    Kia Ora Team, as many of you have kindly pointed out - the referee in the 2011 semi final was Allan Rolland not Romain Poite. Like many of my mistakes that one will live on in perpetuity on the internet.

      I was confused about how Romain Poite could referee a game featuring France, but that's why. Agree with the yellow though, maybe to the defense of Rolland the fact that Warburton also landed his hand on the face didn't help.

    • @frankbunce
      @frankbunce 2 года назад +1

      @@ManofMunster it wasn’t the forward pass in 07 you clown, it was the inability to penalise France when NZ dominated possession and field position. You could say NZ were naive and should have changed tack when they realised Barnes was freezing on by far the biggest stage he’d been on. You think 2011 was as one sided? You are well off the case. “France, which was the most penalized team at the 2007 World Cup, received 85 per cent of the penalties and free kicks in the game (11-2). The All Blacks received 15 per cent. An irony is that during the World Cup, 69 per cent of all penalties went to the team in possession.” “First-half possession was 57% and territory 46% to NZ. Second-half possession was 73% and territory 72% to NZ.” Yet zero second half penalties awarded against France. There has never been another test match like it.

    Wayne barnes , In Wales we know our chances of winning when that prick is refereeing the game are going to be slim , twice after the closing mins of the game he kept the opposing teams in the Welsh end for over 10 minutes until they won the game , he did it against France by keeping them in the Welsh side for 20 minutes after the 80th min until France scored to win the game ,he also did the same against Australia too.

You did miss Bryce Lawrence's worst match ever where he literally was the reason for Australia beating South Africa in the 2011 World Cup. He was so bad that he received a number of death threats. The following Super Series he would not ref any games played in South Africa for fear of reprisals and after a lengthy investigation into his deliberated destruction of the Springboks in 2011, was eventually banned from any international refereeing at all. Sure, there's some terrible decisions going around, and some are truly bad. But honestly the day a player has a perfect, no error game, that's when they can complain.
    One ref with the whole game on their shoulders for the entire match.
    Then there's a team of 15 players (plus reserves) who get to share the load and get to enjoy decent chunks of time where they're not involved in the actual contest despite still being on the field.
    Then there's us, the armchair experts that have replays, vision from every angle and the alleged expert guidance of commentators, not to mention our own bias.

    I don't blame Wayne Barnes for missing the forward pass, it came after the All Blacks knocked on and the ball was speculated down the field. Barnes would have to be a world class sprinter to be in line with the pass. Same with the McAllister binning, from Barnes's angle it may have looked like a cynical block. But the thing I got angry about was him not penalising the French the entire second half for blatant illegal tactics at the ruck. He can't have missed them all.
    Richie McCaw summed it up best, he said Barnes got so afraid of making a wrong decision in a such a big game, he just stopped making decisions.
    As to your point on Barnes, he has been the best referee in World Rugby since that match - he clearly learnt from his mistakes.
