Just so that anybody buying this Jeep isn't too confused, there are a few facts that need to be clarified. I've owned Jeeps of all models for over 40 yrs and pretty much know them inside out. First, this is a J10 (half ton) not a J20. First clue...only 6 lug nuts not 8 (J20).(Check the VIN) The grille is from a late model Grand Wagoneer, never used on a J truck. The interior including the seats, door panels, dash and steering wheel/col are from a Grand Wagoneer also. The lockers are for the axles NOT the locking hubs. The rear bumper although nice looking is not from Jeep. All instruments lower centre of dash are aftermarket...Jeep never installed any gauges down there. Most of the stuff under hood is not Jeep but after market stuff. The Laredo was available on J10 only, never on a J20. It included the name plate as shown (location is incorrect) and really is of no value as there is nothing on this J truck that remains from the original Laredo package. Too bad they messed it up by going with a two tone paint. That was not available in those colours and the colour break would have been higher with vinyl trim to seperate. The locking hubs are not factory issue for that year either. Other than that, the running gear etc is very nice and clean. Trivia fact. J20's were built in a short box townside version, but ONLY for export out of North America. Any that exist in North America were 'imported' back into the country. They often had a pintle hook replacing a rear step bumper. ...comes from being a Jeep dealership Parts Manager for 20+ yrs.
@nytmstr They made a Laredo package for the J-Series trucks and Cherokees of this vintage, but since the interior's been traded with a Grand Wagoneer and all those options were added, technically the "Laredo" package no longer applies to this truck.
Wow! Whom ever buys this truck is getting the best bargain on the planet. Not just money wise but you are buying someone's ingenuity and genius. This truck has it in spades.
Air Locker means that you have a selectable true locked differential. You still have to get out and lock the hubs manually. A true locked differential means that you have both wheels on an axle spinning regardless of traction. On an non locked differential, only one wheel is getting power at a time.
never ran across air actuated hubs yet. But i do unlock my rear hubs quite often in the woods due to the fact I run a spool, dedicated front and rear brakes, and could not afford a divorced transfer case.
thank you so much for the info WITH OUT the hate and insults.. I'm a jeepster and really appreciate tech data and facts you won't find in any single article..
The air locker don't lock the hubs , it locks the differential. Stop calling it a car please, and the air compressor is to air the tires back up after airing them down on the trail. It is nice tho.
@nytmstr Laredo was an option on early 80's J10's may have only been short beds. With the paint done the way it is and the GW interior all that remains is the Laredo badge all be it in the wrong spot if it really was one.
That coolant reservoir is not a billet. I can see the welds . Why don't car salesman ever bother to take the time to understand what they are talking about?
thats a j10 for sure the j20 all had the long wheel base and long bed. sorry to say you would think if you work at a car and truck place you would know want you are doing and talking about.
Exactly, no other car dealership individually reviews each car. Instead of appreciation for the effort we put into the videos and the cars themselves people like to point out each flaw. Thanks to the viewers that understand where we are coming from.
not an expert here,so set me straight,. why then Detroit for example, must use a compressor to activate their after market lockers instead of the already available vacuum source from motor.. ??
He keeps calling it a restoration, it's a resto-mod, not a J20, not a Laredo, and it looked like a half ragged out Wag interior, at least the driver's arm rest was broken. My real J20 unfinished without all the aftermarket crap turns more heads than that due to how my two tone is done, factory bumper with OE decal and anti-slip strips, my tail gate letters match my two tone, and I have dealer installed options of a roll bar and grille guard. Mine has a J-truck grille too, not a GW grille.
Having a huge page let alone any page for notes makes you a bad salesman. It makes you look like you don't know what your talking about more than you not knowing what your talking about. Go to chicago cars direct here on youtube, Chris Morin will show you how its done.
air for locking hubs ? dont need any more....holly shit, what up grade susp. ?,, didnt it come power seats, power wind , ? clean but way to much hype,, guy needs know more xxx what talking bout,,
the air locker refers to the differential not the hubs. they are locked by air but it is suction line from carburator that is why there is one for front and back. (no hubs on back) if he rebuilds cars he is idiot and i wouldn't want him rebuilding anything for me

