  • We're back on the AWD conversion MK5 GTI TSI, this time working on the engine rebuild. Most of the parts have arrived and it's time to get this thing back up and running. The parts list is very long for this one and we're looking to stretch it's legs a bit further than we had before.

    You guys obviously know what your talking about so I have a question, I wanted to RS3 swap my 2.5 MK6 Jetta but a used engine is $15k with a ECM and no trans so I'm gonna buy a $500 2.5 but before I build it I was wondering if I could use the head, intake manifold, and turbo manifold off a RS3 on a non turbo 2.5? I'm putting rods and .20 over pistons in the block and it's cheaper to buy a RS3 top end than to buy the IE intake manifold, have my head ported and get cams for it and have a custom turbo manifold made that's why I'm wondering

    • @isaacshively6705
      @isaacshively6705 2 года назад

      I'm doing the same swap in my daily. Don't overcomplicate it. It all comes down to how much power you want. If it's 3-400whp then just use a stock engine with the right turbo setup. If you want more, just do rods and pistons. It will make power without question.

    • @isaacshively6705
      @isaacshively6705 2 года назад

      @@COMotorsports what do you think about throwing boost at a used engine, I'm going for around 400hp, you think a used engine would handle it without doing anything to the bottom end? I'm already doing a hard gasket and front and rear main seals and timing chain/water pump because to my engine in my car what else should I do? Do the cams that they make for the 2.5 or the IE intake manifold benefit me in any way if I'm going turbo? This is also my daily and the first new car I've ever bought so I wanna do it right

    Hi I have a mk6 with a hpa k04 all of the supporting mods for it and I just put on a IE manifold and I have a meth kit but I never put it on because I am running IE tune and it’s not for meth I was wondering how I can hook it up and not blow my motor or how to run port injection instead and also if putting a bigger turbo on it I would have to build the whole motor. Thanks

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  Год назад

      Port injection is not an easy feet on mk6. The stock ECU can not control port injectors. Stick with the water meth setup. Stock engines good for ~400whp so you have room to go from a k04.

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  Месяц назад

      Engine failure is generally unique to itself. There are so many factors, how and when it failed can change the overall damage. You can't say anything for certain until you open it up and see what damage has been caused.

    I have a question. I did all new timing chain on my 2.0T a while back but had a real hard time with the crank pulley. Every time I took the bolt out to put the pulley on the gear would move. I had to leave the tensioner pinned until I had the crank pulley on and then tension the chain? Would you have any clue what I did wrong, or be able to put it in a video when you pull that bolt out to put the pulley on?

    • @etunedmk4
      @etunedmk4 2 года назад

      If you take the crank pulley off, put the bolt back in to hold the chain drive attached to the crankshaft. Otherwise the crank can turn and the chain drive stay in place or vice versa. With the bolt in hand tight and holding everything together, you can pull the pin

    • @4BillC
      @4BillC 2 года назад

      @@etunedmk4 but with chains and cover on and tensioned, how do you pull the bolt back off to put the pulley on without it moving? As his sits in the video, like I did mine, when I pulled the crank bolt out to put the pulley on (that bolt is what holds the pulley) the timing gear would be pulled to the exhaust side of the engine and up just a hair.

    I've got a MK6 with CTS Turbo's K04-X hybrid turbo kit. I'm in the states and running 93 octane. I'm running out of fuel around 6K rpms with the oem low pressure/high pressure fuel pump. I'm around 90% duty cycle on the low pressure pump. Would you suggest going with water-meth to supplement the low pressure fuel pump or should I aim to install a larger fuel pump? I've read that you can use a pump from the S4/RS3/etc, but it requires modifying the ecu. What are your thoughts/suggestions?

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  2 года назад +3

      Watermeth provides lots of benefits but also brings things outside the stock ECU meaning more room for errors. We usually do LPFP in these and sometimes LPFP module as well depending on what the vehicle is used for.

      @@COMotorsports I have a 2020 ea888 with 17k miles on it that was money shifted that I'm probably gonna try my hand at rebuilding. Spun a bearing. Gonna put it on an engine stand and let it sit while I watch videos and read about building this engine proper.
