An interesting story I read sometime ago mentioned that when the w140 was under design stage, a very senior engineering division employee , who was reportedly 6'9 tall kept pestering Bruno Sacco to design the W140 with enough headroom to accommodate drivers/passengers of his frame. Bruno apparently resisted initially, but eventually relented. As the car grew in height, the length and width had to follow suit, or else the proportion would be very odd. Even with the increased length and width, the w140 does give off that "top hat".profile when viewed from the side. That being said, the w140 is the best S class ever made, in my opinion.
I would say so far the best of All times after w126 of modern Era ( I still respect the old ones ( 6.3 .. etc) .. anyway I'm proud Owner of a one W126 sec, and w140 diesel ,and of course , s500 ...

I was born in 80s and grew up seeing this W124, W140 and W201 did not attract me at all. I loves car growing up but till late 20s, I somehow get a chance to own a W124. It was all due to Fifth Gear demo a bigfoot trying to run over it. Was captivated by the strength of the chassis. Then I start to learn about Mercedes but only able to afford W124. The W140 earn my respect that the engineering and competition from rivals especially Lexus, made Mercedes alsmost bankcrupt. Then I know that these era of Mercedes was the best quality cars ever made. W140 still turn my head when I see them. If you drive it to Chiangmai, I am very sure you will not get tiredj easily. Not all cars must ve fast, the W140 is more to comfort, class and calmness. Not many reviewer going to see these oldschool, so good video Kon 👍

The W140 is one of my favourite Mercedes. You’d be amazed by how much tech this thing had for when it was made. The design, although old, still looks so really good to me. All black, with good tint and you’ve got yourself a true Yakuza/Mafia car 👍
A lot of the luxuries in this car are electrically and mechanically operated, but still immense sophistication.
Driving an elegant car brings out Kon's exquisite commentary. Hope more high end classics made it to Kon's review.

What year was this W140?
Is it a worth for youngster like me to buy one? Ive always like comfort than sporty. Wonder hows the maintenance
The W140 is extremely reliable, but can be thirsty on fuel.
Some luxury parts, like the air pump for the soft closing doors, can either be rare, expensive, or both, and they are wear and tear items.
Consider a W124 for a similar driving experience at a lower cost if maintenance budget is a concern.

Hi kon is e 200 coupe 2018 for the price for 250k-260k a good buy ?any major concern or issue ?
That's about the going rate for the E 200 Coupe. The car has no major issues, but for better value retention down the road, you'd want to consider an E 300 or E 400.
Only the roadtax puts people off😂

LEXUS LS400 WAS THE ANSWER TO MERCEDES-BENZ W126 ... AND MERCEDES-BENZ W140 WAS ALREADY IN PREPARATION IN 1981, WAY BEFORE THE APPARITON OF THE LEXUS LS400.
