    It seems a lot of us listening to this, do it in memory of our fathers. This song sure takes me back to the happiest days of my childhood, when my parents were in their prime, and dad had this record playing all the time. He loved this album. How I miss those days, of childhood bliss, and the sweetness of our home filled with beautiful music...my dad alive and in love with his family and his music.

    The first time I ever danced was 1963 in a classroom in elementary school with the best looking girl in school and it was to "Sail Along Silvery Moon" and to top it all off she asked me to dance. Wow! Hearing it now just took me back 50 some years.

    I grew up around Billy Vaughn's music. At about two years of age, I danced to his "Swingin' Safari" As an alto saxist in high school, I used his recordings to pattern my vibrato after. My private teacher said, "Now Billy Vaughn-that's how a sax should sound!!" AT one time I had many of his Dot 45's. But was was great in backing up Pat Boone and others in late '50's early '60's.

    Hi Richard, I'm from Nicaragua, I`ve heard your father's music since I was a child and I still enjoy it; it makes me dream on olders times and remember to My father and Brother who like me loved those beautiful melodies; Oh God, how much I long for them. I'm and will be up to die fan of Billy Vaughn's music.

    I used this song for a theme on my radio show in the mid 1960s. It was my favorite recording. I had some letters from Billy in the mid 1970s. He was great. My friend Del Casher used to play guitar with Billy. Wonderful video.

    When I was a kid, my parents used to listen to Billy Vaughn's music and dance to it too. I still have a lot of records, 45rpm, which I treasure. I have just listened to SAIL ALONG SILVERY MOON, LA PALOMA, WHEELS, EINE NACHT IN MONTE CARLO, and I started to cry. Too many memories. Mr. Richard Vaughn has nothing to worry about: his father's music will be forever with us, deep in our hearts. Thanks a lot for posting this. Greetings from Switzerland.

    One of the favorite records of my youth and it still sounds as fresh as ever - never forgot it, thank you Billy Vaughn. It must have been on an old 78 when I played it, what we called a wax record, and it had to be treated with loving care because if you dropped it that was it, it broke and you lost it. I'm sure I danced to it too, we had some great music to rock to in those days. Will download it tonight to my list of old favourites.

    @richnerdy I have been a fan of your dad's ever since I was 3 years old... I am 26 now... he was my first favorite artist, and still my favorite non-country artist. I make the distinction "Non-Country" as old country music is what I specialize in these days... but I still have a box containing nearly all your Dad's Dot LPs, plus a dozen or so reel to reel tapes of his. My Hands-Down favorite is "Wheels and Orange Blossom Special".

    Nice!! Brings back a lot of memories esp when the radio stn way back in the late 70's or early 80's wld open transmission with a half hr program featuring an instrumental selection of various artistes for the day -Acker Bilk, Chet Atkins etc & me dad made it a pt to record all these selections on tape. After i heard the Billy Vaughn selections, really got me hooked the 1st time i heard it.

    Isn't it wonderful how music can evoke a memory. So real, so many details. Some of this modern stuff doesn't have these some qualities does it?

    • @MrHeesbeen
      @MrHeesbeen Год назад

      Some of it does @3GreeneBJ, but sound engineers seem to have lost the skill that they used to have when recording music. In their minds, the drum is now a lead instrument and vocalists (I can`t really call them singers), can`t be heard unless they eat the microphone and then their voices are not really worth listening to.
      The quality of recorded sound has now deteriorated to the point where it doesn`t have the qualities of old and when you think of all of the the modern technology that the engineers have available to them, it is the perfect testimony to the lack of expertise in the studios.

    Hi Richard, bumped into this by accident and just wanted to drop you a note. Your dad was not only popular in the west. He probably wouldn'thave known this, but his music was adored by fans as far away as in Sri Lanka (then Ceylon). Sail Along Silvery Moon was an all time hit on Radio Ceylon (the only entertainment media. We didn't have TV then) and I grew up with such superb music.
