LOL! "155...you're doing exactly what it says, but what it says here isn't exactly what he wanted." My WORD, to have had the privilege of knowing Mr. Maslanka, and having that depth of knowledge! These kids are getting one HECK of a musical education...and they're only in high school!?!? I imagine that they are very appreciative!

"Can you play it faster? Just a litte bit? Because, if Mr. Maslanka were here.....which he is..."
That comment actually made me tear up a little

Jerry and David are absolute American treasures! I had the privilege of meeting and interviewing David Maslanka a few months before he passed away. We were doing his Mass.

I’m a junior in high school and I couldn’t imagine being on this level of conductor and ensemble

I love at 1:24:23 in the Sax solo, the director gives notes, and instantly you can hear the extra dynamics and swelling of the phrases. Excellent job!

This is my favorite piece of all time and seeing Dr. Junkin's take on it is amazing, it's a school with a history but you can see why they were named the honor band here! Great players, very musical! Wish I could have seen the final product back then

Outstanding group! I adore Dr. Junkin, and it was so fun watching him work with the students.

Wow, Jerry is just amazing at bringing music out of people. He was inspiring to perform under for the several years I had the opportunity!

I am very jealous. As a band director, I have never performed any of his music.

“The reality is that once you allow yourself to think (the tempo) is possible, then it happens. If you don’t allow yourself to think that it’s possible, it doesn’t happen. The blockage is not with the fingers or the technique but with the ability to conceive.” - David Maslanka

What's the logic behind placing the 1st horn to the far left?
