    My problem is after receiving error during installation of w10 my legion 5 does not see any memory devices, not bootable usb, nor the ssd drive. I couldn't find anything in bios to change that. It can see both of my ssd in system info, but they are not in the list of bootable devices🤔

I followed your video to the letter ... the only thing that changed was a small bios menu that had 16 lines ... it ended with "launching efi\boot\bootx64.efi"... and then we got in to the repeating cycle of automatic repair boot ... help ! ... I do not want to return it because I really want to start using the thing ... waited very long to save for it

    Hello im having a legion system too in my case its a desktop t5 pc where i have windows 11, i also have a pendrive with a botable garuda installation that i did from my friend pc that had garuda linux installed on it, i just tried this os on my friend pc and felt in love with it my friend told me that with linux i can even do a permanent installation on a pendrive and use it on any pc, and then i gave an empty pendrive to my friend and i installed garuda linux into it, tried it and wow i just loved it , now i would love to back try that linux installation but on my pc. By the way i have eard that booting a linux system on a windows machine with secure boot enabled will harm the secure boot and make the pc no longer booting anything, or even no longer powering up anymore, is that true? Im scared because i dont want to harm my new pc.

      It was some progress i think, but i don't know what to do furthermore, i'm kinda tinkering with it now.

      @@furulevi I've found the solution, for those come across this comment, my problem turned out to be the rufus is keep formating the usb as MBR even i chose GPT. This confirmed after creating bootable with rufus, it showed as MBR on aomei PA.
      The solution;
      I install a winpe (bootable media) via aomei,
      The usb was detected perfectly on the target laptop, then when aomei launched at target laptop, i chose (windows command line),
      Then i plugged the external sata containing win does installation and call the setup exe via command line.

    Hi , I have a problem with my Lenovo 5 17ACH6H 2021 (AMD Ryzen 5800/nVidia 3070) , which maybe a common problem among the users of the latest Legion 5 and Legion 5 Pro due to reduced options in the new BIOS. My laptop came with Win 11, installed on the coming with the laptop 512 Gb Samsung m.2 ssd and I decided to leave it for future testing, bought a new 1Tb m.2 nvme and installed Windows 10 Pro on it using the mehtod you showed here. There was no problem to chose the new SSD as main System drive for the Win 10 OS, but now i cannot switch to the previus Win 11 on the smaller 512Gb ssd - there is no bootable option between both drives in BIOS. The most interesting part is that the laptop now boots Win 10 on the new harddisk, as if it's the default boot device, but the only bootable option for ssd in UEFI (Bios) is the first original 512gb drive, that came with win 11 preinstalled. Even the System Information tab in the Lenovo UEFI (BIOS) recognizes the second ssd, but it cannot be detected in Bootable options, which is super strange (maybe, I assume, because of the type of file formats MBR or GPT of the new SSD, i ll check that idea later). Are there any BIOS updates that can enable switching between both SSDs or i am stuck with only one for the moment ?

    • @furulevi
      @furulevi  2 года назад +2

      Since the bootable flash drive must be in UEFI mode, I guess all hard drives must use UEFI also, not the older MBR mode.

    • @HURSAs
      @HURSAs 2 года назад +1

      @@furulevi Yup , you are right, I checked in device manger, both harddrives are in AHCI mode with GPT partitioning structure and yet again only the one ssd that came with the laptop is recognized as bootable device, although the default booting OS is on new second one. I presume the problem is due to how PCIe 3 x4 bus controller is connected to both drives - maybe if I manually switch their places the default bootable device with switch too, but I prefer not to open it again at least for now, because in the process there is always a small possibility to break some of the plastic clamps holding it together.

      Hey, did you solve the issue? I have a problem now. My L5 does not see any bootable devices. I received error during W10 installation from usb. I reinstalled W10 on usb and now laptop does not see any device when option comes to choose bootable device. If you found the solution other than opening your laptop please let me know. I tried all possible settings in bios. Nothing helped.And bios is so limited compared to the video tutorials related to this problem

