I could’ve seen that not fixing the fuel tank. I’ve done a couple fc rusty tanks before and you have to take it out. There’s several ways to do it but I use small pebbles or hardware and vinegar. You let it soak on each side and spin it around and that breaks up all that stuff, rinse it out with solution of oil and water in there so it doesn’t flash rust on you. Tank comes out pretty easy, just remember that tube on the top of the tank for vent, I always end up breaking mine :)

I refurbished an old tank for my fc by creating a dunk tank using 30 gallons of Evaporust and a 50 gallon Rubbermaid container. Soaked for 3 days and the tank looks new
