I like your videos Drew. I also want to thank you for your responsiveness via email. I asked you a question and you were able to send me a very detailed response.
A good teacher by all standards... Thank you Drew.... You make my studies very easy....God bless you with more wisdom n knowledge to impart people like me
He does such a good job that I can usually figure out what he's going to say next because it's so easy to follow. If only school had been this easy to follow! Lol
Thank you Drew, I just changed from a Yamaha to an x32 and the fx is so very different to apply. I watched at least 10 videos trying to understand it and yours was the first to make it 'click' in my head. Thank you! As much as I like some things about the x32, the Yamaha is soooo much easier!
Thanks for sharing this information. It has been extremely helpful to me. We have the X32 Compact at our church and while some of the buttons are not in the same places, understanding the concept has helped me search, and for the most part, discover how to implement reverb in our vocals and guitar. I think I have it working in the monitors as well, but still doing some testing. I'm not a sound board guy. I played the bass for a long time and had to step in when our sound guy left. And playing a Fender Precision, which has only volume and tone, my mind has always been a bit simple when it comes to this stuff. Anyway, I really appreciate your instructions for us simpletons.
I think it’s important to understand that you can adjust how much you want to send to the reverb buss as well. Setting the reverb buss and the returns to 0dB (aka unity gain), you can then send however much you want by setting the individual channel levels being sent to the buss to get just the right effect. The busses can then be used to turn down the reverb.
This was awesome Drew!! I needed a last-minute video for a gig and I had no clue how to send and return effects and now I get it 😎 tysm and keep up the good work!
Video Idea: I am new to all this and I get a bit confused by the terminology. I have a Berringer 32 rack and have had a learning curve on the terms like AUX, MIX BUS, PRE FADER, POST FADER. I know this is extremely basic to many but can be a bit confusing for some of us that are new to the audio world.
Not related to reverb, but would you be able to do a Video on Eqing an electric drum set. Our church does not want the loudness of acoustic drums. It has been very hard to find good information on electric drum eq recommendations. Thanks for your videos.
Very informative. Thanks for sharing! Could you please do a video on all the parameters on the reverb and delay units, and maybe how you would EQ your effects returns?
You can’t send a bus to a bus on the x32 so you’d need to use a matrix and send the post fader stream mix bus and the fx returns sending to a matrix and then output that matrix to your computer or stream board
@@jeffsilva9754 you can, but that’ll need someone monitoring/mixing ideally in a separate space, goi g post fade means you’re live mix changes are reflected on stream. This is much easier to manage for most smaller churches
@@steveemery30 Yea I know, honestly, it’s better to put it as pre fader because whatever you change in the house doesn’t affect the live stream. We’re a small church and we have it set up this way and it’s much easier than having it as post fader like you’re saying.

Hello, thanks for the video. I requested this in the past but I’ll try again. If possible could you please make a video with sound samples of your effects and presets. Will be very helpful. Thanks
That’s great, Drew. Can you take us through how we would apply that same reverb to the Channel 1 mic mix into the live stream, which for us is aux sends 11 & 12
thanks for your tutorial videos, if possible can you make a video on how to properly connect my m32 to a main mixer on touring, and how to connect the outputs to have control of the aux monitors and main outputs
Thanks, Drew. Can you provide an explanation on how to add reverb to an aux used for IEM mix? My vocalists want to hear some reverb on their voices in their ears…
A problem I see all too often in places of worship for example is people getting all kinds of big equipment without really knowing how to really use it, and as a result they get results contrary to what they want to achieve. My thing is too keep things simple. Get only what you need to get. Aim to create a setup that is easy and intuitive. Presonus mixers are very good options in this aspect.
Thanks for the video! ❤ I heard that related to this effect send/return thing on the Behringer there is something dangerous that could cause immediate feedback, with the mixer sending the reverb return to the reverb itself in an infinite loop or something like this. Do you maybe have a video about this?
Hello, Drew! Thank you for your videos, they're extremely helpful!) Is it all right to set the FX level not with Return faders but with Sends ones? Just it is much easier to see musicians in the left section and FX - in the right one...
Hi I never liked the x32 before becoz of its complexity. I have to admit youve made it easy. One thing I try to understand is why do you turn your effects on bus mster 1-4 and not on 13-16?

controlling the level at the mix bus instead of the effect return has the benefit of being able to trail off the effect if you fade it down or mute it. Controlling the level at the effect return has the benefit of not effecting other mixes, such as a livestream mix. Using the mix bus fader is pretty much only useful on reverbs and delays.
Thank you! I just got an X32 last week and am struggling with this. Can you send a different amount of reverb to the mains than you send to the monitor?

