woods setting .
@@Lure-Benson sounds like you know your weapons & ammo! Don't think a squatch is gonna get in your space! Ha! I absolutely believe you should be VERY armed while hiking thru the forrest. I watch alot of videos David Paulides puts out, and honestly the stories really creepy! They r just bizarre, & happen in State parks. I still love the woods, but wouldn't dream of going in unprotected.
@@briannelson237 Yeah, it's just not one. Fox did cross my mind; they do giggle from time to time, but dog is the most logical candidate. Coyote? Still possible, maybe.
I would have agreed with you on that Except he also heard the male voice telling her to be quiet multiple times, so I’m thinking this time it wasn’t a coyote but a human. Most likely strung out unfortunately 😔😏
Well if it was related to a truck coming closer it was probably a dog in the truck....dog thinks hes getting out of the truck so he makes that noise....definately not a person.
Your cinematography has REALLY increased since you first started. That cloud sequence in the middle of this video was absolutely gorgeous! Makes this one of my fav vids of yours.
That whining laughing sound was a neurotic dog traveling with a human. As a dog groomer, I’ve heard that same sound from German shepherds whining/yelping nonstop for hours in the drying and holding cage.
Hi Luke, Drugs or not you are spot on about being hyper-alert & being "prepared" because there are some unsavory characters in this world & what better place be nefarious than a remote spot. In short, you never know who you are dealing with! - Godspeed
I've gone hiking/camping exactly zero times this summer. These videos allow me to enjoy the experience while I'm working from home. Crossing fingers that I'll get outside this fall.
Go get out u will be so glad u did it we forget to live and experience things.. it refreshes the mind body and spirit!! Well maybe the body is tired after.
I agree that the ‘night sound’ was coyotes. Experienced 3-5 coyotes passing thru a small primitive site at night & their calls among themselves was like maniacal laughter. It was close, loud, & sustained. They went among the tents doing this for about 10 minutes. I heard another camper exclaim “holy sh*t!” which was my thought as well. It was like this pack was on a drunken ramble having a great time.
The only camping I want to do is is at a Marriott, Hilton Inn or Hampton Inn! Seriously though, I enjoy watching these camping channels, and it's the best way of camping I'm ever going to do. Thank you for sharing your wild life adventure with us!
Jeepers! You're skilled at camping, photography or videography, cooking, conversation, wonderful content and truly beautiful scenery captured. I am so grateful for your channel, your hard work and effort put in to camerawork, mellow vibes, good information on camping gear and life. Love this so much...👍🏻💯🔥💛🧡❤️
Man that really sounded more like an extremely excited dog. Grew up using dogs to hunt and almost always they done that exact noise when they where excited and knew we was about to turn them out of the dog box. Mix between bark/whimper and heavy panting.
I had my large Akita with me while camping/hiking all across the US and never worried about people, but it does impose some unfortunate limits. There are many parks where you cannot take a dog, such as Yellowstone, etc. at least not on hiking trails, and very few shaded parking lots where you could potentially leave the dog in a well ventilated car for a few minutes to jog out to an overlook. I worried about encountering snakes, bears and mountain lions, as she did not back down from anything, and as she was same sex aggressive at times, even encountering other people with dogs was dicey. So taking a dog is not always the best answer if you want to see/experience everywhere fully.
