I fell back in love with reading this decade and now reading is my whole life. My list of favourite books of the decade is too long but The Hunger Games trilogy (though the first 2 books didn't come out this decade) really was what brought me back to reading and made me fall in love with English so I'll mention it. I wish you a happy new year Hailey, all the best ! 🎉
My top books of the decade are:
• Carry On - Rainbow Rowell
• The Raven Cycle - Maggie Stiefvater
• The Selection, The Elite and The One - Keira Cass
• Red Queen Series - Victoria Aveyard
• The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue - Mackenzi Lee
• Rebel of the Sands Trilogy- Alwyn Hamilton
• On The Come Up - Angie Thomas
HAPPY 2020!!!

Hello everybody, good afternoon! I liked this video so much, congratulations for Hailey for this work of the best books of the decade (2010-2019). I hadn't seen this video till yesterday. Ann Bee Thank you 😊 you too!!
I really enjoyed bookmas this year! I'm so glad I found your channel this decade and really got into booktube. Getting into booktube has rekindled my love of reading and I can't wait to see what books you talk about next year!
LITERALLY, NO ONE I KNOW KNOWS THE BOOK CODE NAME VERITY BUT IT'S SO GOOOOOOD! I'm so glad it made on this list, I found it in an old box when we were moving and oh my goodness it was amazing.
The effort you put into Bookmas radiates through the screen, thank you so much for all you do! :)
This list is A) amazing and B) makes me realize just how long I've been watching your channel because WOW it's been a long time!
Happy New Year Hailey ❤️ Thank you for such wonderful videos in 2019, hope that we can finally read your book(s) in 2020 😄
Hoài Anh I hope so too 😭
Definitely bookmarking this video for the next time I go book shopping!
legit have been binging all these booktube videos 😍
I've seen the Nightingale recommendation so I've read it. Now there will always be a hole in my heart.
Happy New Year! I’m going to read The Fault in Our Stars in January. First time reading one of his books I’m excited. Great video!
The movie adaptation of Extremely Loud and Incredibly close made me so so much, I love it so much.
Happy New Year! I enjoyed Bookmas 2019 (and now I have to reread Alice and A Little Princess lol)
I loved Heartless as well! By far one of my favorite fairy tale retellings as well! The book thief is on my TBR for the next year. I really hope I get through it. I love Fangirl as well! Also Happy New Year!
Such a great video! I hope you have a great New Year. Here are my top five favorites of the decade:
1. The Sun is Also a Star
2. A Walk to Remember
3. To All the Boys I've Loved Before
4. The Hate U Give
5. A Little Princess
Ruta Sepetys is my favorite author! She has a fourth book called Out Of the Easy that is also amazing. It’s not a WWII novel but still incredible.
Heartless is one of my favorite books!
Mine too!! It's so good 😍
Ruta Sepetys' new book is absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere is so good. If nothing else, that's going to make you love it! (I actually read it because of you so I hope you love it 😁)
happy new years all! (it's already 2020 in Indonesia)
Omg, HEARTLESS and THE ASTONISHING COLOR OF AFTER were two of my top books of the decades as well! I read it HEARTLESS in 2016 and I *still* think about it sometimes and it just...ugh! So good. And I can't even speak coherently about THE ASTONISHING COLOR OF AFTER right now it's just so special to me. Love love love this video!
Happy New Year, Hailey! This was a lovely video, all the books you talked about are great books with a lot of depth.
I actually KNEW for sure, that "the book thief" and "the diviners" were gonna be on this list!
When ever I’m in a slump I just watch one of your videos and it gets me all excited to read 📚
I started collecting Anne of Green Gables books like you collect Alices - I read it for the first time when I was a kid and then again in 2019 and the story is so amazing plus the CBC adaptation is also great if you haven’t watched it! It’s on Netflix too
Happy New Year and thank you so much for Bookmas!
Six of Crows was an amazing read 😍
Also my favorite books of the decade are in no particular order:
Throne of Glass
City of Bones
The Fault in Our Stars
Stalking Jack the Ripper
im sure there's more but this was just off the top of my head :) Here's to being in the roaring 20's with my 21 year old self...wow what a time
Oh I'm reading throne of glass right now, the reviews were iffy but I liked the blurb, good to know it's the best out of a lot of books for you!
I read Anne of green gables this year and it immediately became one of my favorite books!
my mom got me that edition of anne of green gables for christmas because it was her favorite as a kid and i just recently fell in love with anne with an e on netflix. and yes, i agree about gilbert🥰
The book I loved the most was A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. I love Beauty and the Beast retellings. I know that not alot of people loved it, which is fine, everyone has different opinions on what they love and hate 💙💙
I literally just bought this edition of the little princess today. It was like it was meant to be 😍😍
Honestly I love Salt to the Sea. I read it in 7th grade and I read Between Shades of Grey my freshman year because she actually came to our school. I talked with her about her books and now I have both copies personally signed. They are definitely some of my favorite books that I own. You are the first that I’ve seen to have this book on their list for the decade.
