- Full review and first impressions of the NEW and very interesting looking Arrma Granite Grom 1/18 brushed RTR monster truck!
This is my Dad's new skatepark and front yard basher, I'm sure he'll have some fun, well I hope so as it is rather expensive here in Australiaπ¬
Hopefully it's worth the TAX LOADED price we have to payπ€

Great little car. Hope your dad gets better soon mate. Thanks for the video π
It is a very cool little car I think.
And dad is recovering wellπͺ
Thanks mate!
Great video nice little rig. I was there the other day with my grandson's vorteks 4x4 3s and jumped my kraton 6s on the bmx track. I got that drain and broke a 4mm shocker bolt. Keep them coming mate π π
Oh no not that drain again, I've hit it many times, always ends badπ±
Yes I'm glad my dad got himself the Grom, I think it will be EPIC with a little brushless comboπ
Thanks mateπ
Nice little basher, I'm digging it! Thanks for the review. Cheers!
They are very fun little trucks for sureπ
Very tough aswell!
Thanks for checking out the video mateπ
Hell yeah, ive missed the rc crazy content!
Always working on new videos I'm just slowππ
Thanks manπ
Nice video! I have mixed feelings on this one. It's nice that Arrma is getting into the mini game, however there is tough competition with Hypergo, Haiboxing, and Rallrlo. I even just picked up a brushless Deerc for under $100 π€·ββοΈ
Thanks man!
I feel you, it's a pricy car especially here in Australia.
Personally I like this more than MJX, Deerc and I won't even mention the other brandπ
But yes Hailboxing and more so JJRC at their price point for what you get, yeah well better than the Grom at $240audπ¬
Saying that though, the Grom is a HIGH QUALITY car compared to almost all 1/18 I've seen (talking specifically 1/18)
Glad to see it arrive π Awesome run down on the car mate you are really nailing it when talking now very informative.
Hope your dadβs hand heals up fine with no long lasting issue.
Very tempted to get one in the future π¬
How did you go with the shocks?
Getting better at editing out my mistake aswell probablyπ€¦ sorryπ
Thanks Michael!
It was only his ring finger luckily but one tendin was cut 90% apparently so he had to have micro surgery and he's now got upto 6 weeks of rehab, don't think it will cause issues in the future as long as he does his rehab exercises properly.
And the bottom caps on the shocks threaded but I'm not surprised considering how thin the thread is.
Might have to just use a tiny bit of super glue on the thread, that'll work until we upgrade themπ€·
@@rccrazy That's good to hear luckynhe didn't lose the finger π¬
Ahh I see. I do like the grom so I hope your dad keeps it and we get to see some more videos and any potential upgrades you may do to it in the future πππ
He's definitely keeping it and yep I'll be changing it to brushless for him and possibly some upgrades, probably some available now since filming this video.
@@rccrazy Sweet mate. Keep the videos coming brother ππ
Real cool little truck from Arrma. I think its got a fair bit bit of 1/18 competition from Haiboxing, HoSpeed, teton, losi, Bezgar...and more! should have a big shoot out! Great video Saul! I hope your Dads Hand Gets Better. Hes very lucky it wasn't much worse!
Thanks Robbieπ
You know what, I honestly forgot about the 1/18 HBX, at its price and especially now coming with a 3 wire servo I think it is definitely better value for money.
The Grom is better handling and stronger than the Teton from my experience and the Teton is still more expensive here in Australia as are the Losi small scale carsπ€£π€¦
And it's definitely better in my opinion than HoSpeed, Bezgar and many other brands I have no experience with so can't fairly compare them.
It's a quality car for sure but definitely a little pricy compared to most other 1/18s on the market.
And the first thing I said to dad when he came home from hospital was "your lucky you didn't lose all your fingers"π€
Favor bro. Itβs raining cars and dogs here. Cant seem to get a decent t day for a bash atm.
Would you please do some basherbody testing videos.
