There’s this feeling I get when I talk about Yves Saint Laurent I don’t know how to explain it and his work and life have always fascinated me. Thanks for making this video^^
The video is very put together and informative!! (I love your editing style btw) And I feel that the fact that he was the first designer to have people of colour as models is not discussed enough. He was truly a genius who wasn't afraid of drawing inspiration from other cultures!
Thank you so much for this! YSL has been my favorite fashion house since I saw the 2020 Winter collection. As an architecture student who didn't know where to start in studying his craft or even fashion in general, this was so informative in showcasing his vision and philosophy as a designer in an easily digestible way. The focus on functionality, proposal of androgyny, and even pushing women of color in the spotlight.. it's all thanks to him. He was indeed revolutionary.
The love & and passion I hear in your voice everytime you talk about anything Yves Saint Laurent (and Celine) is just awe-inspiring. This is another well-done video, Michelle. Your content is top tier 🥺🖤
Beverly Johnson was the first black model on the cover of American Vogue in 1974, not Naomi Campbell. Then Peggy Dillard, followed. As well, Yves fought for Naomi Campbell to get a Vogue cover under Anna Wintour in the 1990's.
Loved the video! It was great to find out more about him, as I only had casual knowledge, and so nice to see footage from the old runways. P.S. I wanted to ask about your mention of Lauren Bacall. Did you mean that she wore a style similar to his designs before his time? Asking because the photo you used of her is from the mid-1940s.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad my video helped with learning more about him as a designer and his work. Yes, I pulled an earlier photo for her since she was one who was an early trendsetter that people looked to and had contributed to this style through her influence since she wore menswear-esque pieces. Later on she can be seen more in his design aesthetic (Similar to Betty Catroux who wore menswear previous to YSL)
you managed to convey his genius and elegance in this video in such an immaculate way, he would have loved it as much as we did.
I did my absolute best to do his work justice, I’m so touched and beyond flattered! Thank you so much

I just came here because I was wondering what it would be like to date a St. Laurent model ... one can dream!!!
Please! Make a video about Crazy Rich Asians fashion.
What movie is being shown in the video with ysl??
I just find it so hard to believe that Yves Saint Laurent didn't like Tom Ford's direction.
I was Just talking about him to my friends 5 minutes ago wtf

No hate but please consider doing the voiceover in your normal voice. It totally takes away from and ruins your content, which is great.
"empower women" by tricking them into flashing their boobs under the guise of "fashion" lol, smart man, he hoodwinked an entire gender
NICE EDUCATIONAL VIDEO. HORRIBLE VOICE OVER.
Holy hell that shallow girl/mean girl accent is annoying. Content is good but gets killed in that delivery.
why do you have to speak like that though
The narrator almost put me to sleep 😂
my cousin
