Great review! I've been looking at this thing. It looks, and sounds way cool. I think pretty soon, I'm going to give it a shot, and add this to the gear-box. Looks like a fun tool to throw in front of a bunch of different amps, to see what I can get.
This is actually a really cool unit and not too complicated. I think I could (relatively simply) build some great patches on this. I would keep it on the coffee table for some late night practicing. Price is great too.
I agree with Matt, the Zoom G3 is better made and there are a large number of patches you can buy if you want the sounds of your favorite artist. The Flamma is not stocked by any seller in the UK or Europe. There is a frustrating pattern to these units, they just don't seem to want buyers that live on the other side of the pond. At least Zoom. Boss etc have UK and Europe distibutors, and backup if you need it.
I am myself a fan of zoom products but where they fall short is with amp modelling, they are really behind what companies like Mooer have came up with lately. And by the way I suspect flamma products to be based on the Mooer amp modeling algorithms..

I've owned and tested, in multiple live situations, all of the different versions of this firmware build (for example, the Mooer GE150 is an exact clone, but with a plastic housing). They all would be outstanding units, were it not for a couple of fatal, deal-breaking flaws that I've had the displeasure of experiencing while in live use. So, yeah...NOT good. The first problem I encountered was that, randomly, on some but not all banks where you build your own preset, the modulation effect will reset itself to maximum level, no matter where you set it when you built the preset. Yeah,I know. Weird! And their support team didn't know how to fix it. Again (let's see if I can explain this better): if you set up a preset with a modulation effect (flanger, let's say), and you set the level to "5", and saved it, here's what might happen on some (butagain, not all) banks -- you'll turn off the unit, and then, when you turn it back on, the level on the flanger for that preset will reset itself to a level of "10". Have you ever hit a pedal in a live performance and had one of the values you thought you set to your preference be COMPLETELY out of whack? Yeah, it sucks. The second problem I've found is that the expression pedal can NOT be reliably set to any other values than the default of: Min=0%, Max=100%. This sucks because I, personally, lie to set my volume pedals to Min=50%, Max=100%, so that I have a set rhythm volume (Min) and a set lead volume (Max). Easy, right? Well, these pedals don't seem to be able to do that. No matter how I've tried (and again, only on certain banks), it just goes backto factory default. So anyway, these are things you'll never hear from any of these gear review channels, because odds are, they don't actually use the gear they review enough to find all the practical flaws. What really irked me, though, is that the company's own support team was utterly clueless.
I been playing for 4 years and had couple distortion pedals tend to fail over time but this will be perfect for me and price is perfect sure it's expensive but your getting alot more out of it
4 years and you've had multiple pedals already fail? I've been playing for 30 years and have a Boss HM-2 I've had that entire time (that was used and worn when I got it) still plays same as when I got it. Boss are built like tanks.. Pretty sure they'll survive the Zombie Apocalypse.
I was surprised by the reverb because FLAMMA makes the FS02 Reverb with 6 reverb voices and a looper with a spec higher than Strymon. They also do an equally good delay the FS03. Both sell for $68.00 USD I have the FS22 EKOVERB with the best of both I got for $100.00 USD . It rivals my EMPRESS FX Echosystem a $450.00 USD unit with what has the current state of the art spec.
@@addictedtogear I expect because of the price point they will leave it and go upmarket but still cheap. A hundred more would still be very good and it could double the features and sound quality.They could move into Line 6 Territory!
For the money I prefer the zoom g3n. Built like a tank and excellent quality. I run it through my effects loop for all delay, reverbs, noise gate, tremolo and chorus.
@@addictedtogear it's a handy practice unit for travel etc but I wish you had shown a demo of how to edit an existing preset and make it your own. Are all 200 editable? Sometimes the limitations of these units is not discovered until you start editing the patches. I've seen modeling amps gray out a lot of " available " opinions because the amp or cab sim selected takes up too much memory/ dsp resources.

Every preset is completely customizable, you have the option to save all your custom settings, as well as a factory reset to reset all the presets to their original settings. The cab settings even include different microphone/distance combinations that they were captured from. He's extremely happy with the pedal and very impressed with the quality... especially for the price.

Can someone please explain how to turn it off i wanted to use this on a pedal board but i cant turn off whatever effects i set the system too i really hope there is a way to either turn off or maybe a setting that wont effect the guitar tone that i can switch too
From the comments it looks like when this unit is sold out, the company can probably disappear and you're left with a unit with potential issues that cannot get resolved, repaired, replaced?
I wish you would have demonstrated how to create and save your own custom presets. I still have not been able to figure that out and the manual is useless. Update - I heard from FLAMMA about this and the computer software is about useless. This unit does not have the capability to manipulate custom presets you can only overwrite existing presets. This was very disappointing so I broke down and got a Helix Floor, which is simply awesome.
This is the 7th video that I watch. And ALL the people reviewing this flama all do the same, just reviewing the effects and effects only. Isn’t this a looper? Nobody reviewed the looper OR the drums! It’s frustrating.
@@addictedtogear I meant in yours and other videos on the Flamma, I was surprised to see how small it is compared to the reviewers hands in the videos. Maybe I tend to equate that with cheap junk since there’s a lot of stuff popping up nowadays. A kind of copy of the Flamma is the Sonic FX100 that appeared recently, the amp models from their demos sound terrible where Flamma sounds good and very authentic. The Sonic could be junk. I also meant that didn’t know how Flamma compared to other modeling units for authentic tone. I have a Digitech RP500 which isn’t brand new modeling since it was designed in the late 2000’s but I do like it for its super user friendly operation instead of scrolling, great effects and excellent Lexicon reverbs.

I just got one, can't use the software, says I need a firmware update, can't find a firmware on the flamma site . Anyone know how to do this ?

Overall its a very nice unit. Maybe they will update the reverbs down the line...

Agree 100% is if you are looking for modulation, reverb and delays. If you want amp modelling zoom falls short.

The interface is great compared to my boss katana which is quote complicated.
Could you tell me how it sound in the fx loop?
Is it a lot better than the MG300? I found that unit to have terrible transients that could not be EQed out. To me it was suitable for 14yo's only.