Youβre a star bro I was hoping you would shoot some indestructible body videos.
Also thereβs some good upcoming news soon that makes me just wish for this rain to stop.
Great place to. Vas goes here.
Idea for you. Invade the superman jump and letβs see how many people we can get seeing you at the superman send spot with a BasherBodies shell
Once the rain clears Iβm going to be back with a vengeance. Doing what I love ππ
Great video bro
I hope your dad heals up and his hand is okay. βΊοΈπ€
Thanks manπ
Yeah I'll definitely do more videos with the Basherbodies when I can, starting to take a long time making these videos.
Got reviews, repairs and upgrade videos to do but just keep falling further behindπ₯΅
And I rarely can get to the BMX so it's hard to make plans for there, all depends if or when I have a lift there but also how I'm feeling at the time, you know what I'm talking about I assume.
And yes dad is healing wellπ
@@rccrazy
Prayers sent for your Pa ππ
Iβm almost ready to go seems how itβs winter Getting parts and batts sometimes slows me down. But life gets boring when the cars are on the shelf.
Iβll be back up soon with some spare parts for breakages.
Good video. That sure looks like a nice little tough truck with the possible exception of the shocks.
I hope your dad heals quickly and easily.
Thanks Tim and thanks from Dadπ
Few weeks and he'll be back to normal hopefully.
It is a awesome 1/18 truck but yes the thread is far too narrow/thin, the front bottom caps actually threadedπ«€
Alloy caps with the same thread will fix it but I had none so until we upgrade I just put a dab of super glue on the threads and then reinstalling them(only the bottom caps) top caps seem to be fine.
Iβm glad you kept mentioning the suspension being bouncy. Every other review says βoil filled shocks feel amazingβ meanwhile Iβm watching thinking to myself βno that looks super bouncy like the cheap Amazon carsβ so thanks for being honest haha there needs to be a solution for this
Honestly is the best policyπ
This one is bouncy for sureπ΅βπ«
Thicker shock oil will definitely help.
ββ@@rccrazyIs it bouncy in comparison to other rc cars at this scale or similar scale? Maybe its the scale and terrain in comparison to said scale (if that is a factor)
@lyricofwise6894 why do you make your comments and questions so confusing and complicatedπ€
It was bouncy because the shock caps popped, simpleπ
They are oil shocks so you compare to other cars with oil shocks despite the scale, no?
@@rccrazyagreed. Theyβre being compared to all other oil filled shocks. Despite scale, an oil filled shock is an oil filled shock and they will all feel similar. These are unreasonably bouncy for oil filled shocks. Has nothing to do with scale or terrain
Yeah exactlyπ
Nice video, no more of the stupid gun tool :D dang that charger is small :)
Thanks manπ
You didn't like the gun tool either, no I'm not a fanπ
And I tell you what that little charger is fast and effective especially being a 3a chargerπ
Cheaper than my arrma outcast 8sπ...
I would hope soπ
I love my mini bashers
Great little car.. Very familiar that spot that's where the great man Vas (Aussie RC playground) tests his rigs isn't it?
Yeah same park that Vas uses sometimes, best skatepark for these little carsπ
The BMX track is epic for the big rigs obviouslyπ
Lol just realised it ainβt in Adelaide!!
Great vid.Hey whereβs this in Adelaide?
Cheers mateπ
Yeah I think you may already realise it's not Adelaide, I'm in Melbourne
just got my grom and steering has a delay. any suggestions ?
No sorry I can not help as mine and my dad's are both fine, no delays.
You may have to contact the supplier or Horizon Hobbies as it may be a faulty receiver or transmitter.
IS IT WATERPROOF?
The box states it is waterproof yes.
I personally don't drive my RCs in the wet, this one being my dad's it's completely upto him what he does with it.
Arrma is late to the game and overpriced for what you get, idc what yβall buy, itβs not for me, good luck with it.
