I had the chance for drive an i8 this week, I'm totally in love with the car! It sits on the road so nicely and just gets on with the driving, no indication of how the electronics are adjusting electric and petrol power.

The lock/unlock feature is still available even when the battery is flat
very nice car
so you can drive for let's say 10 km on electric power, get to some highway to accelerate and then the cold engine kicks in to be reved to maximum. doesn't sound like a good idea to me, not if you're concerned about longevity..
I'm quite sure that the BMW engineers thought about this too. It would be interesting to know if they somehow managed to solve this potential problem.

The Air Resistance Coefficient of the old E-Class Coupé was 0.25 ;)
The new 5 Series has a drag coefficient of 0.22

Lamborghini already tried to make a partnership with koenigsegg just to put this type of door, but it did not happen, it is patented

+One Dude From a standing quarter mile? Sure. It's electric. It can't go anywhere as fast as a Bugatti though, has much less pulling power above ~120 km/h, and it can't sustain high power scenarios more than a few minutes. It's nothing like a Bugatti.