Sad but true a dog has to be controlled at all times otherwise ur going to be up chits creek without a paddle. I normally don't go anywhere with out my fur baby next to me!
F that I'm taking my Cane Corso with me if I'm going out in the woods, or hiking, PLUS my 40 Glock n Ruger 22, n knife 🗡️, n AR if I'm camping, screw that I'm good without it garbage...
Grizzlies are out dere might need a grenade launcher lol bear spray I meant. I have not seen black bears don't even come around my house anymore, but when I first moved here the house was empty for 70 years. One guy attempted to rebuild this old house, but his help didn't arrive for him so he abandoned it. I've been living here working on the house for years first few years bears were knocking over my burn barrel well food scraps were in there too but ever since I got rid of the barrel no more bears.
It was an excited doggie -- probably wanted to get out of the vehicle for a walk. Mine used to go nuts like that whenever I'd get near the beach. Sounded just like a weird human laugh.
I may be tripping. But this guy actually exhibits some signs of addiction. The whole qualification about not being much of a drinker. Only a social drinker. So much a social drinker he has a flask filled with whiskey. The fact he goes in to the stories about all the other addicts in his family and how he literally invents an addict out of a coyote. The qualification against being lazy because a lot of people attribute addiction to laziness when you can have both productive and lazy addicts. I think it's at least possible this person suspects that they may have some addictions and unfortunately our society only teaches us addictions are bad instead of how to take accountability and get help. I'm probably wrong but since they felt the need to just judge people mask off I figure it's fair play right? Turn about?
THE COYOTE LAUGHING WAS DEFINITELY COYOTES LAUGHING AND IF HE'S SUCH AN OUTDOORS EXPERT HE SHOULDN'T BE NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THAT JUST TRYING TO AND HE'S TRYING TO SAY THAT SOMEBODY ON DRUGS WOULD BE OUT IN THE WOODS MAKING THIS SOUND. WELL THAT DOESN'T MAKE HIM VERY CREDIBLE IN MY EYES.
Luke Don’t you enjoy the food when bivouacking more than home? There’s just something magical about a meal prepared in the outdoors that makes it so satisfying. God blessings
Surely, that's a coyote or two (as others have said). Wait 'til you hear a large group of them out there. It's an eerie sound. I've also heard wolf packs when I'm out that sound almost like crying kids if they're not full-on howling. Keep up the gear reviews. I've been enjoying them!
@@brianwelter3192 yes sir. I believe your right the money with this one. Both of those animals can make noises like that. A Red Fox can scream out and it will sound exactly like a woman screaming. And coyotes, I don’t know what to call there sounds but out in the dark at night it will make the hair stand on the back of your neck.
Love your videos and watching you/yall on your camping journeys! It is always great content-led with great advice on what and how you do it! A true RUclips elite IMO with no BS entertainment just excellent family fun and always superb quality! Thanks for all you do for the dreamers/EVERYONE!