+1932heather Could be a J10 with 3/4 ton axles. still not a j20, but could be why he's labeling as one.
Hey are this jeep unreliable like jeep wagoneer
Yeah, but dang this thing is beautiful!
Gorgeous truck but it's a J10 NOT a J20 and the air lockers are for the differentials, NOT the hubs.
F...ing car dealers.
Chill out folks, its a gorgeous restomod, not a back to original build.
I had a 79 J10. I miss that truck. imo jeep trucks had the best looking body style
@nytmstr They made a Laredo package for the J-Series trucks and Cherokees of this vintage, but since the interior's been traded with a Grand Wagoneer and all those options were added, technically the "Laredo" package no longer applies to this truck.
Wow, so much hate just because he missed one fact. Not everyone 4x4s. Great video, thanks for showing the underside, interior and engine.

Air Lock the hubs so you don't have to get out.
Drrrrrrrr Tardo
cuanto y donde la tienen....
@Kalika548 J20 is just the 3/4 ton model, I've seen short boxes on them before
The air locker don't lock the hubs , it locks the differential. Stop calling it a car please, and the air compressor is to air the tires back up after airing them down on the trail. It is nice tho.
+84 Scrambler I was thinking the same. I almost laughed when he said it would lock the hubs for you lol
Wow, whoever bought that for 20 grand got a smoking deal.
I have a 1977 jeep Cherokee chief and like you said it's different like mine it is orange and black but Pretty truck
Great looking truck. I wonder who ended up buying it?
@nytmstr Laredo was an option on early 80's J10's may have only been short beds. With the paint done the way it is and the GW interior all that remains is the Laredo badge all be it in the wrong spot if it really was one.
thats is one nice ass J10, mine is at Iron Mikes garage in rockville md,, he does great work
This dude wants your $$$, nothing else. Bullshit that he says the truck is worth 50k
That coolant reservoir is not a billet. I can see the welds . Why don't car salesman ever bother to take the time to understand what they are talking about?
That's one nice J10!!(: rear axle gave it away, it's a Amc 20 rear axle And j20 didn't have Amc 20s
@CSXRockford Whoa, whoa, whoa. Settle down there sparky. I made a bit of a mistake. My bad!
I agree 100% I only can imagine all those who would love to buy some thing off of a sales person that inclined about 4x4's..
is this truck still around? I LOVE Jeep
give him a break, that's to lock the truck's blinker fluid into place in sync with the shocks.
Final grand wagoneer grill. 81 was a "hog nose" and it's just "j20"not "cj20"
thats a j10 for sure the j20 all had the long wheel base and long bed. sorry to say you would think if you work at a car and truck place you would know want you are doing and talking about.
@TH3JO5H Not from the factory, easy axle swap.
nice restoration..

1000's and 1000's of hours was it build by Government works?
not an expert here,so set me straight,. why then Detroit for example, must use a compressor to activate their after market lockers instead of the already available vacuum source from motor.. ??
air locker doesn't lock in hubs you should know what your talking about especially if your selling it
He keeps calling it a restoration, it's a resto-mod, not a J20, not a Laredo, and it looked like a half ragged out Wag interior, at least the driver's arm rest was broken. I thought it was a yruck
If I had the money, that is where I would spend it.
coolest jeep I've ever seen!! What did you sell this for? That is the coolest car I've ever seen...
Nice J10 I rather have a MagnaFlow, JBA, or borla exhaust over that Flowmaster soon or later that muffler will rust out.
Needs the gladiator Grill
Lots of bond not near original
Is this truck still for sale?

@CSXRockford ...harsh dude,....
Wrong grille, the grille is from a later Grand Wagoneer!
God I wanted this jeep!!!!!
air for locking hubs ? dont need any more....holly shit, what up grade susp. ?,, didnt it come power seats, power wind , ? clean but way to much hype,, guy needs know more xxx what talking bout,,
Not an 81, the interior is not 81.

DO U STILL HAV
dad had a j20
Air locking front and rear hubs? Who the fuck would unlock their rear hub? (nevermind there's no such thing as an air locking hub)
it's worth no more than 15,000
As a guy with way too much in my Jeep, I can confirm. You will hope and pray you can get a 1/4 of what you put in out of it.
diff locks, not hubs....lol
Can I have the car?
J10, not a J20
@CSXRockford
That is a 6 lug J10
The guy has no self-respect.
