      It really shows how much these engines are limited and choked down from the factory.. especially a 1.8t with the dumb n75 valve..249 valve..and a tiny lil itty-bitty KO3S turbo...that totally bleeds off boost pressure.. electronically limited.. turbo comes alive at 2200 but dies at 3000..that is just dumb

    Awesome build guys, excited to see what this setup does. Quick question, seems like you guys checked valve/ piston clearance a ton of times, more than you’d expect a typical machine shop to do building a customer engine maybe? Looked like you’re also running a pretty high CR, is there a benchmark CR where you really need to begin paying attention to valve clearance? I’m running 10:1 and have an adjustable pulley I plan to play with but not sure how carefully the shop that assembled the ending would have checked that. Hard to imagine them taking the care you guys took.

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  Год назад +2

      A lot of things to factor in... so definitely not a straight cut answer. We checked valve to piston clearance so much because I wanted to have movement in the cams. So we'd check it timed, we'd check it as far as we could go each way on the sprocket, then did it all again once I had the pistons cut. This way I know how far each way I can go when adjusting it without having a concern. Compression, cam lift, valve size, how pistons were cut initially, head gasket thickness, how much the head and block have been decked... there are endless things to contribute to it. Hence why it's worth doing.

I want to start out with buying a CTS turbo kit and all supporting mods like maf, clutch, ect… then I want to completely build the motor and everything else to be able to handle the power with an awd/long setup. Hey there man, I know its rather tedious to talk to a next man crowd, but for those of us, especially me I'm a Vdub all the way, was wondering is the 2e (Mk1 - Mk3 bottom ends, the EA, ABY the ABF as well compatible with the 20v heads, or are there any oil or water ports that need to be modified. Apart from sproket spacing of course.
    My final question, apologies for the stretch but is any belt running Dub blocks compatible with belt running heads. And how'd you switch out the oil pump.
    Would love a detailed video😂😭.

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  Год назад +1

      I haven't done what you've asked so I can't say. Belt length, belt alignment, head gasket, and head studs are the common hurtles between blocks/heads. But if you think of the blocks that 16v heads have been swapped too, and think that I've swapped a 16v head on a 20v block.. then you can kind of piece together what can work. Again the things listed above are generally what need to be addressed.