Sounded just like an excited and somewhat stressed pooch...probably owner let it out to run after the truck for exercise.. How cruel. Because often times a dog will suffer Paulides n to keep up, while its paws get torn and bruised. Just my opinion and analytical observation...The sound wasn't human to my ears...Thought coy dog at first..
Jelly is made from fruit juice, which is usually extracted from cooked, crushed fruit. ... Next up we have jam, which is made from chopped or pureed fruit (rather than fruit juice) cooked down with sugar.
You, and others I watch have inspired me to go solo camping. So far I have done about 4 trips alone. I must confess its been state parks, nothing primitive.
Just spending time alone at night in the woods is a great experience everyone healthy enough should do. You learn alot about yourself an this beautiful world we live in. Another is even if you don't hunt is to go out before day light an watch the sunrise with the idea of making no noise, you will be shocked at how loud the sound of silence is. An your breathing too! GOD BLESS!
I agree, our son got out of prison twelve years ago. He has been off the drugs every since. He will drink a beer but that is all. So far so good. Stay safe!
that view is gorgeous!!! I love a good thunderstorm and miss it. I live in the PNW so we rarely get any thunderstorms. There is something about cooking on propane stove in the outdoors that just makes the flavor so much better. I have a teenage daughter and we have talked about drugs and alcohol many times and what you are saying is exactly what I tell her. We also talked about if she gets into any situation and needs us we will pick her up NO questions asked. Then the next day we will discuss things. We always want her to feel that she can count on us to not overreact because then she will not want to call us if we start grilling her etc. Great advice.
I'm 66 y/o and "taking it easy" is preferable sometimes to long-distance hiking. As far as black flies go, wouldn't Vicks Vapo-Rub work as a bug repellent?
That rainbow at the top of that cumulonimbus storm cloud is most likely an iridescent pileus cloud, also called a scarf cloud or cap cloud. Pileus clouds are small, horizontal, lenticular clouds that can appear above fast growing cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds. If the pileus cloud is high enough to be made of ice crystals, the sunlight angle is just right, and the viewer’s angle is just right, then the sunlight can be refracted by the ice crystals to make the rainbow iridescence you saw. The pileus clouds aren’t necessarily rare but the iridescence is. So congrats! You got to see something rare and beautiful. 😊
The tower is a node for microwave links. With the top platform it may have had cellular at some point in the past. Towers get struck by lightning all the time. The lightning protection grounding system is extensive.
Definitely microwave with those kinds of dishes. Yup, no cellular antennas on that (short) tower. Old School that microwave business, isn't it? Military or FAA backup comms systems sounds about right.
This are Microwave links usually about 1.5 GHZ up to 2.5 GHz once use for telephone and radio usage. This set is newer so is probably internet capable. See the old history of these microwave repeater networks: 99percentinvisible.org/article/vintage-skynet-atts-abandoned-long-lines-microwave-tower-network/ The tower here in the video are the flattened-concave design so are newer and may be up to 5 GHZ for about 500 megabits per channel half-duplex after error checking bits, so that means this set of towers can transmit quite a bit of data per second! Range is about 20 km (12 miles) to as much as 60 km (40 miles) to the next tower. It's probably used by Comcast, Verizon, AT&T or whatever local phone and cable company repeater company for TV, Radio, Phones and low-bandwidth internet (i.e. 25 megabits per second or less per client) v
I use to be really hyper. After two hip replacements and a damaged lower back that does not allow me to sit, walk more than a few feet or lay down without constant pain, I have learned to be retired and do pretty much nothing. Stuck watching RUclips and movies for about 22 hours everyday.
Whoa! That was weird. I thought it was a coyote at first. You do have to be ready. As a former police officer, I’ve seen a lot of that crap. Very beautiful sunset! Love sleeping in the rain. Good video.
Nope, that's his innate disposition. That's part of his character, not his personality. That's an aspect of him that will be very difficult to change. Personality can be easy to change, character, not so much. I am high functioning autistic and I've researched this particular special interest of mine for decades now.
It’s been awhile since I watched. You know, get in different moods. It was fun! I live in the Sierras now. You would love it. Between Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. You and your wonderful family were a big inspiration to retire here. Take care!
Luke, all my life I've been a cloud junkie. That's what I call someone who LOVES cloud formations, thunderheads building, sunsets. It was instilled by our mother. You captured some epic cloud formations buddy!! Thank you.
Wow that's funny just a few days ago i finally decided i hate clouds They're unnecessarily complicated, kinda creepy and they block the sun The sky should always be blue and sunny in the day an full of stars at night Period
the rainbow in the clouds This can happen because of something called cloud iridescence. It usually happens in altocumulus, cirrocumulus, lenticular and cirrus clouds. Iridescent clouds happen because of diffraction - a phenomenon that occurs when small water droplets or small ice crystals scatter the sun's light.