    • @HURSAs
      @HURSAs Год назад +1

      @@user-tk4ld9jq1t Yup , INSTALLATION GUIDE AND FIX NOTES HERE:
      * If you want to install a new Windows Operating system on the same original or on a second new nVME SSD drive :
      1) First prepare a bootable USB Flash Memory drive for Windows installation with the Microsoft Media Creation tool if you are on the same laptop with the original OS or (if you are on an old Desktop PC cuz your new Legion 5 laptop has no OS by default) use the 3rd party free sofware called Rufus on your Desktop PC with the Windows Installation "Create ISO" option from the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. After the ISO file has been downloaded and created, you need to start Rufus sofware and change the following settings - change the Partition scheme to "GPT" and targeting OS System to "UEFI", Load the Windows Installation ISO, created from Microsoft Media Creation tool, and select the USB Flash Stick memory (you can watch these steps on "Rufus software tutorial" on RUclips);
      2) Enter your Legion 5 BIOS "Advanced menu" during initial booting ("BIOS" is actually the wrong name - "UEFI" is actually the right name with all new Laptop and Desktop computers) and go to activate the "Boot from USB" option;
      3) It will prompt you to load your prepared Flash Memory Installation Stick as default bootable device and the Microsoft Windows Installation process will start from it;
      4) During the installation process, after selecting a Fresh Windows Installation option, it will show you a window with both SSDs and their partitions as possible Installation drives. There is a small possibility that your new second SSD is not shown in the options for Installation - that is in case your new SSD is not Formated in "GPT" scheme mode - you can fix that using tutorial in RUclips for "GPT formating SSD" using Command Prompt during Installation Process (faster way but maybe a little bit harder) or using the integrated Microsoft Partition tool in already installed Windows OS on the same laptop or on another computer (much slower, but easier way).
      5) If you want a clean SSD drive Installation, before you select the partition, on which you want to install the new Windows OS, make sure that there are no old Installations of Windows on the same drive - if there are - delete them and format the SSD from the interface buttons to create brand new System partition. IMPORTANT: If you have original Windows installation and you want to keep it as usable Operating system - Do not FORMAT or DELETE your original SSD's partitions by mistake!
      6) At the end of the Installation process Laptop will load the new installed OS by default and will prompt you to finish the installation with your help;
      ** Both SSD share the same PCIe connection to the CPU, so that's why only one of them is recognized as Primary and shown in the BIOS/UEFI.
      *** Every time you want to switch between first and second OS - you need to repeat the same process described here:
      Before restarting the Windows (does not matter if it is Windows 10 or 11) hold "Shift" button on your keyboard and while holding it press the "Restart" button in your Start menu:
      1) If you are in Windows 10, before going into restarting process a Microsoft Window will prompt you to choose between options like "Repair" , "Save mode" .... and the one that you need - "CHOOSE Different Operating System".
      2) If you are in Windows 11 , the same window will be prompted on boot time after restarting process has begun.
      Choose the option " Choose Different oparation system" and then it will prompt you to select between the names of each installed OS on the laptop.
      You don't need to go into UEFI/BIOS at all - in UEFI/BIOS you will see only one Primary SSD and the second one will not be visible. That's because by default the UEFI booting system of the laptop recognizes only one Primary nVME SSD, but Windows OS is not limited like BIOS booting systems and recognizes any Different Installations on any different Partitions or any different nVME SSD drives.
      Notes:
      ^ If you have installed Windows 10 on the first SSD and Windows 11 on the second SSD - there was a bug last year (2021) - in the "Choose Different Operating System" option - Windows 11 OS name on the first SSD was recognized as Windows 10, but actually it is still Windows 11, just the name is wrong. The good thing was that you can still see that both installations
      have their different partition locations on the two SSD disks so you need to remember which one you want to load. With the last Windows 11 updates the bug has been fixed and you can see the accurate names for Windows 11 and Windows 10.
      ^^ If you have installed two Windows 10 Operationg systems (or two 11) - each on different SSD - on the option to "Choose different Operationg System" there is also info about which partiotion it is installed on - they have the same name but the partition is different... so you need to remember which OS corresponds to which partition number (for example first OS for me is on partition "number 3" and the second one is on partition "number 6".

      @@HURSAs thank you very much for your reply but my problem was thag i did not have windows on ssd. Because i was getting a blue screen error very often i decided to reinstall windows, so it gave me error in the middle of the process. So, my ssd was empty disk and my laptop was not detecting my usb anymore after i used other iso file to recreate bootable usb. The thing is i didn't have another computer at hand so i created new bootable usb through my phone. So, the problem was what you described. It was not uefi. I visited my lab just to make bootable usb again. Everything worked. Thanks
