42:10 Perrito actually does something called Deep pressure therapy, something that therapy dogs are taught to do when they feel their owners are about to have a panic/anxiety attack where the dog lies down ontop of their owners chest/stomach, helping them avoid harming themselves and at the same time help them ground themselves out of their fight or flight response and activate what's called a parasympathetic nervous system to calm down and lower the heart rate of the people having anxiety attacks.

    So, the dog's map is:
"Pocket Full of Posies" - Sounds nice until you realize that entire little nursery rhyme is an analogy for the Black Death/The Plague.
"River of Relaxation" - More than likely a reference to the river his owners tried to drown him in, or if you wanna make it darker, could potentially be an analogy for the River Styx in Greek Myth.
We don't really get a good look at the "Quick and Easy Solutions" one I don't think, but given how subtly dark the analogies have been so far, I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with Suicide or Suicidal Thoughts. The thematic reason for why we don't really see it is likely because Perrito has never actually gotten to that point due to his superhuman levels of optimism.

    • @TheAngryXenite
      @TheAngryXenite Год назад +363

It's also worth noting that the map responds to your intended wish and personality when creating the new pathway, and Perrito literally doesn't want anything. He couldn't think of anything he'd want more than the friends he already has, so the Star takes it easy on him. It's the story of his life, and he survives it by being so amazingly positive that it can't really break him down like it would others, as exemplified by the best solution to the Posies being to just be friendly and walk right through, where other, more assertive personalities try to fight.

My favorite part of this movie is that Death is 100% right about literally everything. He is the Great Equalizer. He's a price we all have to pay... except for Puss in Boots. Puss keeps getting second chances and he doesn't even care that what he has is special. Puss in Boots laughs in the face of death, because he doesn't understand what life is worth. If it was 24 frames it would be smoother, generally speaking most films will be at 24 frames per second because it looks good and there isn't any real need to have more frames the way a game would need them for responsiveness.
This also goes for animation but to save costs and resources they can hold individual frames for 2 or even 3 frames' length, which in animation it's called drawing on 2s and 3s respectively and it's called on 1's when you draw every frame.
Animating on 2's or 3's cuts the amount of work needed from 24 to 16 or 12 a second in the case of most movies, if the framerate was 60 the numbers would obviously be higher but the principle of dividing needed frames remains the same, some times they'll even modulate the framerate in the middle of a scene so it can go from 2's to 1's and so on.
Generally most anime is animated on 2's and 3's with 1's being reserved for very few scenes, Disney movies always opted to make stuff on 2's and 1's, and with CG movies studios have always opted to just work on the poses and let the program automatically in-between the movement at a perfect 24 per second, which still takes a lot of work as you still need to do a lot of poses and set the timing of the movement for the program to make the motion of characters and stuff look right, not to mention all the modeling, rigging, and rendering of each frame behind it.
Basically what I'm saying is that this is animated on 1's or 24 fps normally and then mainly for action scenes they modulate the frame rate and basically hand make the frame rate like in classic animation rather than have auto inbetweening, which is why the action has this anime feel to it, well that and the over the top choreography, perspective tricks, and less photo realistic rendering style of course.
Obviously Spiderverse also did this, and a fun detail is that Miles always moves at 12 fps while the other spiders move at 24 till he matures and learns his powers where he finally unlocks 24 fps movement like the others

Regarding those who think that Kitty didn't show up at the wedding, here are my thoughts on why I think she absolutely did show up:
    1) She spends the first half of the movie clearly being pissed at Puss for something, and by the way that he grabbed her by the tail, it's clear that they know each other more than simple acquaintances (hinting at a deeper relationship)
    2. From seeing how she double-crossed Goldi and the bears, we know that she's more than willing to lie if she seems it necessary
    3. Kitty's wish, as shown by the map, is all about companionship, so why wouldn't she show up at the wedding (as marriage is often seen as the ultimate companionship)
    4. She overhears Puss tall about Santa Caloma with Perrito and how much he regrets it
    5. If she didn't show up, how would she know that Puss didn't show up (i.e. being left at the altar implies that you're at the altar in the first place)
    6. If she didn't show up, wouldn't that make her a bit of a hypocrite, and thus lessen the severity of Puss' wrongdoing?
Which then leads me to why she would lie about not showing up
    1. She is helping Puss not to wallow in self-loathing, since she can already see that he's sorry
    2. She's making the point about why would she want to show up for "that guy" (i.e. Puss' narcissistic legendary self), and acknowledging how much she's seen him change
I hope this is a sufficient explanation for that particular sequence, because that seems to be where most people are confused with this movie.
Either way, this movie is still amazing 😍😁😍