@@cw6082 He is not a fool 😉 so no worries there .
Just get a pistol & you won't have to behave like prey.
Get a gun…hi cap semi auto.
@@kimjongryan9043 hence where I stated “multiple forms of protection on your person”. You holster your side arm, yes?
@@CaesarConsuloProVita precisely why I stated to have multiple forms of protection on your person. But yt doesn’t like the term “g u n” so I use other vocabulary for my description. 😜 However following ones gut instinct can avoid the need to pull a side arm.
So true! What part of the country do you camp in?
❤️🏴 UK.
Alle guten Wünsche für dich💚
I just celebrated 18 years on Mother's Day... Lost my brother 10yrs ago while I was visiting him 😥 The pain does hurt. I hated leaving my mama after my brother died.

I’ve been clean all my life 😊
I work at a vet clinic. From what I heard, it sounded like a dog so excited to get out of the truck it was "monkey" whining. It is bizarre sounding, but I hear it often as a groomer.
This. Or a coyote. It deformity wasn’t a human though regardless which four legged creature it was.
That didn’t even sound like a human laugh. I thought I was hearing a dog or coyote kind of noise. 🤣
I thought so too
Same here
Sounded like an animal to me
Was 100% an excited dog, my dogs make that exact sound when they start a walk
ugggghh if that was human then omg I’m freaking
How creepy!!
@@ES-qu1jd very creepy agree.
I know yoh wonder what those people on foot are doing out in the middle oc nowhere
Very smart man, my late husband said something very similar.
I miss the 80s & 90s
And my honest opinion this is why I say females should never ever camp alone
I day camp near home that's it
That was a coyote.
Since I retired six months ago I can now find time to SIT AND READ A BOOK!!!! YAAA!!
"Walk slow..drink plenty of water.." - Best advice ive ever gotten. Consequently, also the worst. Its all about perspective, I suppose.
Thanks for your comment, I could tell you from the heart
Rest is for the rich
I always bring one of my dogs with me when I head out to the woods. Dogs can smell intruders from far away and alert you. Plus it's always nice to have a companion 🤘
not to mention compared to some of my buddies, they're smarter, better looking, and can hold a conversation 🐕🦺🐕
Honestly, I think that was a dog, not a female human.
Drug dealers definitely deserve prison, not so much the people dependent on drugs.
same :(
same :(
4 ft stick works wonders
Yeah, that coyote sounded high af in the video...🙄
I encountered someone while I was at the Badlands, SD who was likely mentally ill, possibly dangerous and he was armed (I was not)... too long to tell the story in writing, but I managed to talk my way out of what could have been a horrible situation. This was September 2003 on a solo trip... miles from anyone or anywhere. To this day I am certain this guy was capable of some pretty dark things... and I was fortunate to keep calm and collected. I now carry any time I am out in the wild...
You should carry everywhere but your a grown man do whatever you want.
Good choice
I always have a subcompact on me when camping. I carry an AR15 when I go hiking. I feel I'm much less likely to ever have a confrontation with the AR. A concealed pistol isn't much of a deterrent until you pull it out.
@@rangerdoc1029 right on where two one concealed

Gee Wiz where do you go? This is my third season camp/hiking with my Winnebago Mini and I never take her into the thick of things. yikes!
Even then what nerve of people. I know when I go camping it’s to be alone and if I don’t know who you are you better not just come up on me. I am not a very trusting person.
@@Ukraineaissance2014 that’s so rude of people especially if they are strangers
I carry more weight backpacking than most but my pistol weighs close to 5 lbs loaded with bear rounds. I’m too old to play and too wise not to be prepared.
Those were coyotes yipping, not a woman's voice; they were warning their clan of the intruders (other vehicle you heard) I used to live in an area where there were many coyotes so heard them quite often.
In England we dont use the separate names for like jam, jelly, preserves, we just lump it all under Jam, and when it comes to jelly we just use that name for the wobbly stuff you have at kids parties :)
Same here in Australia too!
Same in New Zealand.
We call the wobbly stuff jello. 😛☺️
I just can’t understand how any woman (and most men) feel safe camping alone. Y’all are way braver than me.
if you want to get away from everyone then its by choice but once that runs out then it becomes work
You need a dog as early warning system. Especially while overnighting.I camped alot alone. One night about 1 am im in lala land and had some guy walk right up to the camper My cattle dog took exception to that and had him running and screaming. Made me mad though coz i spent the next 4 hrs up not able to sleep. I packed up and left at day break.
Because I bring a rifle with me lmao
A college student went to camp alone in the wilderness. I seen the new a few years back. He was a foreign student who love the wilderness in US. Unfortunately he died of natural death. I do not know how long until he was found. Thats the risk when you camp alone.

