Like most surveys, this one is deeply flawed. As others have pointed out, there's not a very big range of body types in his survey, but you also want to eliminate as many variables as possible. First, cut off their heads (in the photo, not their actual heads). Many voters will be swayed by facial appearance, but it's supposed to be survey on body types. Next, each model should be in the same pose, and ideally the same outfit.

These two comments are truths I've been saying for years. Always the heterosexual men and the elusive patriarchy were blamed for the fashion representation excess and their disastrous results. Like the period of the "porno chic" pictured with underage girls. But strangely the women in the men's magazine didn't look at all like in the fashion world. Shocker all this is concocted by gay men and women leaning heavily on the feminist side. And yet heterosexual men are the one who are toxic, weird.

The question was whats the best for you. That means, there are men who prefer 13% over 24% but would decided that 29% or 25% is better than either of them. There's 4 women in the options who look like they are into fitness. And 4 women who are just about looking pretty in bikini without fitness part. You could think it closer to like 26% of men have preference for some of the fitness women and 74% of men prefer one of the other women. And if you look for fitness women it's clear which one is the best.

The issue is that beauty isn't rated in isolation. It's highly relevant to the attractiveness of the people someone is being compared to. In general, men will find more body types attractive, however they will become more selective if there are other attractive women being compared. That's why the standards are so high for celebrities and models. They are literally being compared to the most attractive women on the planet. However even celebrities whose looks have faded could be the hottest girl in the room if they walking into a regular club.
It's like how guys will judge the athleticism of professional athletes to an extremely high standard. A running back for your favorite football team might be catching criticism for having lost a step on the field, but would still be the most fit person, by far, if they showed up at a random party.
There are simply different scales being used. If you are not trying to be a professional based on your looks or fitness, then comparing yourself to those standards is mostly meaningless.

My take as a woman on the vote discrepancy of the white bikini body type because I'm puzzled so many think the reason is jealousy: The survey was "what is your preferred body type", not "which do you think is most attractive to men". Women and men like different things. Women's ideal is for their own body, i.e. "this is me but hotter".
So it depends who you ask. There are a lot of women who share the ideal with men and want that Kardashian shape which is popular in Miami. I've seen overweight women say that's their ideal body too because they want to keep the big boobs and hips but look more snatched around the waist. On a forum where the women are all into fitness, you're going to see them choose the fit/skinny woman because the ideal is "me but more lean" not "me if I had $50,000 worth of surgery". Hope this helps.

Men don't try to optimize, they have a 'good enough' point which isn't a high threshold. We're not hypergamous and go after the top of the top. I think as long as minimum thresholds are passed, that's fine. In fact, being too optimized may signal high maintenance and could be a deterrent. For marriage and commitment, body doesn't matter as much as personality / attitude. Eventually all beauty and attractiveness are lost through age.

Most men I've talked to (and this includes myself) really have more of a range of what they find attractive. Also, proportions are more important than body fat percentage. A taller woman with wide hips and big breasts will still look very good at a higher body fat percentage / with more muscle mass in the upper body, because she still has a feminine shape. If you're decently fit in regards to legs and ass, you can also carry more fat and still look good. Petite women (short and delicate in build), on the other hand, will quickly lose their shape if they gain a lot of weight (fat or muscle mass in the upper body).
Overall, the overwhelming majority of women can look fairly attractive if they're at a reasonable body fat percentage and have a fit lower body.

Great video, the only thing about the waist to hip ratio study though, is that it likely tests men’s preferences for waist sizes to a significant extent as well, not just hip to waist ratio. I can say myself that I’d choose the 0.7 of the 3D models there as well, but I find women with high waist to hip ratios but narrow hips and narrow waists to be very attractive. There is definitely an obsession with exaggeratedly low ratios amongst women at the moment that’s quite silly. The woman that women rated as most attractive to men also looked way too lean to me. Number 5 in the male preferences list followed by 1, 4 and 2 are the most attractive to me. Love your content.

I think Menno's intention was to rate between idealized images of body type, as you're pointing out. The ordinary world is very different, personality and perceived maintenance become primary considerations, which don't translate well to images. I might rate one woman as 'most attractive' based on appearance, but she could also be at the bottom of my list for most desirable as a wife or long-term partner. I think appearance only really matters in terms of drawing people over to initially interact with you...I think my wife is lovely, but I met her when she came over to hit on one of my friends, and her personality just completely captured me. I absolutely would have pursued her even if she had been very homely or physically unattractive at that point. I'm sure I can't be the only guy with this perspective.

At 180lbs at 5'4'' people still think I'm attractive, but all the fat around my thighs and stomach is very uncomfortable and makes me feel self conscious. The lack of mention of all the chafing, pulling, and uncontrolled movement from having extra fat is always weird to me. Even though it looks attractive to be larger, it's not easy to move around.

Disagree - the moment a woman starts to look 'muscular' in my eyes, she's off the radar.
Which is to say, I most certainly wouldn't recommend that as a piece of general advice for women, since it will only pertain to a portion (and probably a rather small-ish proportion, though now I'm speculating) of men. Some guys will like it, some won't care, some/many will be put off by it.

Even if a woman did so, it'd be the easiest thing in the world to quickly back it down a bit. The only women getting too much muscle are those specifically trying to do so. My specific complaint was about women looking muscular, which doesn't mean they shouldn't work out at all.
Idk about women needing to abuse steroids to look muscular though, unless I misunderstood another video by Menno ("Why women can gain as much muscle as men despite having 15x less testosterone") - from what I understood, women can actually gain a lot more muscle than usually assumed, though they still won't end up as muscular as men.
Regardless, I wasn't opposing women working out (rather, I'd encourage it), just pointing out that I, like many men, actually do NOT find muscular-looking women attractive, unlike OP.

I don't think those polls where you have a bunch of different women with different body types really works, because everyone has preferences in terms of look that have nothing to do with body shape or type. For example I prefer an olive complexion and darker hair on a woman, so if she's blonde then it automatically goes down a point or two for me personally. They really all need to be like the drawn images of the women's bodies where they are all the same woman, just with different shapes.
