Not 10 seconds in and Sal is already talking about his Predator on a pirate ship pitch! I love it!
He knew we were already typing comments about if he’d bring it up and wanted to beat us to the submit button lol
Persistence lmao
Tom needs to be in a back issues episode. Better yet, have him tell a story of his (strange adventures preferably) to Sal’s parents
If this message could get to Tom, I'd be eternally grateful.
In 3 months I will graduate medical school and be on my way towards becoming an ICU doctor.
I wrote my medical school application essay about how superman inspired me to be a doctor, and did anesthesia interviews where I talked about how you have to think like Batman.
Tom King's Up in the Sky captures everything about superman that inspired me to work in the service of others and I'm certain it will do the same for others in the future. I truly believe the positive influence of that story will be vast. Thank you so much for your work.
"I love sexy people" - Tom King. That quote needs to be on a Human Target collection.
Anytime Sal and Tom talk is literal gold
Honestly the part that shocked me the most is that Tom King is writing Archie. Never would’ve thought I’d say that sentence, but I’m kinda here for it.
The story of this Predator vs Pirates idea can only end with the guys covering it on Back Issues one day.
Once Tom or Josh write it lols
Episode of good the bad and the ugly where Sal, Tom, and Josh give a pitch, and Tiff, Ben, and Ethan get to make the decision😂
I am down for Predator on a Pirate Ship AND Tom/Sal's Decloaked.
This is a good fanbase. I learned everything from Sal and his team. I love the authors and having my mind changed on runs. More importantly I love that everyone knows Dark Knights Metal was absolute schlock.
Human Target rocks.
I’m gonna be frank, I think Tom King has become a much better Batman writer now than when he headlined the main series. It’s great to see such growth from an already talented author.
i love sal's growth with king. It almost feels like the general audience feeling, where you grow to like it when you were intially outrraged at it 😅. another great interview btw!
that's one of the reasons why i like to reread comics. if my outrage of a story came from my knee jerk reaction to it, then sometimes i like to go back and reread it: with a more sobering mindset. that's what happened when i read grant morrison's action comics run. in the beginning, i thought it was bad, but on my second reading i grew to love it.
Yeah, I just got into this channel a few weeks back. I’ve just been combing through the back catalog and my jaw literally dropped when I saw Sal doing this interview lmao
I can’t believe this interview is how I learned there’s another Human Target issue I didn’t read because I read it in the hardcovers. Dammit.
I do love the idea of Two Face, the idea that you can let go of any personal responsibility for your actions because its all up to fate
To defend Mr. ComicPop's premise; In my mind the "boat" isn't an 18th century galleon, but instead a 40K inspired Space Hulk. Nostromo escalated by square kilometers
I love the talks with Tom King
The last flight of the Demeter was a financial failure. Which is basically a predator on a boat. Except Dracula in place of the Predator.
k
Mr. King, Love Everlasting is amazing!!!!
Tom King is so fun, great talk
I just saw King at Thirdeye and told him I bought Gotham Year One because of Sal.
Great discussion! King's new Dark Horse book sounds awesome.
Also agreeing DC needs to release a deluxe of Human Target
i just finished reading his brave and the bold arc with the joker and it’s one of the more impressive Bat/Joker stories I’ve read recently-had King wrote Joker War or something like it, i think it would’ve been better received than his Bane run. If you reading this haven’t read it, i highly recommend it: it’s my ideal early years Batman story so far
i find the wining card by king and gerads is a pretty good prequel to war of jokes and riddles. that even with the blood shed that the joker took to the city in his early days, bruce couldn't cross that line to kill the joker: with a knife. when the joker asked him why he didn't just kill him, bruce says, "I'm not you, I'm better." but within the war of jokes and riddles, bruce felt a moment of weakness to cross that line to kill the riddler, because of the horrible things enigma has done. funny enough, it was the joker that stopped it from happening. one of the reason why that's funny to the joker, with the wining card story context, is the idea that batman is no better than the joker on idea of killing; all joker needs to do is push hard enough to do it. also the joker is soooo egotistical, that he want's to be able to push him over the edge.
I don’t love everything he does but i love hearing Tom talk
I always love Sal and Tom’s chats. Insightful, thoughtful and always involving a predator on a pirate ship! Thanks for all you both do!
Tom King is hands down my favorite guest on this channel (everyone Is fantastic as well lol)! come back to his interview all the time for background sound & highlight moments
My favourite duo!
If you dont give this video a like for the Predator On A Pirate Ship open, you have no soul
great job on this awesome interview man ;)
Tom King interview? Awesome!
Just read the 2 human target hardcovers and now I’m super confused about not reading some sort of a bonus issue
God damn it, Tom king is so damn likable and his work is so freaking great (though admittedly I never read his Batman 😂)
I have dropped what I was doing.
Also finished Kingdom Come for the first time for my local stores comic book club, got the bits of context I missed out on after years of listening, will be my first time attending the club but is at the store I’ve been frequenting for a year and know tons of the members❤
Will have to rewatch the old back issues before Tuesday, it’s a really old one from the comic store days yeah?
Nope just post I checked lol
(But it still sounds like it is 😂🎉❤)
3:15 Sal says "Cue the graphic and theme song."
Just got back from the comic shop, (got 3 indie trades and my pull list of big 2 books and a Capullo art Moon Knight short box) for this to go live 🎉
Just read the entire Danger Street series in floppies earlier this week and absolutely LOVED IT
figuring out if i've seen this tom king interview before by checking his hat
Tom’s Archie is proofing to be on my pull list when it comes out because I loved the Waid run so dearly.
I can’t believe I have a shared experience with Sal and Tom, I too have read Calvin and Hobbs collections till they’ve been falling apart.
I love comics
Reunited ! Always a good time with Sal and King
As a Gothic literature fan I hope Helen of Wyndhorn brings new fans to the genre.
As always, this is so wholesome
Disrobed - With Sal and Tom
Weeknights at 11
Remember when Scarecrow had a mutation that made him like a giant straw man or something. This was after Bruce came back from his broken back.
Toms back Toms back
I would love to hear Tom's pitch for a Predator story to rival Sal's...and now that he's writing Archie, what he thinks of Predator vs Archie
Love Sal and Tom together!
How could you guys talk about both Archie and Predator but not talk about Archie vs Predator?
I’ve read a modest amount of Archie comics in my day, but I’m always a bit embarrassed when people talk with such affection about the comics when i grew up with and eventually learned to love riverdale
Yay Tom!
yooooo tom king!
Give this man Superman,
For the Tom of it all have been loving the WW book expecially the Trinity backups, Woman of tomorrow is the second trade I ever bought after Zdarskys Spider-Man life story 🫶(oops and TT’s first trade of Nightwing) and I bought another copy for my sister for Christmas 🎉