Good smart words! Couldn't have said it any better!👍
Funny you said that. I do the same allways panning around and my friends like to say that I paranoid.
God Bless You, and prayers up🙏
An addict doesn't have a "choice", just so you know. Like cancer or diabetes, it's a disease. It's not your fault, and it's not their fault. May you continue to be blessed🙏
I did the same with my drug addicted daughter. Best thing I've ever done. He has always been a gift. He turns 21 as of today. Good luck with everything.
you chose a vaccine that gave you blood clots. probably didn't though haha
I love it...Daughter shows-up w/ her BF and his parents...Yeah I'm goin' camping
I am glad to know that you are enjoying a beautiful place in your retirement.
Keep on rockin'!
@@BBQDad463 You Bet I Am , at least as best as I can, thank God for 4 wheeler s and off road motorcycles though ! It keeps me active and in the forest where I want to be.

Most people go, “aw, it’s going to rain, forget camping,” you, “ah, it’s going to rain, let’s go camping!”
That's how I feel about snow and cold weather! "It's gonna snow this weekend? Cool, I'm going camping!"
thats how my friend is
His attitude may change- Fred hit southern NC mountains with unprecedented rain and flooding with wind and some tornadoes and it appears to have been much the same all up the Appalachians. Landslides, bridges and roads washed out, not a good time to be in any non-permanent shelter.Guess we'll get to see soon.
I'm jealous of that attitude, I wish I could enjoy camping in the rain the same way he does.
Could it be that’s why?
That "laughing" that you heard is the sound that a dog will make when they are in distress. I have heard this with female dogs and their puppies a lot.
Each of my beagles growing up made this exact sound it when he was feeling stress from an inability to be patient knowing he was momentarily about to go on a walk. That was a canine noise
This is actually one of my favorite of your video’s ( other than the laughing wacko) because it’s something I could do myself. I’m not physically able to make long hikes but I COULD do a truck camp like this and now I’m going to try one, Thanks for having something for everyone!

For that exact reason, I was thankful my friend was always 'carrying' whenever we camped in remote places like that.
The "Laugh" sounds like a wolf pup, coyote, or dog. The person driving by on the public access to where you are located probably had a dog in the back of their truck that was anxious to get out and run round. I've heard my dogs make that same cry many times.
I’m so blessed and thankful that no one in my family or anyone around me have ever had drug or alcohol issues. Prayers for your family.

30 round mag in the gun and a 30 round mag in the back pocket .

I've been living here working on the house for years first few years bears were knocking over my burn barrel well food scraps were in there too but ever since I got rid of the barrel no more bears.

I thought u meant another type of cloud
Wow that's funny just a few days ago i finally decided i hate clouds
They're unnecessarily complicated, kinda creepy and they block the sun
The sky should always be blue and sunny in the day an full of stars at night
Period
Perfect music choice for the occasion, that’s the way I feel on a trip like that.

The cloud phenomenon is known as a sundog, that cloud has a hail core, it’s just light reflection and is essentially a rainbow.
the rainbow in the clouds This can happen because of something called cloud iridescence. It usually happens in altocumulus, cirrocumulus, lenticular and cirrus clouds. Iridescent clouds happen because of diffraction - a phenomenon that occurs when small water droplets or small ice crystals scatter the sun's light.
That's not a human laughing, my friends dog makes the exact same sound whenever there's a thunderstorm close by or going on.
That was my thought too. Sounded like a Husky or Malamute to me.
@@christophermagrin1492 It's a Malamute that my friend has and she sounds like she's laughing at the storm but is actually cowering under a bed and shivering with fear.
@@samc705 maybe that's why he heard someone say to shut up or calm down?