I love your videos can you do alice in wonderland book collection
happy new year! i hope u have the most amazing reading year and enjoy the new roaring 20’s :)
You remind me that I really need to read six of crows which is still waiting in my bookshelves. Wonderful video thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Am i the only one who doesnt care is the vid is long? I love it because i can just sit there and do my studf while hearinf my favourite booktuber recommending me books
Im so glad you mentioned Fall of Giants, I read it last year and it seems like no one is talking about it eventhough its really good
Hailey, I wait for your videos to sort down my to-reads. I actually trust your judgement more than mine. Lol.
And Happy New year to you and your family ❤️
I am sooo happy that The Nightingale made the list! This is why you are the best and why I read what you recommend. Happy 2020!
Thanks for all the amazing Bookmas videos, I know they must take sooo much work but it’s been really awesome seeing so many videos, and they were all so much fun to watch! Happy new year 💜
Woah found the vid after 4 minutes!! Happy New Year!!!
Happy NewYear! A great range of books here. Thanks for all your videos this year. Best of luck with your writing.
Haha, Happy New Year and New Decade, Hailey! May it bring forth magical things for all of us!
I am so happy to see A list of Cages in your favourite list because I didnt think i will see it here. I love this book with all my heart.
For me it's already 2020 I'm Australian
America is still in the last decade 😂😂
I'm an Aussie too lol same here
Happy New Year. I know you said 2020 is gonna be huge and I hope it is full of greatness for you.
Happy New Year Hailey! I really enjoyed your bookmas videos and excited to see new content videos in the future.
i'm so glad ruta sepetys made it on your list! i met her in 2015 and she was absolutely lovely
I just finished reading “We Were the Lucky Ones” and fell in love with it! A very sad WW2 true story, that will make you cry, however there’s a lot or redemption as well! Highly recommend!
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNOWS RUTA SEPETYS
she rocks!! also, her latest book is amazingggg I hope you enjoy it
Mine would be,
Harry potter and the goblet of fire
Looking for Alaska
The Host
Infernal devices (entire series)
Freedom at Midnight
Divergent
Emperor of all maladies (non fiction)
Angels and demons
The girl with the dragon tattoo
Temple
Me before you
I haven't given much thought to the list , but these are the few that popped in my head
My favorite fiction list:
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - YA Fantasy (no, not because of the vampire craze; they're just amazing)
Graceling by Kristin Cashore - YA Fantasy
Cinder by Marissa Meyer - Fantasy/Fairy Tale Retelling
Cruel Prince by Holly Black- YA Fantasy
Say You're Sorry by Karen Rose - Suspenseful Thriller
Maximum Ride by James Patterson - YA Fantasy
Harry Potter by JK Rowling - YA Fantasy
The Host by Stephanie Meyer - Adult Fantasy/Sci-Fi
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer - YA Fantasy (Don't judge! I remember loving it, so it made the list.)
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead - YA Fantasy
Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - Adult Fantasy
Discovery Of Witches by Deborah Harkness - Adult Fantasy
Gone by Michael Grant - YA Fantasy
Firelight by Sophie Jordan - YA Fantasy
Eragon by Christopher Paolini - YA Fantasy
Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - YA Fantasy
Talented by Sophie Davis - YA Fantasy
Josh and Hazel's Guide To Not Dating by Christina Lauren - Adult Romance
Monster by Michael Grant - YA Fantasy
Partials by Dan Wells - YA Fantasy/Post-Apocalyptic-Dystopia
Enclave by Ann Aguirre - YA Fantasy/Post-Apocalyptic
Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout - YA Fantasy
I think that's all of them! (It's probably not) Also, the word 'fantasy' has ceased to have all meaning.... It is clear which genre I love most! What I don't read: horror. What I read little of: contemporary. Guilty pleasure: adult romance (even the smutty stuff).
My 2 Favorite Books i read in 2010-2019 are The Phantom of the Opera (1909-1910) by Gaston Leroux & The Savior's Champion (2018) by Jenna Moreci.
I read POTO while on a trip to France with my sister in 2012 & actually got to walk through the Paris Opera House while reading the book. It was amazing!
TSC is probably 1 of the most amazing books I've ever read, & i strongly urge you to look at it.
Bookmas was amazing this year!! Thanks so much for doing this Hailey ♥️
I still need more book recommendations
ARMY!!!♡
I'm going to sound really old here - but I can remember waiting for midnight to come, 1999; and hoping that we weren't going to be hit with a massive computer glitch!! Where have the years gone!!
