I love how this interview turned Tom interviewing Sal for the first 13 minutes and then we sideways to Archie???? Best podcast ever
So has anybody heard about this book that is out? I think it is called Helen of Wyndhorn...
Helen of WYNDHORN?!
@@comicpopreturns Big fan of this series. I added it to my pull after reading issue 1 twice in a sitting.
Comicstorian Ben Potter passed away on June 8th in a accident. Prayers and thoughts go out to his wife, family and friends. We lost an icon in the comic book and geek community, he'll be forever missed and remembered for his love for comics and his voice. RIP.
Hey, I'm the guy who posted the All Star Batman thing to Reddit recently! Very happy to hear you guys go into more detail on it :) I'm gonna count this as an unofficial shout out lol
Tom King’s Supergirl is a must-read!
… but I’ve been reading his Batman run and it’s disappointing.
Hey, it's Sal and Tom King! 🤣Talking about life? I'm in.
Superman: Up in the Sky is one comic I recommend to everyone and remains one of my top 3 favorite comics of all time. I’m VERY happy it’s coming back into print
It’s in my top 2 comics top one comic is mister miracle he did lol
Yeah one of my favorites and definitely my favorite Supes book
1:00:00 Tom's on a roll here. As someone born in 1995 who studied history, and lived through that laundry list of shitty-events, I've felt like we cannot stop circling the drain of the 20th century. It's something I've been thinking about often lately. Aside from it being King, that definitely sold me on the Jenny Sparks book (I had no previous familiarity with the character). Fantastic interview!
Tom, I can 100% confirm having my face show up in an Archie comic would be something I didn’t fully appreciate until I was older. Your kids don’t realize yet how cool of a gift you got them.
I freaking love this guy! Sal rules! Tom King is pretty cool too. Tom’s Vision and Supergirl are two of my favorite runs.
You need to check out his run on Mister Miracle, Human Target, Danger Street, & Strange Adventures
@@TMNerdy danger street is one of the most hopeful books king's written in black label. the reason being the bad guys get put in their place, and most of the heroes go off and have a happy life.
@@TMNerdy thank you!
LOVE TOM KING ON THIS PODCAST!! Instant click every time
I live for these chats between Sal and Mr. King. One of my favourite creators in comics rn and my favourite comic book youtuber.
thanks Sal for doing these talks, really comfy and humanizes creators a lot!
Damn didn’t realize Up in the Sky is out of print. Genuinely my favorite Superman story
The tangents are perfect. Kidnapping, giants, beard dye. But then insane industry insider news and stories.
it´s so wholesome to me having seen all the interviews they have had together al these years and how eveytime it started to feel like a talk with 2 friends, Tom was so into Sal´s kindapping that i forgot this was even a comic channel, every talk with Tom is knowing i will have an hour of pure joy, thanks for these talks Sal and Tom!
What Tom needs to do is bring his kids to his next con so they can hear how great Sal is AND how cool it is they're in an Archie comic.
Another episode with Tom and sal is another great day!
@@SebastianEnamorado-ql4rh cool thank you for sharing with the class 🙄
Hi ComicPop Returns! I love that Tom King is staging Jenny Sparks because the 20th century is not dead -- Warren Ellis had snuck her out of continuity, so King has kept her mojo intact :D
Always nice to see Tom King on the podcast. 👍🏻
This was a killer show, full of good vibes!
Great interview man
As someone from the Dominican Republic, I'm sad to hear about your kidnapping experience in my country. This isn't typical of our people, but we unfortunately have people who suck here as well. I hope you still got to experience some of the positive aspects of our culture from your time here
Desperate people are everywhere, and I've met many of them, but good people are everywhere, too. I've been to the Dominican Republic and had nothing but a lovely time and met amazing people, one of which has become a lifelong friend outside of work.
“Is that like a gambling loss?”
SAL 😭😂😭
Really enjoy when Tom pops up. You guys have great energy, plus he’s a good writer in my opinion.
Love that you guys do this together. Sal is goated with the sauce
It's Tom King!!!! 🎉Yay🎉
If I was in Tom King’s line at con, I would be weirdo asking about Omega Men and Sheriff of Babylon.
Omega Men was flat out amazing book. I would love a return to it from Tom
I was at the motor City comic con and got some stuff signed. Thank you so much Tom and Mitch for singing my Mr Miracle. Love and appreciate all your work.
Tom will probably read this. Just wanna say thank you for signing my swamp thing special a few years ago.
P.S.- Sorry the editors were so hard on your batman and nightwing runs. Feels like you had way less freedom than what you have today.
P.S.S.- I've ran into "The Wedding and Heroes In Crisis haters" tbf they eventually chill out. 😂
Grayson lol not nightwing
GREAT talk Sal. Always look forward to these :)
It was Sal's show that introduced me to Tom King and the reason I picked up Vision and Mr. Miracle, so I believe Tom King's line story, lol
Tom if you happen to see this, your books positively impact my life! Especially Mister Miracle and Supergirl!!
Absolutely glorious show. Thank you! I am a huge Tom King fan. I think The Penguin is the best book DC is putting out right now. I also loved Human Target, Animal Pound, and Wonder Woman. I attended Motor City Comic Con in May and was heartbroken that Tom wasn’t there on Friday (despite the website saying he was there all weekend). I understand that things happen, but now I’ve got a stack of books begging for a signature. Hoping he’ll be at MegaCon in Orlando and we can catch up then. I’ll definitely tell him how much I love Sal!
Sal has insane backstory!
ive been looking for superman up in the sky for years thankful tis coming back
I'm very interested in seeing Jenny Sparks in comics again, also clarification on both Sal getting kidnapped AND Tom's discussion about continuing All Star Batman? Yoooo
Always a good time when Sal and Tom King get together.
because of this podcast, i discovered Batman: the first night. absolutely loved it. also tmnt comics. keep up the amazing work
You mean Knight?
@@francesco5594 typo. and yes. seriously good story, especially for black label
@@SebastianEnamorado-ql4rh but can u articulate why he is trash?
I was waiting for another interview. I love them. 👍
Tom's Supergirl was what got my girlfriend into reading comics, after seeing it on Back Issues...
Love this podcast so much!🙌
Yay!! Tom's back!
Tom king and Sal rule
awesome stuff!
Great vid!
I hope tom king can maybe do some work with some wildcat charecters very much looking forward to his jenny sparks run!
I know this will be a great interview. I wonder if Tom King is gonna end up writing ALL the bang babies or if he’ll create new ones. If DC owns the License.
Edit: So happy he mentioned Jenny Quantum.
W interview
Archie! Sure why not? I would buy a Jar Jar Binks comic Tom King wrote it for christ sake.
This episode begins with Sal discussing how he was kidnapped as a child in the Dominican Republic.
How did Tom resist the urge to write Archie as a Twin Perks style meta commentary on small town America?
I don't know if the friend that got dragged to Midtown comics and stumbled on your comic with him on the cover is Ben, but I'd like to believe it is.
haha It wasn't, but Ben is in the comic!
Own the beard Sal. It will show wisdom.
If anymore is asking, they star to talk about All Star-Batman and Robin in 28:03.
I laughed at Wonder Woman #7
It's not a Tom King interview if he doesn't mention he was in Iraq at least twenty times.
I am more hyped for this Jenny Sparks series than I have been for a comic in ages!!!!
Obvious question; how d'ya reconcile the end of history being an American perspective with Jenny Sparks being hella British?
"near that jim lee level" i know lee is his boss but lets be real sampere is better than jim lee 😭
He may have meant in terms of status.
But who wasn't kidnapped in the Dominican Republic once or twice in their life