Thank you so much for all the great content Drew. Helping me so much with getting our x32 set up at church. Is it possible to do a video on managing IEM mixes for the worship team? We have a small team of musicians who might have a different role each Sunday (ie. swap between vox, piano, bass, drums each week) and they will want a slightly different mix each depending what they're playing. Do you have any tips on how to save indivdual IEM mixes etc. I know scenes could help, however its not practical to save a scene for every scenario as it could be different every Sunday! Also, any advice on how to manage changing IEM mixes for different lead vocalists for different songs during the same set? Again, loading up a new scene is also not helpful for this mid-set 🤔 Any advice you can offer would be amazing. Keep up the good work! Bless you.
Is the process of selecting the mic channel and then clicking sends on fader the same as selecting the Mixbus with FX and clicking on sends on fader and adjusting the level of the Mic there?
Is there a way to fix this? (Go easy on me plz, I'm learning.) I have a vocal channel sending to reverb. I also want to send the vocals with reverb to my EIM. So far so good. I have the problem where if I lower/mute the EIM vocals, I can still hear them come thru the reverb. If I change the send to Pre-Fader, then if I lower the main vocal channel, the reverb won't go into the EIM for the vocals. Vocals is just an example. A better case might be another musicians instrument that maybe I'd like to mute in my EIM, but their reverb still bleeds the sound in my ears.
First of all thank you for helping understand the x32. Turns out I have been doing it the other way around all the time. I select bus 13, turn on "sends to fader" and slide up the mics who need that effect. Is there an important difference between these two methods? The end result looks the same?
I’m new to digital console #x32 m32. Gate and Dynamic is an issue for me. Secondly do I compress per channel or compress on bus or main? Also how do get recording to play? I see signal from usb but to no sound
Hi Drew, at first thanks for this cool presentation. Some issues solved here! I have a question. We use the rack version of x32 + SD8 to have 16 outs and use for main Vox channel 17 (internal) routed to a SD8 out on ch.8. Now my question, I followed your instruction and see on meters fx is active but I still hear a clean Vox. on the particular out. What I made wrong? Can you help pls?
I am very new at this people say I have an ear for it but my problem I am having is when the instruments get high i loose my vocals so I turn the instruments down and the gain up maybe a notch or two tops but then the vocals get very pitchy like cats fighting how do I flatten the high pitch voice down and keep them above the instruments Hopefully this make sense to some one Thank u
If you have multiple channels going to an effect, how do you change the amount of effect on one channel without effecting the the amount on the other channels going to the same effect?
Hi drew, I’d like to know how to setup a second set of floor speakers and control their volume separately from the main LR PA. No floor monitors, but speakers facing the audience. Thank you!!
I have issue with feedback tho. When I turn up reverb return it starts crazy feedback that is impossible to control. I work on x-air 18 and mixing station but all functions are the same. I don't get it
Can I set different effects for all 32 channels. Or is it possible to set different effects for only four stereo output channels (bus 1-8, bus 9-16 and so on).
Anyone can help, i think i set a channel into 2-effects (Channel-9 --> Bus 15 & Bus 16), how to remove a channel from a Bus effect? Or how to remove inputs into the Bus? Thanks!
Thanks a lot, I got a lot out of your video. And I do have questions for you. If you do check this, write me back and when I’m not working, I will definitely get back with you. I have many many questions.
Question: If we have left and right outputs routed to output 15 and 16 (because our snake doesn’t have a dedicated L/R), can we still have the Fx sends on 13-16 or should we move them to 11-14?
Hello Drew, we've met before on the internet when you helped me with the X32. The problem I now want to share with you is solved but I'd like to share it anyway. Due to COVID it had been a while since I mixed with the X32 but last summer it came along. In a live gig I had a problem with a huge feedback beep on my X32. It happend when I wanted to add somme DeLay on the vocals. What happend? I let the vocal send to bus 16 witch lead to the FX-4 (Stereo Delay). On the board I set the FX Returns to zero. And by accident I led the FX Returns back again to bus 16. Wow. You expect what happend. At first nothing happend as long as I had the bus master 16 down. But when I tried to add some Delay to the PA (bus master 16 up) there was a massive feedback. I don't know if it should be possible (I think on a analoque mixer it is not) but it happend. I knew the X32 enough to clear the mistake I made. What do you make of it? Just some dumb luck ..
For controllability. This is a professional level board so the goal is to give the technician a large amount of flexibility to accommodate a wide range of possible needs but it comes at the expense of being less user friendly.
I’m still stuck - I get it on one channel and the mains then the next channel I do those same steps and I’m dead in the water. Anyone an x32 master than I can call?

Thanks a lot, I got a lot out of your video. And I do have questions for you. If you do check this, write me back and when I’m not working, I will definitely get back with you. I have many many questions.
So if i use bus 13 -16 for my fx, how do i still use bus 15/16 for PA L&R?
Buses and outputs are independant.
Question: If we have left and right outputs routed to output 15 and 16 (because our snake doesn’t have a dedicated L/R), can we still have the Fx sends on 13-16 or should we move them to 11-14?
You are fine using 13-16 because the mix buses are not automatically linked to any output.
If you mute a channel would that mute the FX as well or would i have to mute the FX as well as with the channel its being sent to
Muting a channel will effectively mute the effect.
Hi.need a personal video on this. Please explain slower
My channels 13-16 don’t pick up any sound what the hell!!
Why is this all so confusing?? I just want to put reverb on my vocals
For controllability. This is a professional level board so the goal is to give the technician a large amount of flexibility to accommodate a wide range of possible needs but it comes at the expense of being less user friendly.
This is also pretty much how all effect racks are setup.
Brother you said a mouthful. I’m in hell with this right now.
Step 1 is to realize that you don't put reverb on a channel, you send the channel to the reverb.
@@ToddWCorey1 Thank you! So am I right in thinking that to send a channel to the reverb, I have to assign that channel to a bus of some sort?
I’m still stuck - I get it on one channel and the mains then the next channel I do those same steps and I’m dead in the water. Anyone an x32 master than I can call?