And definitely agree with some of your picks there - and I too have a love for Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery; since I am related to her on my mother's side!
Have a great new year, and look forward to hearing that of more wonderful book recommendations for the next decade!!
Daisy Jones yayyyy 😍 happy new year !
*adds every single book to my goodreads tbr shelf*
Thanks so much for all the effort you put into bookmas! I absolutely loved it. Love you Hailey and happy new years eve!
A bit late but happy New Year!
My all time favourite book is Divergent which I read in December of 2012 and continues to be my favourite. From 2010 to 2019, I read a bunch of amazing books including Simon Vs. The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (2018), Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon (2017), Milk & Honey by Rupi Kaur (2017), This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada (2019), Carve the Mark series by Veronica Roth (2018-19), The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood (2017), The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill (2017), The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (2016), The Selection Series by Kiera Cass (2013-2016), The Giver by Lois Lowry (2014), In The After by Demitria Lunetta (2014), The Fault in Our Stars / Paper Towns / Looking for Alaska by John Green (2013), The End & Other Beginnings by Veronica Roth (2019), Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman (2019), The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer, Into The Water by Paula Hawkins (2017)
I’ve enjoyed bookmas so much!!
I absolutely loved The Book Theif and both of the Ruta Sepetys I've read so far! Definitely want to reread the book thief this year! If you havent already I'd recommend licking up The Tattoist of Auschwitz:)
You listed so many great books! You also need to read Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys. Its also historical fiction, but takes place in the south in the 1950s. Its different than her other books, but still very good.
Happy new year! Even though English is not my mother tongue, I still really enjoyed your videos! Thank you for introduced so many great books!!!😆
You got me with the Nightingale. Subscribed.
I sadly didn’t hit my goal of 20 books this year. 2020 was my first year of parenting so hence the busyness and only reading 8 books! But I read some great books and I’m hoping in 2020 i can time manage to read more. Happy 2020!
Read Sixty Days by Hernan Jaen, great international story
I loved this Ken Follett trilogy too, but his Kingsbridge one is my favorite (its more medival), havent read the last one yet though, I was waiting for the paperback.
Every single book I received was a little princess. I think at one point I had like 4 or 5 different editions of the book😂
I don't really keep up with favourites because if I loved it I would still remember the book. The books that I love last year were Seven Sorcerer's by Caro King (I never see anything about that masterpiece) and The Grace Year by Kim Liggett. Love those two so much that I will probably reread for the first time in my life 😂
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, The Lost Queen by Signe Pike, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden, Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling, Emilia by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, Pride and Prejudice and Emma by Jane Austen.
Hi guys :) Everyone recommends Ava Lavender, and I think I want to read it but I REALLY can't read about rape, if you know what I mean. Should I avoid it, even though everyone is gushing about it? I wish you all a very happy new decade! :)
I’m so glad it’s the last day of the decade! This was the worst year in my life by far. For me, and my family. I read so many books this year I can’t even remember which books I’ve read. I do remember that I read Carry On because I talk about so much my predictive chat automatically capitalizes those words... I love that book so much words cannot even start to explain how much I love that book.
Today is actually my birthday and this video was the cherry on top! I always love your videos:) Happy New Year!!!🎊
ALittleReader happy birthday!
I still need to read six of crows. It’s sitting on my shelf but i haven’t picked it up yet
I love quite a few books on this list, however the fault in our stars whilst i love it brings up a memory of one of my best friends spoiling the entire ending for me when I was only two chapters in and reading it in front of her so that's fun and it still annoys me to this day
😂😂
Happy new year Haileyyy💜 I hope you and your family have a great decade to come and I cant wait to see the amazing content u put out in 2020!!!! Loads of love from India💜
Things you save in a fire! Realistic romance\ women empowerment book\ finding urself! Highly recommend 😍
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell is so sad and beautiful at the same time!!!!
The decade is almost over and I’m in a funk. I had to re-read Fangirl to try and ease the anxiety. My favorite books of the decade are The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, Heir of Fire by SJM, Kingdom of Ash by SJM, ACOMAF and ACOWAR also by SJM, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Fangirl (obviously), A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab, the Passenger duology by Alexandra Bracken, King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo, the Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff, the Shatter Me books by Tahereh Mafi, the Kanin Chronicles and the Valkyrie duology by Amanda Hocking, Roseblood by A.G. Howard, Red Rising by Pierce Brown, STJR by Kerri Maniscalco, Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, and a couple poetry books by Nikita Gill.
Bookmas was so great! So sad it's already over 😂. Looking forward to more amazing videos in 2020! Happy New Year! ❤
