I own a 2015 S3, could not be more excited to see how this goes, I plan on taking my car to its grave, currently at 88k miles, shooting for 250k. Running 26psi on stock turbo, it was running 18psi for my car, that's just an off the shelf tune, when it starts going bad I'll build it up a bit and get a dyno tune, no budget like you but I am an Audi Tech. So would love to be able to get some ideas that are attainable
Same here, I have 2019 vw GLI, basically same as mk7 gti, off the shelf Cobb stage 1 at the moment. Waiting for the stock turbo to fail and then get an upgrade for additional power🤣. Former Mercedes tech.
modding vw/audi has been popular for 20 years...it really took off when they added stock turbos...no better bang for your buck than tuning a stock turbo car. i had 3vws, an audi, 2 fords and a 3 series all with turbos or twin turbos...love it! pump some more vids out, man!!
What kind of increases are you seeing by porting the heads on these engines? Also, are you hand porting or doing a CNC porting and hand polishing? Very interested in your builds! Do you tune the cars yourself and if so are you using HP Tuners?
I just had a WTF moment. I saw the video on a Facebook group and I was like wtf that's Russo lmao. I've been watching you since you were skinny haha. Glad to know you're in the MQB community
@thebirdhasbeencharged I see 8Y S3s making really good power with basic mods and a tune. I think Audi did their people dirty though. The FL 8Y is going to have all the goodies like the torque splitter that it should've had in the first place.
@@danieljadorie829 Yh would have been fun to slide that, no complaints tho, exhaust, tune, intake and injectors and I'm doing almost 400hp which is more than enough on my '23 S3.
What hardware/setup did you use to gain such of power? We are planning to make setup to handle around 1000hp but better to hear from someone already have an experience what to do and/or avoid
No hate, but why not swap in the 2.5 or better yet a vr6? For that amount of power you may as well get the extra displacement and reliability. I'm saying this as someone who owns a 2.0t a4 and a heavily built b5 s4. The bigger motor is just all around better to drive.
THIS is what Ive been looking for....I have a facelift 2018 S3 , low miles now but eventually in a couple years Im gonna go this route for sure. I have the DQ381 7 speed in mine...how much more torque can it hold compared to the DQ250? That would be perfect if I didnt have to upgrade to the DQ500. Im looking for 500-600 WHP. THANK YOU, keep em coming. These really are amazing platforms, the future is looking really bright for them.
I think the factory limit on the dq381 is around 420 lbft. But obviously with a tune, increased line pressure, etc. that goes up. My 2020 also has the dq381 in it, and I would tell you to go early on your DSG service. Personal story: Mine melted down at 32k miles. At which point, despite having 2 TSBs on NHTSA letterhead acknowledging these issues, Audi did the really standup thing and TD1d my car. And then wanted me to give them 12k for a reman trans from somewhere in Europe with a 16 week lead time. After I retrieved it and took it to a shop with techs that care and think, they split the cases (drumroll….. 3.5 quarts of fluid in it!!!) cleaned every component, cleaned out the mech unit, and reassembled it with Dodson clutch parts. And put the correct amount of fluid in it. Car is now great. And since I have no warranty now, who knows what the future holds. All that to say, you may be under filled from the factory too. Mine isn’t the only one I’ve heard of with this issue. And obviously, the TSBs point out the mech unit issues (which are undoubtedly rooted in fluid starvation)
I'm on my 3rd motor in my s3 wagon. The 2nd motor I blew the piston and rod through the side of the motor. The piston head was a ball and the rod was twisted
Genuinely curious, why not switch to the 5-cylinder platform of the RS3? Much more excellent and more reliable engine to build up. I'm an S3 owner, and my dream is to switch to the 5-cylinder, so that's why I'm wondering, haha. I know they say it's cheaper on the S3, but won't you spend more over time fixing the 4 cylinder repeatedly? You mentioned you blew this car up already. It also seems like a lot of the costs mentioned are for parts only, not labor which most of us will have to spend money on as well since we don't know how to install or calibrate these parts from our home garages (or lack there of)
So less than $8k for the engine build and possibly labor putting it in….. how much to get a DQ500 thrown in with it? And how does the core work if you are starting with a non GOLF R or S3 block??? I have a 1.8T GSW with an IS38 and could possibly see myself going nuts at some point in the future
20v heads are superior! that's one of the reasons why 20v engines went well over 1000hp and not tsi engines.. specially if you compare with the gen 3 etc.
I guess I got ripped off by my engine builder. I was charged almost 6k for match port , balance crank , brass valve guides and oversized valve I supplied all the parts & my motor still burning oil smh 🤦🏾 it’s back in the shop right now it’s a A4 Audi
Claims to have been in the Honda game since the 90’s but only now thought about doing a side winder.. Can’t wait to see these bold claims come to life… 8s S3 😂😂😂
There's RS3 in that territory with around the same HP and being its practically the same shell minus the widen front fenders I dont see why it wouldn't be possible. These cars fully gutted will weight less than 3000 lbs which is super light. It will be less reliable just due to the engine displacement compared to an RS3 but it can be done. The boostin performance team just set a world record for 1st AWD 4 Cyl quarter mile at 6.98 going 215 mph. Granted it was a carbon fiber body and full send but with the right amount of money anything is possible.
@@redicification These engines are nothing like the 4G63 and don't have anywhere near the development. They also have significantly more limitations than the much older Mitsubishi engine. The fastest RS3's on the planet right now are barely into the 7's and that's with 4 digit power and plenty of weight reduction. I think you're unrealistic about what this engine is capable of doing.

There is talk of an Audi Q3 EA888 in Australia that will be making 1000whp+ 6 speed record.
I really like the fact that youre finally doing car stiff. You still have the evo?
Yes ; Going to show that once its done … 99% done
The only thing about this is that you’ll be testing out new limits with the block 😅
What about thrust bearing failure on manuals.. is it as common as I hear. I don't seen many manuals for sale.

I have a mk6 gli gen 3 could I use this info and try to reach 650 wheel in my Gli?
