It was 1959. I was 15 years old. I had just gotten out of school for the Summer. It was a crisp, low humidity, early Spring morning with a gentle breeze. I was sitting at home in a screened porch back then looking at beautiful Mother Nature. I was perfectly relaxed and content. Then I heard this tune come on the radio. I was suddenly in Heaven. This would go on forever. I would never grow old. I had my WHOLE life ahead of me. Beautifully content and at peace. Not a care in the world and three months of Summer fun ahead. This warmth would go on forever. The best time of my life....with this song playing in the background. I don’t ever recall a more beautiful memory in my life. I still play the song to this day. It takes me back to another time, another sensation in my life. A time in my youth that I miss dearly. The song also brings with it, melancholy. A little bit of sadness now in my later years. In the blink of an eye, everything has changed. I now talk to my TV and tell it what to do. I see machines moving on Mars. Cars listen to me and do what I ask. Computers; black holes; space time; the Internet; anger and harshness everywhere. So how did I get here so quickly? How did all of that cherished time I had back then disappear so quickly? But then again, I have Billy Vaughn’s “Look For A Star” to listen to whenever I feel the need. Thanks, Billy. That’s one helluva’ act.

Remember those great Zenith radios and how great the FM sounded on them? The ones with the conical speaker and the volume control in the middle?