It's always interesting when stories show death as an actual being. It reminded me of all the poems about how people actually thought death was a being going around killing people in the olden years. This is definitely my second favorite death as a character with how he's only after puss because puss never appreciated any of his lives so why would the last one be any different, so may as well just kill him now.
My first favorite will always be kindred from League of Legends even though they are more of a spirit that takes souls after the event that killed the person than killing them themselves. I always like how kindred represented the duality of death with how one's death will happen. It's up by faith whether you will be chosen by lamb or wolf to die that day. To have lamb's death which is either swift or by natural causes and by having wolf's death yours will be painful and slow. Though sometimes you get to choose how you die as lamb asks whether you want her arrow or wolf. And while the majority chooses the arrow, she always asks this question for those who say no to know what they are in for. And why people chose the wolf because they see it as fighting their battle with death and the wolf always gives someone the chance to run and live for another day. It's basically the idea someone will die peacefully or actively lives life on the edge and keeps throwing themselves into dangerous situations that could get them killed.

I don't know if it was on purpose but if feels like they took inspiration from several other current depictions cause Death in this movie very much reminded me of that, Puss is running from his death so he gets the Wolf who chases him down. Also the fact that they went with him using sickles instead of a scythe reminded me of Malthael (Angel of Death for those not familiar) from Diablo. They even have him do Malthael's pose when he says 'but you never noticed, cause Puss in Boots laughs in the face of Death, right?' Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I feel like the similarities are there.

Your vision starts to become blurry or tunneled and you start to feel this overwhelming sense of doom. Even as a grown man, the thing that would calm me down was talking to my mom. Having her give me a hug and tell me that it’s going to be okay. It’s a seriously terrifying experience but having loved ones there to rescue you can feel like a literal life saver. What’s even cooler about this movie is that in 2017 Antonio Banderas had a heart attack and he said that experience made him realize that some of the things he was focused on really didn’t have meaning and helped him appreciate the small, but truly important things in life like family and friends. 1:20 - And one of them is watching this video.
7:53 - I love how that guy just immediately goes "Shut up." as if to say, "No, don't make me feel old, I don't want to confront mortality while watching a Puss in Boots sequel!"
13:36 - I mean, one of my favorite movies is about an CG animated panda that fights a Peacock with Kung Fu, Dreamworks has demonstrated the ability to make compelling stories and characters out of just about anything.
13:52 - Still better than the subtitles in "Sing" where the songs' lyrics often strongly correlate to the characters' stories and development yet all you get is something to the effect of "Sings" or "Music".
    18:45 - In *THIS* economy?!?
41:16 - You know that clip of the girl reacting to The Last of Us going "That's the cutest fucking think I've ever seen in my life..." Before making a sound like a car lock alert noise when it gets shot? I want to see that with this scene but edited where Perrito explodes into confetti and streamers because he was shot by Jack Horner.
59:49 - The Satyrs from God of War 1 and 2: Little canker-throat wouldn't recognize a proper weapon if it were danglin' off his chut!

The beautiful thing about the final face off with Death is that after he tells Puss he doesn't see the arrogant Puss anymore, Puss lets out a breath he was holding, showing that even though he accepts his mortality, there's still a level of fear. He's not taking his life for granted anymore

“Can you just wish Death away?” Excellent question but I doubt it. In fact they kinda address that in a really subtle way. When the last member of The Bakers Dozen went into the Star magic they were vaporized. Death walks through it no problem. Confirming that Death is in fact more powerful than a magic star that can alter reality to grant any wish imaginable.

The amount of little Easter eggs in this movie is great! Like, in the opening scene when the crowd does the wave, you can see Death standing behind them. Or when Puss is counting his lives in the doctor’s office, there’s little cameos of Death with his sickles in each corner of the screen. OR when at the end of the movie when the end screen flashes Puss And Boots the “S” at the end of “Boots” shows the weapon Death used in the final fight. There’s plenty more Easter Eggs in the movie, but those are to name a few. It’s such a good movie.
